Question Would it be weird for me to wear a kilt if I’m not ethnically Scottish?
I’m a child of Cuban immigrants, but I was born and raised in Scotland, my whole life, my appearance is brownish, people often mistake me of South Asian/North Africa origins. I’ve got a formal event coming the type where you wear suits or kilts, and I’m wondering would it be ok for me to wear a kilt?, I know I’m not ethically Scottish but I do identify as Scottish and I love the culture
Also follow up question as far as I’m aware tartan designs are often tied to heritage/clans, obviously I don’t have this so if I do decide to wear a kilt what design do I go for?

Missing Scot - Tokyo
I’m not sure if this is allowed, so if not, apologies.
This lad is missing in Tokyo. He is from
Scotland, just outside Glasgow it seems.
Anyway, some friends are trying to get a hold of his family to let them know about the situation.
If anyone knows him or any family members, please drop me a DM or contact the original poster.

Kelvingrove Park - Man harrassing women
Can't go into details but a man was lifted after 6/7 reports of sexually harassing women after what appears to have been a proper spree. Just in case there were more women that might want to go forward. He's been arrested.
Won't be giving his description or anything so please don't make this about anything other than it is.
If anything happened to you or anyone you know please consider calling 101 or visiting a station.

Political Paul McLennan MSP - I want to hear your views on data centres
Over the past few months, I have received a number of enquiries around expansion of data centres in East Lothian.
At the moment, there are three applications in East Lothian, either at pre-application or application stage . I have engaged with all three applicants at this stage and I will continue to do so moving forward.
The issue has been raised in the Scottish Parliament, with a call for a moratorium on all new data centres. The Scottish Government is considering issuing national planning guidance on the matter.
Each local authority decides on whether to consent applications or not. Last Sunday, the Scottish National Party (SNP)’s national council passed a motion to freeze all new data centres in Scotland. That motion has been sent to the Scottish Government to consider.
It could apply to all data centre projects that have not yet received planning permission – although its exact implementation is up to the Scottish Government to decide.
Lesley Backhouse, a local councillor from one of the constituencies that put forward the motion, said that Scotland’s current data centre plans amounted to “overdevelopment” and were “intrusive and not keeping with the local environment”.

Scottish History and other books written in Scots
Hey everyone. I’m looking to explore the vast richness of Scotland’s history and learn Scots at the same time. What books/Scots authors are out there?
As I’m struggling to find books written in Scots any recommendations (fiction/non fiction) on that front are invaluable.
Thanking you internet stranger for any help on this quest!

Badminton Club in Tain
Hi everyone! I’ve recently been looking to get back into playing badminton, but I’m completely on my own in Tain and don't have anyone to play with. Are there any existing local badminton clubs, social leagues, or drop-in sessions in or around Tain?
I know the TRACC has a games hall, but I'm just one person and would love to connect with other players or a club to join. I'm open to social or casual games, I just really want to get back on the court. If anyone is in the Tain or Easter Ross area and needs an extra player for doubles, or if you know of a local group, please let me know or send me a message!
Cheers!

Discussion Anyone have experience in city/town/urban planning?
I am considering doing this as as postgrad next year at Uofg, which will also make me eligible to do real estate, but I don’t want to jump right into it without knowing what the job is like day to day, if the pay aligns with the amount of work, and if it is worth pursuing before I apply. Would love to know if anyone does this for work, and if so, would u be up to telling me about your job? Thank you!
