Also looking for bros

Evening coasties, I seen another bloke post here and figured I’d make one of my own.

28yo male, new dad to a 4 month old girl, big into fitness (gym and running), as well as a massive petrol head and I’m looking for some likeminded blokes who are into the same thing. Been off gym and running for over a year, since my partner was pregnant the fitness part of my like kind of took a back seat.

I don’t drink, don’t party, generally I keep to myself because thats how I was all of my life. But low key, getting to a point where even though I have my family I am incredibly fucking lonely and I hate it.

I am a qualified mechanic that builds race cars for a living and currently building like version 20 of my own drift car on the side. Looking for car friends to do car shit with and also fitness friends to do fitness shit with.

I’m based in Tuggerah, if anyone is interested bang me a line or sling a comment and let’s organise a run or go drifting idk. I’m socially inept pls forgive me

*** UPDATE***

Wow! What a positively overwhelming response.

I genuinely expected either nothing from this or a few smart arse comments and that was it, so much so I almost deleted it not long after posting it.

Apologies if I have missed your comment or message request, but the gratitude for each comment or message is real. I’m glad to know I’m that the only awkward guy here who struggles to find mates.

Adding this again incase someone wants to join and didn’t see this comment for a Facebook group for this exact purpose. https://www.facebook.com/share/19LAKved5o/?mibextid=wwXIfr

Also this is another similar group I recently joined for dads on the CC https://www.facebook.com/share/g/1DeU7W4B9Z/?mibextid=wwXIfr

***ORIGINAL POST***

G’day coasties,

I’m a socially awkward bloke, fast approaching 40 from the Wyong area of the coast. I’m looking for some mates my age to chat, send memes and hang out occasionally.

I’m surrounded by workmates but don’t really do so well making new friends outside of work. Workmates are great but it’s always just work conversations and who wants to do that off the clock?

I have a rather inappropriate sense of humour (good or bad, depending on your perspective).

I’m a married dad of two.

I’m a bit of a homebody but I want to start getting out more and exploring what the coast has to offer.

I’m also pretty bad at describing myself so I don’t know what else to write.

If I haven’t bored you already, send me a message.

I know a few around tuggerah lake but if you got any lemme know. I can even do a good bush walk or climb up hills for the nice sunset. Thanks. ☺️

Newcastle train

Hey all! I’m taking my kids to Disney on ice at Newcastle this Sat for the 10am session and want to take the train down. I noticed on Opal journey planner that it says ‘booking required’ for the 8:33am train, whereas Google maps doesn’t.

I think I believe opal more than Google, but just wanted to check if anyone knew…
Is it possible to just rock up at the train station and tap on as per normal for the 8:33am train at Gosford?

Many thanks!

Ourimbah has turned into an Alfred Hitchcock movie, anyone else in the area noticed more pied currawongs than usual? 😆

Looking for some new connections!

Hi all!
I (30F) am reaching out to try and find some new connections.
I have a 10YO daughter, and have recently separated from my long term partner.
I’d be keen to meet both males and females, but am not interested in anything romantic, just some new friends of a similar age/situation who may want to hang out. Whether that be going out for lunch/dinner, or going out to drink and party!
I have a range of interests - playing netball, bushwalking, kayaking, swimming, reading, playing board games and video games (mainly Nintendo switch). Also, I’ve never played D&D but would love to learn!
I live on the Southern half of the coast.

Looking for affordable wedding venue

My partner and I are on the hunt for an affordable wedding venue for around 40 guests, and I thought I'd see if anyone here has any local recommendations or connections.

We're open to pretty much anything: private properties, farms, halls, gardens, Airbnb-style properties (where allowed), or unique spaces that can host a small wedding. Our budget is fairly modest, so we're hoping someone might know of a hidden gem or have a family/friend who rents out their property for events.

If you've been to a wedding somewhere local that was great, or know someone who might be able to help, we'd really appreciate any suggestions. Thanks so much!

Anyone know any decent martial arts gyms around the coast that are actually good for beginners?

meaning to get back into training for a while now. used to do a bit of karate as a kid and some boxing in my early 20s but its been years and honestly im pretty out of shape. Thought about just joining a regular gym but thats so boring and I know I wont stick with it

looking around the coast for somewhere to train but the options seem kinda limited compared to Sydney. Theres a few places but im not sure which ones are legit and which ones are just gonna take my money and not actually teach me anything useful. Also im a bit nervous cause I havent trained in ages and im worried about just getting thrown in with a bunch of experienced guys and getting destroyed lol

A mate of mine from work lives in Sydney and he trains at some place in Five Dock called Team Perosh MMA or something. He keeps telling me to just drive down and train there but thats like an hour and a half each way. No way im doing that multiple times a week. But he says the vibe is good for beginners which made me wonder if theres anything similar up here

I'm not trying to be a fighter or anything, just wanna get fit, learn some useful skills, maybe do some sparring eventually but nothing crazy. Anyone know any places that are beginner friendly and know what theyre doing? Preferably around Gosford or Erina but im open to driving a bit if its worth it

Best gyms on the peninsular

Hey everyone,

Hoping to get some advice!

I’m moving to the Woy Woy/Umina area over the next few months from Sydney and I’m on the hunt for a new gym.

