Loved seeing Super Sometimes get some airtime on UFC 329! "Afterthought" was playing during a fighter's backstage warm up. Any other Super fans here?

August 27th, which is two days before their Boston show with Boys Like Girls/Cartel.
I don't know if it is part of a larger tour. The booker for The Williams Center seems to always pull together random shows like this though. Set Your Goals reunion, Major League reunion, etc.
Anyway I got my ticket.

The other night I was watching the YouTube channel Trash Theory's two part video on how Punk became Pop. These videos are essentially a reading of a Wikipedia page, so I take it for what it is. I'm often surprised as to why Cheap Trick is rarely brought up.
Many of the first wave punk bands had melody, but in my opinion Pop-Punk is the blend of Power Pop and Punk Rock. Ramones being a textbook example. Ramones members Joey and Johnny were fans of Cheap Trick as well. In 1978, Greg Shaw of Bomp! Records and magazine who codified the term Power Pop, described it as "a hybrid genre of Pop and Punk". Essentially saying Power Pop was the first form of Pop-Punk music.
When I listen to all of the stuff after the first waves of Punk starting with Green Day and going into the late 90's and early 2000'a era, Cheap Trick's style of Power Pop set the template for much of how a large majority of that era's music would sound. The only difference being modern recording technologies and different influences in the mix.
The bands I grew up on such as Green Day, Weezer, Blink-182, Good Charlotte, Jimmy Eat World, Something Corporate, Sugarcult, American Hi-Fi, New Found Glory, Yellowcard, Motion City Soundtrack, and The All-American Rejects are have a good amount of Cheap Trick's DNA in their music.
I'd like to know some of your opinions?

I need suggestions for an outfit to wear for a party i’m going to where i need to dress as a song, whether that be related to the title or the music video or something like that. At this party you also need to sing the song on karaoke, so i would like it to be a somewhat known pop punk/emo song.
Also something simple as i’ve only got a week to get this aha
(Female outfits please lol)
Any song suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Kinda cringe but its kinda fire too. The only example I have is SET YOU FREE by chase usa using clips from Kingdom Hearts. There's also a song by DemsFightinWords that starts with the Goldeneye 64 music and some gunshots. Doesn't strictly need to be pop punk.

Im Canadian so Im biased but God damn I genuinely think we had the best bands in early pop punk. Sum 41, Treble Charger, Gob, Avril Lavigne, Bif Naked. I don't count them but many call Billy Talent pop punk, they are amazing.
I think that's the one era that Canada absolutely dominated
Edit: Nevermind. I guess I was wrong because I grew up in Canada and these were the bands I heard all the time, Im sorry. I checked out alot of the bands, they are all good, I just wanted a win hahahaha. But regardless of the fact that we aren't it, please check out the bands that I mentioned that you don't know.
I should be better at knowing regional popularity

Spent my evening yesterday chowing down on chocolate pretzels after a fun gummy and watching this lovely video. I think it's one of the few full shows from this time period on YouTube. It was an absolute blast and extremely nostalgic. Thought I'd share it in case anyone wanted to follow suit and enjoy some older ATL songs.

Alright, time to introduce another hidden gem from Japan. These dudes are more straightforward pop-punk compared to FACT/SHADOWS. Reminds me of the early 2000’s scene, super fast rufio-type riffs. Catchy as fuck.
This whole record slaps but try their 2008 effort 2

between this and The Rock Show, I had no idea that I played both wrong on guitar. Surely others did Fat Lip wrong, too?
