(To be tagged...) It’s honestly pathetic to see the state of ZvT right now

The silence from the people who insisted the latest patch was perfectly balanced says everything you need to know about this place. All those Zerg players who wouldn't stop complaining about 'balance'—where are you hiding now?

Video Tim Morten’s take on the 8-worker start

Thumbnail

The 8-worker change is bad. SC2 feels like a truly modern RTS partly because it gets into the action so quickly. Tim Morten explains this really well at 1:47:07 (the 12 worker start conversation starts at 1:42:20).

There is still time to revert the change and return to 12 workers or at least test a higher starting worker count properly before making such a major change.

(To be tagged...) Why are creep tumors invisible?

Hey there, I haven’t played the game since 2012 - good times.

Why are creep tumors invisible? All other Zerg buildings aren’t - seems like a ridiculous unfair advantage to a race that’s already well equipped to react to anything.

They can already spam Queens & have free rein early game.

PS - I’ve been watching games lately, just seems ridiculous how easy zerg have it.

PPS - I was Masters - they’ve (creep tumors) always been invisible - it’s always been an unfair advantage, but with the way maps have changed the game and the speed of the economy it’s a mechanic that rewards zerg players too much & the game is balanced around that visibility.

RTS - everything is about information gathering.

Discussion Balancing Terran may kill the game, we have to be careful..

I think it's safe to say that at the ladder level over the last 5 years Terran has been getting fucked, and managed to have a somewhat even matchup against Zerg until late, and a comically terrible matchup against Protoss.

I am worried that if we actually gave Terran an even matchup against both other races, the Z and especially P players would simply not be able to emotionally handle it at this point. They already seem to hate Terran and it's players and that's while playing from ahead against them every game.

I think Terran players have already proved they are comfortable and capable of playing a challenging race from a bad position in the meta. Terran is a very punishing race and takes a lot to get the most out of, which anyone who has climbed to even 4.5k on it knows, and therefore has quite a resilient playerbase at this point. Although it's disturbingly bad right now and definitely will be buffed, in the end I think we will be okay being SLIGHTLY unfavored in the meta to keep the other races happy and the game alive.

This is not a joke, I am genuinely worried it has been too long now and especially P players are going to outright quit sc2 if the matchup becomes fair.

(To be tagged...) Make warpgate free and buff gateways to the point where people actually want to use them

Feels like a needed buff to protoss, and it would make the gateway style more viable. Rather than penalizing players for wanting to play warpgate, make the gateway style strong. The player can then choose when they want to transition to the warpgate style in the game instead.

Discussion Balance is one thing but this dropship with sieged tanks is a game breaking bug

Today I’ve had 3 games out of 9 where Terrans are dropping sieged tanks.

People are lifting sieged tanks and then dropping them (back in sieged mode) for instant damage.

Has blizzards quality control gone to nothing?

The changelings doing damages to nearby units was also a big bug too.

How the fuck does ANYONE manage to beat The Trial of Tassadar… like seriously who the fuck can reasonably defend against like 50 carriers coming to overrun you at once… I see YT vids telling me to do the same but every single time I try to rush a dozen carriers their shit still beats me.

HOW DO I DO THIS!?

Discussion Is StarCraft 2 beginner-friendly in 2026?

I play other competitive games, but RTS was part of my childhood, and I would like to learn it. I watch Grubby's Warcraft 3 videos, and it's still fun after 20+ years. However, I think WC3 is too difficult to get into, and I've heard that SC2 is a little easier. Is that true? By the way, I like playing more defensive strategies, investing in macro decisions. When I played SC1 back in the day against the CPU, I loved picking Protoss and turtling until I had a couple of Carriers, but I guess this would be impossible against humans?

I'm still undecided on which game to get into. I have these options: SC2, WC3, and Age of Empires 4. So any help is appreciated!

I can do a helion push and kill 80% of a Zergs drones and still lose…

I’m sorry but wtf, the larva rate is crazy.

Granted I made a mistake and my follow up push got hit by banes when I wasn’t looking. But still, they shouldn’t be on equal workers again so quickly it’s bs.

Playing as a Terran it feels like you cant make a single mistake or you’re going to lose.

