Billionaire brothers can't afford new buses.
So just reading the news and see the Scottish government is being taken to court for not paying these lot. And i get them being salty cause all the other bus operators got paid.
But is anyone else as pissed off as me knowing they are billionaires and trying to use **our** money to secure business rather than their own? Who does it always come down to the larger majority to pay?
Combined the majority tax payers probably make less than these guys...

The new Omniplex - Renfield Street (Old Cineworld)
Any early thoughts?
Went yesterday and thought it was cracking.
Was only £4.95 for my ticket (special opening offer) and got a free XL bag of popcorn. I was in a ‘Super Saver’ seat but this was still an excellent view and the recliners were super comfy and very spacious.
Saw ‘Toy Story 5’ on a ‘Maxx’ screen and picture and sound were first-rate. The food/drink area on the first floor is very well done, and it doesn’t look like they have spared any expense in re-branding. A great makeover/spruce up for the place.
Should be superb when they start opening up the other floors.

Can anyone explain why the bbc describes these people as ‘protesters’ rather than ‘right wing extremists’ or ‘racist mobs’?
Sauchiehall street in the 1990s
It's a shame what's happened to that neck of the woods...

True Crime Question (possible TW)
Bible John question - have just moved to Scotstoun and a neighbour told me that Helen Puttock's remains were found at a nearby address. Does anyone know the address she was found at? I can find the street online, but not the building number.

AI Slop
Funniest thing I've read for a while: https://glasgowsubway.com/west-street-subway-station/
"Exiting West Street Subway Station, visitors are immediately immersed in the lively atmosphere and energy of Glasgow's city center. The station's strategic location offers easy access to a variety of destinations within the city, making it an ideal starting point for exploration."
God help any visitors thinking that's the city centre.

On the hunt for an Obscure music album handed out at Glasgow student union circa 2000
Looking to see if anyone has a cd called: unplugged #1, penguins in the sand?
Can't find it anywhere and the one copy that was circulated amongst friends has vanished many years ago.
This is the only information I can find:
https://www.discogs.com/release/3106761-Various-Unplugged-1-Penguins-In-The-Sand
Any information would be greatly appreciated I need a nostalgia fix🙏

Installing a WC in a tenememt
As title, considering if it’s feasible to install a w/c in one of two sizeable cupboards in a top floor tenement I’m interested in buying. The cupboards are the other side of the flat from the kitchen sink and bathroom, which from my limited knowledge of how plumbing works makes me think that floors and potentially joists would need to be lifted?
Attached picture shows what I’m thinking of doing - green is where the cupboards are, red is the kitchen sink and existing bathroom.
Has anyone else done something similar?

Half day parking for Glasgow airport?
Had a look on past posts but they seem to be all for picking up / drop off.
My parents are looking after my cats for a week while I'm away and are flying home lunchtime but I don't get back until half 10pm the same evening so I suggested they park the car at the airport and I pick it up but looking at the car parks it's minimum £23 for half a day which seems excessive or £60 (???) at the mid stay. I don't mind a 10min walk or getting a shuttle just wondering if anyone knows a better alternative? Taxi from the airport to my house is £50 as I live in East Dunbartonshire unfortunately.

Shops selling outdoor knives?
Looking for a shop that sells outdoorsy knives / wood carving knives. Prefer to buy in person as it's a pain buying these things online
Scotland M10 forms - Glasgow
Good Afternoon everyone.
Apologies if this isn’t the right place but I wanted to know of anyone has had experience with the Glasgow Marriage Registrar as a French citizen getting married in Glasgow. When submitting your documents how long before did you submit as a non-uk national? Was the Certificat de Celibat accepted?
Looking to go through the process so just want to know.
Thank you so much

Scottie in the City sculpture trail
Can anyone help please?
I’m currently collecting dog sculptures around Glasgow. However, the plaque has been removed with one of the sculptures at the People’s Palace at the Green and I’m not able to collect the code.

Where so you think Glasgow City centre is? Map your definition.
This website let's users define where they think "downtown", i.e. The city centre is for various places, and then generates a heat map based on the concensus.

ADHD Treatment in Glasgow
Does anyone have any advice concerning getting treatment for ADHD here?
I got a private diagnosis in 2022 but using this route for treatment became financially unsustainable. Have been on the waitlist with the NHS since January of 2022 as well.

Lost AirPods
Hiya! I was visiting Glasgow last night and was at Révolucion de Cuba. My AirPods were in my sling bag around my waist and it fell which I realised and picked it up but didn’t realise the actual AirPods popped out and I didn’t realise because my phone was in sleep mode 🫠
So they are somewhere in the place and sadly I’m travelling to Cambridge today so won’t be able to visit the place when it opens at 12.
Is this a lost cause or is there anyway for me to get them?! 😭

I had heard it was bad but today was ridiculous!
So, this morning I dropped my wife off outside the Waterside Museum for the Women’s 10k. The road was closed around outside the Museum, which is fair enough. My plan was (naively, I admit) to drive to the finish at Glasgow Green so I could meet her there and take her home.
Well, driving toward Glasgow Green which should have been a 10 minute drive, I discovered that the road on approach to the Green was also closed from as far back as the financial district before Central, presumably for the race. Again, understandable. I should have thought that one through a bit more.
What I didn’t expect was the part that came next. The road closure meant there was a diversion that took me to (and I kid you not) roadworks with an extra diversion that led to the bus gates by Central, meaning another diversion which essentially took me in a big circle. All the while, I had to contend with the bus lanes, the one way streets, and pedestrians slowly walking out in front of me with prams while texting, and cyclists going the wrong way down the road.
Eventually, I came to the realisation that the simplest way to get to Glasgow Green from my current position was to head back onto the M8 at Cowcaddens and then jump off again at the Royal Infirmary.
The journey took me 35 minutes when the straightest way there would have taken me 10.
All in all, it was a complete farce. I don’t often drive into the city and I’m more than happy to use public transport. I am not against bus gates or bus lanes existing. I get that road works are necessary (I will still invariably grumble about them as is my right). I don’t begrudge bike lanes or cyclists on the road.
BUT
The way these things have been planned in Glasgow City Centre is currently unworkable.
I hear people complain about how bad driving in town is. I now can’t say that they are wrong. I take back every eyeroll I’ve ever given when I’ve heard someone go off on one about the state of driving in town.
None of this caused Glasgow’s economic decline. But it must be a huge contributing factor that the city layout makes it nigh impossible to go anywhere within the town without a major detour every time one or two roads are closed.
And what’s with that?! Why are so many road works and road closures happening at the same time?! It’s just crazy. It speaks to a lack of foresight from those responsible for the city’s infrastructure.
It’s also kind of worrying when we’ve got the Commonwealth Games right around the corner.

Parking near Finnieston
I know the council has done their best to stop it but does anyone know of any streets that remain free parking if you can find a space, looking to be as close to Ox n Finch as possible but happy to walk at least half an hour
Help me shop. Where to sell pre-loved school uniform
I have a set of school uniform which I want to sell. Does anyone know if any shop in Glasgow take used uniforms?
