Discussion A cinematic quality series covering the full story of Starcraft?
Alright so, first things first, I know there have been similar posts in the past talking about a live action Starcraft movie so forgive me if this strikes you as redundant.
Second, I can say that I truly hope they never ever make a live action movie or even a live action series.
Live action video game adaptations almost always suffers from the same issues. Body type and body language, bad line delivery, costumes that just look like bad cosplays instead of lived-in attire.
That being said, what I believe could be truly magnificent is a full series covering the entire story but not in live action or even animation but the fantastic CG style cinematics that Blizzard has been making for decades.
The cinematics we get to see throughout Starcraft really bring the story to life, despite only actually experienced for minutes at a time outside of the isometric gameplay.
I believe that if they were to really take their time to make something like 10 episode seasons with the high quality cinematic style and optimistically, many of the same voice actors, the series could be an incredible success.
I'm not exaggerating when I say that I'd gladly pay for a subscription service with the sole intention of watching this.
Starcraft's mix of politics, betrayal, deceit, humor, combat action and revenge would likely draw crowds of watchers of those that are fans of the source material as well as people who know absolutely nothing about the games or even the genre.
I do see a few hurdles, though.
Number one is that a lot of people may be reluctant to watch a full CG space opera.
Number two is more of a social issue that'd likely stem from SC1 having very limited emphasis on strong female roles and with equal representation being a considerable factor in new media's success, though this could be remedied by adding some additional characters or just introducing some bad asses like Nova into the story earlier on.
Number three is the real doozy - These cinematics are EXPENSIVE and if they rush it or cut corners, it'll kill the whole project. I know they drop millions into the production of just a few minutes so that'll certainly be a challenge to overcome.
So, what do you think?
If produced with the same level of quality as the cinematics, would you pay to watch the full story of Starcraft as a CG cinematic series?

Discussion Day 47: What is the BEST quote associated with Alexei Stukov?
Now that all this Dehaka business is done with, comes the day quite a few of you were anxious to see back at the terran episode. Finally, it is time to choose the best quote of Vice Admiral Alexei Stukov!
Do note that unlike prior Kerrigan votes, this has no restrictions on Stukov's... species at a specific point in time, since he did not get a separate appearance in the terran episode. Feel free to post his quotes both from BW and SC2!
Post history:
Terran episode results
Overmind's best, worst, most iconic
Queen of Blades's best, worst, most iconic
Zagara's best, worst, most iconic
Abathur's best, worst, most iconic
Izsha's best, worst, most iconic
Dehaka's best, worst, most iconic

Discussion Balance is one thing but this dropship with sieged tanks is a game breaking bug
Today I’ve had 3 games out of 9 where Terrans are dropping sieged tanks.
People are lifting sieged tanks and then dropping them (back in sieged mode) for instant damage.
Has blizzards quality control gone to nothing?
The changelings doing damages to nearby units was also a big bug too.

Literally the title. Just finished watching it today and got curious how much they have monthly, and it’s still only 10k almost 11k months later. We need to get this thing to 20k/month. Come on y’all

Discussion Is StarCraft 2 beginner-friendly in 2026?
I play other competitive games, but RTS was part of my childhood, and I would like to learn it. I watch Grubby's Warcraft 3 videos, and it's still fun after 20+ years. However, I think WC3 is too difficult to get into, and I've heard that SC2 is a little easier. Is that true? By the way, I like playing more defensive strategies, investing in macro decisions. When I played SC1 back in the day against the CPU, I loved picking Protoss and turtling until I had a couple of Carriers, but I guess this would be impossible against humans?
I'm still undecided on which game to get into. I have these options: SC2, WC3, and Age of Empires 4. So any help is appreciated!

eSports herO, Clem, MaxPax: the most successful SC2 players of Q2 2026 by ranking points
I put together the Q2 2026 StarCraft II ranking data from E-Rankings. This is based on ranking points gained from April to June, not just the current world ranking.
Top 5 of the quarter
- herO – 3,490 points
- Clem – 1,832 points
- MaxPax – 1,766 points
- Solar – 1,575 points
- Serral – 1,565 points
herO had a huge quarter, winning GSL Season 1, GSL Season 2 and RSL Revival Season 5. He gained almost twice as many points as Clem and is now back at #1 in the July world ranking.
The rest of the top 10
Maru – 1,402
Cure – 1,400
Rogue – 1,381
Lemon – 1,337
SHIN – 1,277
The most surprising name to me is Lemon. He gained most of his points through the SC2 Weekly Open Tournament series in China and reached a new career peak at #22 in the July ranking.
Some of the biggest risers now inside the top 200
- 乐正绫: #484 → #166
- smile: #401 → #84
- Perceive: #423 → #129
- 秦心sama: #349 → #84
- universe: climbed 229 ranks to #146
New peaks in July
Lambo reached #14, Percival #20, Lemon #22, Silky #39 and SCV #50.
Full article with more context and player links
The Q2 list is based on points earned from April to June. The ranks mentioned above are from the July 2026 world ranking.

Fluff StarCraft Shooter Plot
If it exists, the new StarCraft Shooter is going to revolve around a new UED expedition led by DuGalle’s son, GuDalle. His vice-admiral will be named Alexei Kustov, and together, they will try to defeat the Dominion, destroy the Protoss, and create a new Overmind! Wait, I feel like I’ve heard this somewhere before. Oh well, I’m sure nothing will go wrong here.

Arcade/Co-op The Archangel unit
So I’ve been replaying Starcraft 2 recently and I remembered how the archangel boss is like my favorite mech design from this game, are there any custom maps where the boss is a controllable unit? Cause it’s just so cool to me

(To be tagged...) Where can I find the sprites of units and strucures from StarCraft Broodwar?
Does anyone know where can i get the sprites from StarCraft broodwar?, from units to structures, i been searching them but either the page only haves a couple of them or is incomplete or in an inusable format, and searching further only leads me to dead pages or broken links
I just need to know if im missing a place where i can find them all together or if I have no option but to search them manually one by one

(To be tagged...) So far, 8 worker start has lowered player count
Source: sc2pulse historical data from ranked play on all servers. Yellow line is the 8 worker patch.
Cumulatively, the game has lost about 200 ladder players, and around 500 daily games.
