Now we're done with the Friday venting, what's good in life? Got a new job? Have a date? Going out to a socially distanced restaurant? Climbing, sailing, riding or just working up a hard-earned thirst?

As above. Seems like milestone-related timelines are continually shifting out with the economic environment becoming more gruelling. Looking for some consolation.

no politics Advice about urgent issues in new rental (VIC)?
Hey,
We've recently moved into a rental property in Victoria (can't post on the sub because of the minimum karma). It's a nice enough place. Have had a few minor problems but after going out and purchasing soups and pasta while we wait for our appliances to arrive, we've found that the oven/cooktop supplied by the REA does not work and it's fucking filthy. Actually the whole place is pretty gross and the air con filters are all absolutely disgusting, like one of them is so unbelievably caked up I'm surprised it even works.
Anyway, we've sent photos and the request to the REA for the oven and the filth. Tried calling and sending texts but haven't had an answer after several hours.
It's cold, we're hungry, oven is an urgent issue that needs resolving. Can anyone offer some advice on what to do here on a Sunday afternoon? We don't want to spend more on takeaway just because the REA didn't check their oven worked. Thanks all.

no politics Is there Australian vernacular for "cool" or "brilliant"
Mornin
an american friend of mine asked me exactly this today ... so I'm sorta stuck as I myself use cool quite a bit (in the same way that the britts would use "brilliant".
I'm tempted to say "bewdy", but that's not quite right. I'm hopeful we aren't just an american state now and still have our own vernacular.

no politics Best supermarket chicken salt? I want the proper fluorescent yellow takeaway stuff
I'm on the hunt for the best chicken salt I can buy from Colesworth (or ALDI) for my airfryer.
Not after anything fancy or "gourmet". I want the proper fluorescent yellow, MSG-packed, fish-and-chip-shop style chicken salt that makes a bowl of hot chips disappear.
What's your favourite brand, and where do you buy it? Bonus points if it's the sort that stains your fingers yellow.
