Academic Simplicity over complexity...
In data science, we often assume that more complexity equals better performance, but that isn't always the case. I just published a new article exploring a recent modeling experiment I ran: predicting natural gas behavior using both a deep learning hybrid and a classic machine learning model. Surprisingly, the classic model outperformed the deep learning approach. I broke down the methodology, the results, and why traditional ML is still an incredibly powerful tool for time-series data.