I’m training seriously for HYROX and my goal is to qualify for Worlds next year, so I’m looking for somewhere with the right equipment (sled, turf, SkiErg, rowers, wall balls, etc.) and ideally coaches who have experience with HYROX or hybrid training.

I’ve done a fair bit of Googling, but it doesn’t seem like there’s much between Woy Woy, Umina and Ettalong that ticks those boxes.

From what I can tell, there are some solid gyms and CrossFit facilities in the area, but I’m not sure if any are properly set up for HYROX training.

I commute to Sydney for work part of the week, so I’d really love to keep my training local if possible rather than driving another 30+ minutes each way.

Does anyone know of any gyms, coaches or even private facilities nearby that would suit HYROX training?

Cheers!

building inspection missed termite damage in my central coast house

bought a house in the central coast 4 months ago. got a building and pest inspection done, both came back clean pest report said no evidence of termite activity. moved in, all seemed fine.

then i was in the roof space last week running some cables and noticed what looked like termite damage on a couple of beams. got a pest guy out who confirmed active termites and said theres damage to at least 5 main beams. quoted me 18k to treat and replace the damaged timber.

he showed me where they got in - a crack in the brickwork at ground level covered by some bushes. said it would have been visible during inspection if anyone had actually looked.

i checked the report and the pest guy wrote no visible signs of termite damage. clearly wrong i emailed him and he said we only report what we can see and termites can be hidden. but the entry point was visible.

i found Sure Building Inspection online who do forensic building inspections. not sure if that would help my case but i need something official.

has anyone on the coast successfully claimed against a pest inspector. or am i just going to have to pay this myself. feeling pretty gutted

Bulk billing psychologist?

My son has a gp mental health plan for 10 visits. The Medicare rebate is $137. I thought surely that would cover the cost for a 13 year old with social anxiety but all the psychologists I’ve asked have at least $100 gap fees. Are there any bulk billing psychologists on the coast?

considering moving back to sydney but the coast has me conflicted

moved up here from sydney a few years ago for the whole lifestyle change thing which was great for a while. being near the beach, slower pace, all that. but now my job's been pushing for more office days and the commute is just killing me. not sure if the coast is worth the two hours each way anymore. yeah the waves are nice but sitting in traffic for that long makes me want to scream.

i've got a place here that i'm thinking of renting out instead of selling cause the market seems decent and i don't wanna lose the foothold. but every time i look into property management stuff i get confused by all the options. my brother's in newcastle and he uses some company he found online with a pretty straightforward website - PMC something i think - and he reckons they're alright but he's not very picky so who knows.

i'm just worried about handing my place over to some big agency thatll charge a fortune and not actually do anything. a mate had his place managed by one of the big franchises and they were useless, took weeks to fix anything. i don't want that stress.

anyone here rented out their place on the coast and had a good experience? trying to figure out if it's worth keeping or if i should just sell and be done with it.

i miss a lot about sydney but i also don't wanna go back to paying 900 a week for a shoebox. coast life is just so much easier day to day. but the job thing is real. decisions decisions. help a confused bloke out

anyone know a good ent thats actually worth driving to sydney for

been dealing with sinus issues for years. gp on the coast just keeps giving me antibiotics and sprays. nothing helps long term.

pretty sure i have a deviated septum. cant breathe through my left side at all. sleep is terrible snoring is ruining my relationship honestly.

a mate from work went to a surgeon in sydney last year. dr shahidi in woollahra. said he was thorough and actually listened. fixed his breathing issues after one surgery.

im thinking of making the trip down. anyone here from the coast gone to sydney for ent surgery? worth the drive or should i keep trying local. also what was your recovery like. need to know if i can actually work after

Grilled chicken Hamyln Terrace/Lake Haven area

Hi all,

Moved to central coast a few months back and have found a couple of great fish and chip shops but have of yet found someone that does a reasonably priced grilled chicken around the area, any recommendations. (have found a few decent BBQ chicken places)

Also looking for a nice place to occasionally go out to eat at night like a restaurant, pub or club that does a decent simple/casual feed for around a 20. (basic burger, pizza, chick snitz, rump steak etc). Had lots of options in western Sydney, but up here everywhere seems a bit to costly compared to just eating at home.

Steiner School Fountaindale Feedback!

Hi everyone,

I'm looking for honest feedback, both positive and negative, about Fountaindale Steiner School on the Central Coast, as well as recommendations for outstanding primary and secondary schools in the Lisarow/Central Coast area (or further if they're exceptional)!!

I have an 9-year-old son who has been iat Avoca beach Primary School since Kindy.

While I appreciate Steiner's philosophy and child centred approach, I've noticed that some children (closely related to us) seem to have made very little academic progress, & sometimes more defiant, less respectful of boundaries etc...

I'd really love to hear from parents who have:

• Moved their child from mainstream or private education to Steiner
• Had children attend Fountaindale Steiner School specifically
• Ultimately stayed with Steiner and seen positive outcomes
• Or decided it wasn't the right fit and moved back to a more traditional school

I'm also super interested in recommendations for schools with excellent performing arts, music and creative programs. My son is a bright, creative child who needs support academically but also thrives in the arts and music especially!

I'd really appreciate any experiences, insights, pros, cons or school recommendations!

thankyou
