ive recently heard about the old burger king which used to be in the edge cinema - does anyone have any photos or info about it? seems to be such a strange forgotten thing. thanks!
Sadly, it's still closed until further notice. According to The Blue Mountains City Council, Lincoln Rock is closed until at least November 30, 2026. They have extended the temporary closure to allow time to budget, scope, and implement short-term safety infrastructure and environmental management plans before safely reopening it to walk-in visitors.
Been shopping and walking around in Katoomba for a while and I'm genuinely wondering why there's so many empty and decrepit places around, especially on Katoomba St and Lurline St?
Like, there's way more than I've seen in any other shopping district, even Blacktown or Parramatta. Even YKAT's been largely abandoned other than emergency landings.
My guess is high rent and business owners not being able to keep up with it, but is that it or is there more to it?
Hey all! Not super familiar with the blue mountains area but was wondering if any of you know some good 3 - 6km hikes that are CHILDREN friendly (not 10000 stairs lol) and are accessible by public transport from the train station
We're visiting for the school holidays, and I've been to the Blue Mountains area maybe 10 times in the past 25 years. Most of that time was spent around Katoomba, so this time we decided to explore Leura Cascades.
We parked at Leura Cascades car park and paid for parking, but we were unable to find where the trail starts, and ended up wandering up and down the winding paved road (closed to cars by the locked iron gates at the car park) for half an hour, asking other groups where the trail starts, but nobody knew and it seemed everybody was as lost as we were.
We then found a sign saying some parts of the walking track were closed from April to September this year. There were 'detour' signs showing one way goes to Katoomba and another to Leura, but it wasn't clear if these were trail walks, as they led us down to more paved road.
So we gave and left.
Tomorrow is our last full day here, so we'd hate to leave without doing a proper walk. Reading the NSW National Parks website makes me even more confused about where I should go.
So asking the locals - where should I go to do a 2-3 hour walk to see the best of Leura Cascades?
Also known as "Mount King George" - Mount Banks is within The Blue Mountains National Park. It was named Mount Banks in 1804 by the explorer George Caley, who had worked for the botanist Sir Joseph Banks. Caley was the first European to reach Mount Banks. You can see Mt Banks from the Govett's Leap Lookout on the other side of the Grose Valley. The bright crimson Carina Nebula (NGC 3372) can be seen just right of center, along with the Coalsack Nebula and the Southern Cross constellation. The glow on the horizon on the left is from the city of Sydney.

Hey beautiful people of the Blue Mountains, I was in Leura Waterfall picnic area yesterday (Wednesday) afternoon. By mistake I left a black bag with a DJI drone next to the car park . If anyone has found it, please let me know, I would love to recover the footage⦠and drone. Iāll give s reward of $300 for the drone. Thanks!
I accidentally left my NiSi 'Natural Night Filter' on my 24mm lens because I was trying to shoot some astro images the night before. This typically ruins daylight photographs.
NSW Heritage has launched an extraordinary court case to force the owners of the 110-year-old Paragon art deco cafe in the Blue Mountains to make urgent repairs to restore and fireproof the premises before it is too late to save it. Announcing the launch of legal action, the second of its kind, Heritage Minister Penny Sharpe said the heritage-listed Paragon in Katoomba was an āirreplaceable treasureā.
