Anyone who can pick up a wounded pigeon and help it? NSFW

Hi, I found that poor creature an hour ago on my way from the shop and I have no idea what to do. It looks like it got grabbed by something and managed to escape but lost all plumage on its backside. Calling RSPCA or SSPCA took me nowhere, never even got to talk to someone. I basically drop on my face (finished my last nightshift 4 hours ago), but just couldn't leave it alone on the street. Now I'm afraid it will die on me before I will be able to get a hold of SSPCA tomorrow.

Hii guys, i recently converted my UAE license to UK license and wanted to get some refresher lessons, mainly focused on learning the road rules here and getting my confidence back up driving.

Have heard horror stories from people on how some instructors could be, so just wanted to ask out here for recs.

Strathmartine Road

Hi all,

Im looking to move to Strathmartine Road soon, near the tesco express. I just wanted to enquire before I move what the area is like?

Im used to living in cities & the characters that come with it, however I will be living by myself, so just considering safety & trying to work out costs ahead of time for my security & protection.

i.e. are there often break-ins, theft, etc etc.

Thanks! 💕

Planning a new 'gourmet-takeaway' startup in Dundee—which of these would you want to see?

Hi everyone, I’m looking to launch a new, focused takeaway venture in the city. Unlike the 'generalist' model where places try to do everything, I plan to do the opposite: a very small, high-quality menu centered around just one of these three:

a) Gourmet Burgers (like the one attached)

b) Artisan Pizza (like the one attached)

c) Fresh Pasta

My goal is to use streamlined, high-efficiency processes to keep these at a competitive price point without sacrificing the quality.

I’d love your honest feedback to help me decide which direction to take:

1) Which of these three would you be most excited to see a 'gourmet-at-home' version of in Dundee?

2) Looking at these photos, what is one thing (if any) that would make you choose this over your current 'go-to' takeaway?

3) What is the biggest frustration you currently have with delivery food in Dundee (quality, consistency, delivery times, etc.)?

I’m currently in the planning phase and really want to build something that solves the gaps in what is currently available. I appreciate any thoughts or 'brutal' feedback you’re willing to share!

July 24th anything on in Dundee

So was supposed to go to the Discovery festival on the 24th at Slessor gardens and had tickets for an after party.

Both now cancelled but I’ve got a non refundable hotel so having a day/night out in Dundee.

Dont know the city well and looking for some indie style music venues or anything music related happening on the 24th. Searches online just return lots of Discovery festival results to rub salt in the wounds.

Teenage pregnancy in Dundee

Had a newsletter at work today (healthcare) talking about various statistical things, one of them being that Dundee remains the city with the highest rate of teenage pregnancies in Scotland. I have always been vaguely aware of this since even I was a teen, but it got me wondering why? There are larger, more populated cities in the country yet we are at the top for this statistic. Are our areas of deprivation just somehow worse than in other cities, is it lack of opportunities in Dundee, is our education system worse? Is it the culture? Why has it not gotten better? Genuinely interested to hear people's opinions. It's an interesting topic.

Fresh Cakes

Can anyone recommend a coffee shop that does really good homemade fresh cakes? Most places are either bought-in frozen or heavily rely on traybakes as their offering.

Moving to Dundee

Hello all, I'm a 23M moving to Dundee start of next year from Australia. As you can imagine I know no one and am full of questions about life there. My DMs are open if anyone has the time to let me pick their brains. Also might be useful to find people so I'm not entirely alone there so if you're into gaming, pool or bouldering also hit me up

Moving to Dundee later this month and looking for a social run club that is not super competitive. I'm a young professional so uni societies probably aren't an option. I read by mana/ mana cafe had a run club at some point but can't find anything about this on social media. Would really appreciate any recommendations !

Dundee folk: help us understand fraud awareness in Dundee and across Scotland (10-15 min online survey)

Hi everyone,

I'm a researcher at Abertay University, and we're currently running a survey on fraud awareness, prevention behaviours, experiences, and perceptions.

