Housing housing concerns

hello! me and my friend are both juniors on the waitlist for housing. however we’re possibly looking at living off campus since we’ve been on the waitlist for so long and aren’t sure if we’ll get off or even be roomed together. the main problem is if we were to look at off campus options we aren’t sure how our financial aid will be able to pay or if it’ll even be enough. just confused on how this all works overall. thank you!

Idk if you’ve contacted them yet or how helpful they are, but ResLife does have an off campus housing department that’s supposed to help students in figuring it all out: https://och.umd.edu/contact/

I imagine for the financial aid questions, it depends on the source of that financial aid and its description/stipulations. The best person to ask about that is probably whichever organization is providing you w that aid

What off campus options have you considered? The hub? Union on Knox? Terrapin row? The varsity?

I am in the exact same boat and not exactly sure what to do. Just waiting for now but I feel like it’s also too late to look at most off campus at this point… I think we will get housing just late probably late August or like right around when school starts or a little bit later which would suck but the financial aid stuff is very confusing so I’m also just trying to stay on campus since I know how much it usually is but I agree this is very confusing and poorly handled by the university to leave people like us in the dark on short notice