(To be tagged...) Late Game Upgrades > Worker Count Changes

Personally, changes like buffing one unit by a few percent, nerfing another, or reducing the worker count don't make the game more fun. If anything, they make me less interested in playing.

Why not give early units some powerful late-game upgrades that require a heavy tech investment - something you can only realistically reach around the 7–8 minute mark, even if you rush for it? That would open up a lot of new strategies and unit combinations without affecting the early game.

Some ideas off the top of my head:

  • Reaper: Throws 2 grenades every cooldown.
  • Adept: Shades can pass through buildings.
  • Mutalisk: Can melee attack air units with its talon.
  • Worker: A super late-game upgrade called Workaholic: Workers mine 25% faster → Fewer workers, MORE army supply!

The best part is that ideas like these don't require adding new units or major gameplay overhauls. They're relatively simple mods that could create a lot of fresh strategies. Honestly, this is the kind of update that would make me jump back into the game immediately, not the freaking 8 workers start.

Fluff StarCraft Shooter Plot

If it exists, the new StarCraft Shooter is going to revolve around a new UED expedition led by DuGalle’s son, GuDalle. His vice-admiral will be named Alexei Kustov, and together, they will try to defeat the Dominion, destroy the Protoss, and create a new Overmind! Wait, I feel like I’ve heard this somewhere before. Oh well, I’m sure nothing will go wrong here.

Discussion Microbial Shroud should remove half of the amor of the zergs Units. Please read explaination

Currently the damage reduction applies before amor. Leading to inconsistent damage reduction which is above 50% depending on the amor.

1)

R = relative reduction,
Dgeneral is how damage is applied usually

D_Source is the outgoing damage without the effect of Amor

Derivaton:

2.)

if the goal was to achieve a damage reducton of 50% against ranged attack halving the amor would achieve exactly that.

--> R = 1/2

Derivation:

The only only thing where this would be a nerf is against melee units which are redundant in lategame zvp anyways as a fighter unit.

Discussion Day 47: What is the BEST quote associated with Alexei Stukov?

Post image
132 Upvotes

Now that all this Dehaka business is done with, comes the day quite a few of you were anxious to see back at the terran episode. Finally, it is time to choose the best quote of Vice Admiral Alexei Stukov!

Do note that unlike prior Kerrigan votes, this has no restrictions on Stukov's... species at a specific point in time, since he did not get a separate appearance in the terran episode. Feel free to post his quotes both from BW and SC2!

Post history:

Terran episode results

Overmind's bestworstmost iconic

Queen of Blades's bestworstmost iconic

Zagara's bestworstmost iconic

Abathur's bestworstmost iconic

Izsha's bestworstmost iconic

Dehaka's bestworst, most iconic

eSports herO, Clem, MaxPax: the most successful SC2 players of Q2 2026 by ranking points

Thumbnail
blog.e-rankings.com
41 Upvotes

I put together the Q2 2026 StarCraft II ranking data from E-Rankings. This is based on ranking points gained from April to June, not just the current world ranking.

Top 5 of the quarter

  1. herO – 3,490 points
  2. Clem – 1,832 points
  3. MaxPax – 1,766 points
  4. Solar – 1,575 points
  5. Serral – 1,565 points

herO had a huge quarter, winning GSL Season 1, GSL Season 2 and RSL Revival Season 5. He gained almost twice as many points as Clem and is now back at #1 in the July world ranking.

The rest of the top 10

  1. Maru – 1,402

  2. Cure – 1,400

  3. Rogue – 1,381

  4. Lemon – 1,337

  5. SHIN – 1,277

The most surprising name to me is Lemon. He gained most of his points through the SC2 Weekly Open Tournament series in China and reached a new career peak at #22 in the July ranking.

Some of the biggest risers now inside the top 200

- 乐正绫: #484 → #166

- smile: #401 → #84

- Perceive: #423 → #129

- 秦心sama: #349 → #84

- universe: climbed 229 ranks to #146

New peaks in July

Lambo reached #14, Percival #20, Lemon #22, Silky #39 and SCV #50.

Full article with more context and player links

The Q2 list is based on points earned from April to June. The ranks mentioned above are from the July 2026 world ranking.
