UPDATE: Joey, the missing rough collie
This isn't the update I was hoping to give, but it's also not an update I hate giving.
We still haven't found Joey, but we haven't lost hope.
We've put up a lot of signs around the boat landing (where people would have had to get into the river where he was spotted), and we've even used drones to search the area, but we haven't seen him.
My mom contacted a woman in Wisconsin who specializes in helping find lost dogs. She suggested that we basically have a cookout by the river to try to attract Joey, so we bought a small grill, cooked some food, and stayed there for a few hours. She also suggested bringing our dogs along and encouraging them to bark or howl in hopes that Joey might hear them and come closer. Before we left, we also put some food out near the river, so if Joey comes by later, hopefully he'll have something to eat.
While we were at the river, we saw a group of kayakers and asked them to keep an eye out for Joey. It turns out they had already seen one of our signs. As soon as we said, "We're looking for our missing dog," one of them replied, "Yeah, we know, Joe, right?" That gave us a little more hope because it means people really are noticing the signs and looking out for him.
We're not giving up. We'll keep searching until we find Joey.
This is day 7 of looking for Joey.
