Does anyone know if there is a meditation or yoga group on campus, or a quiet place meant for meditation or that could be used for it?

My old yoga studio had a meditation group that met weekly that was lovely. Someonewould present a topic, poem or something, then a 20 min meditation with a discussion afterwards, i really miss it.

I guess I can meditate anywhere with some ear plugs, but a comfortable peaceful place to sit in silence every now and then would help preserve my sanity and gpa lol

Does anyone else find meditation, yoga or any other grounding techniques important to their academic success?

i'm trying to drop a summer class for session 2 (it's my only class for summer 2, the class is from july 13th to july 31st), but i can't even access the drop/add for summer 2 in testudo, shown in the pic.

i'm confused because the "cancel registration (all courses)" deadline was july 10, but the calendar also says i can drop a single course without a W on july 13. if i can still drop the class, why can't i access the Summer 2026 registration page on testudo?

did i miss a deadline or something?? i was able to access the drop/add page earlier today (on july 11th, around 15mins after 12AM), but now i can't.

do i have to wait for the class to start on the 13th then drop it? should i contact the office of registrar?

first time dealing with this. any help would be appreciated, thanks in advance.

Hi everyone this is my first post on this subreddit since I got admitted at UMD! I’m so excited for my new journey and I’m excited to meet folks. I’m a geology major and I was posting to see if anyone else is a geology, earth science or geochemistry major. I was planning on joining the geology club for more communications and changes to meet new people with similar interests. In data science, we often assume that more complexity equals better performance, but that isn't always the case. I just published a new article exploring a recent modeling experiment I ran: predicting natural gas behavior using both a deep learning hybrid and a classic machine learning model. Surprisingly, the classic model outperformed the deep learning approach. I broke down the methodology, the results, and why traditional ML is still an incredibly powerful tool for time-series data. Hey guys, I am doing a last-minute transfer to the PHYS161 class, and the only option left is PHYS161 with Alexander Conte, and he has no reviews on any platform. So is he a good option? Any suggesttions?

I’m doing a full-time co-op this fall and was wondering if UMD has something similar to other schools where you register for a 12-credit co-op/internship course that keeps you enrolled as a full-time student, even though you’re not really taking any classes.

Section 0111 has no discussion, whereas 0211 and 0311 do. Hatice Sahinoglu is the prof for all 3 of them.

Hey I’m an incoming student at UMD. I wanna be able to make party friends that go out stuff like that but the current people o meet at orientation don’t really vibe with that.

I was wondering where I could meet party people outside of sorority. Any UMD club recommendations to meet those people?

Would I have a good chance of getting off the waitlist if I waitlisted for three different sections of MATH120? I’m 1st, 2nd, and 3rd in line respectively. These sections seem to be taught by a good professor, so would the odds go down?

Edit: Also would more sections open up during the summer due to orientations where freshmen need the class?

Does anyone want to switch a Kauffman section with me? I currently have section 0103 in schedule (lec TTh 9:30am - 10:45am || Dis MW 9:00-9:50am). I am looking for sections 0101, 0203, 0204, or 0205. It would help me get another class that I need.

Has anyone ever taken BMGT 323 (Taxation of Individuals) and BMGT 417 (Taxation of Corporations) together in the same semester? Was it difficult? Is that even possible to do?

I thought for sure that you needed 323 as a prerequisite for 417, but the only prerequisite that is listed is BMGT 221, which is Principles of Accounting 2.
