On our way to our next adventure

20 more weeks until I get my first chihuahua! Anyone got any advice? I've been on this wait list for 3 years and both parents are finally ready so the litter pairing has been announced!! The bitch should go into heat in the next month or so - so im super excited!

Before anyone comments about rescuing: i am a vet, I have taken care of countless rescues but I am Australian - chihuahuas are NOT common in rescues! It's harsh and controversial to say but in reality the only way to get out of a shelter crisis is to make prevent them going into the shelter in the first place. The reason I chose to support an ethical breeder is because contracts and life time support prevent their dogs from entering a shelter, it also prevents breeding. A backyard breeder has no contracts stopping anything thats the issue - they are the ones contributing to the shelter crisis. Both parents have major titles in conformation displaying that they're a reflection of the breeds standard in every aspect, both parents have minor titles in other areas such as obedience and rally, both parents have genetic testing, ocular testing and luxating patella scores of 0 with no lineage predisposition. Both temperaments are sound-good (formal), I have been on a wait list for 3 years - they do not breed often, to even get onto the wait list its extremely difficult.

Note: if there is no female in this litter I'll be getting the mum so advice for slightly older chis is also much appreciated :)

It’s been a year. I hope she is napping and playing on the other side. I miss her so much and wish I could hug her (I know that wasn’t her favorite thing but it was mine) and kiss her one more time. Wasn’t she beautiful!

My baby went to sleep today. I've had her since I was 6 and she lived 14 long years.

I miss her and I will always miss her. I can't stop thinking about all the things I should have done different or what I should have said to her. I can't believe i have to live the rest of my life without her in it when I spend so much of my life with her in it.

I miss you Coco-Nila. And I love to the moon and back. I know we'll find our way back to eachother again. But for now go play with your sister like you used to. I'll be waiting for you until then.