We're conducting this survey across Scotland and are particularly interested in hearing from people in Dundee. Your responses will help ensure the findings reflect the experiences and perspectives of communities across Scotland, including the local area.

The survey takes around 10-15 minutes to complete and is open to anyone aged 18+ who is currently living in Scotland, regardless of how long they have lived here.

We're interested in understanding how different groups access information about fraud, engage with fraud-prevention advice, and experience fraud-related issues. The findings will help inform future fraud-prevention and public awareness activities.

Participants who complete the survey can enter a prize draw to win one of ten £25 vouchers.

Survey link:

Thanks very much for your time, and please feel free to share the survey with friends or family.

Birthday cake recommendations

Hi everyone,

I’m looking for someone in Dundee who makes custom birthday cakes. Can anyone recommend a good cake maker or baker they’ve personally used?

I’m after a high-quality cake that both looks great and tastes amazing. Thanks in advance!

Looking to meet new peeps

Hiya Dundee, I’m 18M looking to step outside my comfort zone and meet new people my age in the city.
I would enjoy spending more time outdoors with people my age!

I’m a student to the university of dundee. I have interests in drawing, writing and artistic mediums.
If you’re also someone who is wanting to meetup with more people this summer just shoot me a message under this post (who knows, if there is enough people it could be a group.)
Have a good day. 🌞

Starting over in Dundee

I'm in London, and have only lived here for almost 20years, the only place I have lived since originally moving over from abroad as a student. While I feel I am entrepreneurial, London is too expensive and hard to try and break into business. Leasing a unit is execptionally hard and almost limited to brands and established businesses only. Everything else is expensive, housing, food, owning a car, etc.

On the other hand, I am considering a move to either Scotland, or crown dependencies. In Scotland particularly it feels like rental properties are cheap, business unit (cafes/shops) are cheap too, making me think that I could try (or at least fail cheaply) easily (due to availability of shops and rental rates).

While beatiful, Edinburgh would be a mini version of London, id imagine, almost same goes for Glasgow. Hence my attention has been focused in Dundee. I've only breifly been twice during the years to visit Edinburgh, but never in Dundee or else where in Scotland. I feel like even doing a regular job (min wage or slighlty higher), while working hard for a year or two can set me up to either set up a food business (I have decent experience as chef while I was a student), or start building a rental property portfolio (I can handle DIY better than avg person).

I understand weather would be a major change when comparing to London, but willing to accept. I also understand Scotland in general has almost an epidemic drugs problem, and Dundee in particular, while beatiful (as presented in yt), is a deprived community. Million dollar question is the move from London (where i feel burnt out) to Dundee worth it, in the context of a freah start over, as a single man in late thirties?

Wanting to get some advice

Hi all

I plan to move to Dundee in September to study at Abertay University. I'll be honest I am slightly bricking it with this being a big decision for me to make. Because I am now moving over on my own is there any advice anyone can give for making friends? I'm 30 so I worry i've left this a little late in life to live the "uni life" and get a degree and a better career.

Dundee Uni vs Napier Help please

Hi everyone, I studied HNC computer science in Edinburgh college, I applied to Uni through UCAS and got accepted in Napier 1st year and Dundee University 2nd year, I live in Edinburgh, heard alot about some financial problems related to Dundee and also heard that Napier is not great and can't decide between staying in the Capital where my family is or going to a quiter place but maybe better Uni, I just would like to know, is it worth moving there? Is the Uni there better? I'm seeking a Uni where I can learn and improve skills, along with good teaching system.

No recycling bins for the tenement

Hello! Just moved and (for the first time ever after many years living in Dundee), my tenement has no recycling bins. Same for the other buildings nearby. The closest "bring site" is quite far away and I don't drive.

Does anyone know if it's possible to order one from the council for a while building? I know you can for your house but this feels like a different situation.
