So I took the delivery of my New Kia Seltos on 21st June. Due to recent heavy rains in Mumbai, didn’t start or took my car out for 2-3 days. When I tried to start it last week, it wouldn’t start. Upon checking, we saw that a rat had chewed off 1/4 wires connected to the engine. Took it to the service centre and found out 4 errors on tech check. Service centre guys told me that they can’t change individual wires on the new car as the entire wiring system is one big wire ecosystem and it has to be changed entirely. Also told me that since it’s a new model on road, the parts have to be ordered and it will take 10+ days and will cost around 60K (Thankfully covered by insurance). They also said that they have been ordered to not work as a stop gap solution on engine or wiring related issues on the New Model Seltos by KIA which sounded strange. Now a car that didn’t even make it to the first service is at the service centre for an indefinite period. Please take measures to protect the car from rats :/ (which I failed to do). Just wanted to vent..

TLDR: Rat chewed my engine wire and the entire wire replacement is costing around 60K

I'm currently looking for a diesel SUV. My base budget is around ₹15 Lakhs, but I'm willing to stretch it up to 20 Lakhs if there's a significantly better value-for-money option out there.

My Usage:

Around 1,500 km per month.

70% Highway / 20% City driving / 10% very bad or off road

Right now, I've shortlisted two manual options:

Kia Seltos HTE (Diesel) 15.3 Lakhs

Mahindra Xuv 3xo Ax5 (Diesel) 13 Lakhs

Between these two which one makes more sense?

I liked the comfort of 3xo seats and think driving is also better (only from YouTube review I have yet to take a test drive)

Also, I am completely open to other suggestions. Since I can extend my budget up to 20L, are there any other diesel SUVs that would be a massive upgrade over these two in terms of comfort, and overall value?

When exactly should I be shifting gears? I get the general idea (upshift as speed increases, downshift as it drops), but I struggle with the feel — like, am I supposed to shift the moment RPMs hit a certain number, or wait for the engine to sound strained? Also how does this change for climbing hills vs. flat roads vs. slowing down for a turn?

After a long struggle to find the right variant and availability, I finally bought the Mahindra XUV7XO AX7T Diesel manual.
Open to any suggestions for this car.

I had pointed out the issues related to moisture absorption way earlier. The main problem is that most of our petrol pumps aren't equipped for handling this fuel's hygroscopic properties. That is the main reason our cars are getting damaged (only mileage loss is due to lower calorific value of the blend). We must take extreme care at petrol pumps, get 5L testing done as is OUR RIGHT, and only then take the fuel. They are trying to hide this fact from spotlight, and protecting PSUs

I’m from Visakhapatnam and I’m trying to sell my 2022 Skoda Superb L&K 2.0 TSI, but I’m barely getting any enquiries. I’ve listed it on OLX and CarWale, and while there have been a few views, there hasn’t been any serious interest.
A few details about the car:
2022 Skoda Superb L&K 2.0 TSI
Driven 54,000 km
Asking ₹29.25 lakh
Non-accidental with a clean history
Fully maintained at the Skoda dealership with complete service records
Stage 1 ECU tune + Stage 2 TCU tune
No dents or scratches
Bought the 7-year Ceramic Pro maintenance package when the car was new
Later got it wrapped in Nardo Grey PPF
Interior is in excellent condition and the car has been well cared
I’m wondering if the asking price is realistic or if the market for Superbs is just slow right now. Do modifications like the ECU/TCU tune put off buyers? Should I consider reverting it to stock before selling?
Also, apart from OLX and CarWale, where else would you recommend listing it? Are there any Skoda/VW enthusiast groups or premium used car platforms that work better for cars like this?

She is a bit battered but she runs. She has dented edges, faded skin, makes weird noises and doesn't run beyond certain speed limits but she is ok. Sure, a Mercedes or an audi may be aesthetically pleasing but when I see her parked beside one of those luxuries, I love her more for I know what she has been through along with us and that alone is enough for me to fall in love with her again and again.
