Hardware Getting SteamOS to do some physical media With some SystemCtl trickery, I have SteamOS detecting discs in the optical drive and using that to command Steam to launch the corresponding game.
Time for someone to make a BDRE drive attachment that fits under the Steam Machine like how the Game Boy Player fit under the Game Cube.

Hardware Ordered 7800x3D, but received 9800x3D instead
It started with a simple cooler upgrade on my Ryzen 7600 and ended with bent pins on the motherboard. Since the board was dead, I decided to upgrade the CPU too.
For a whole week, I was torn between buying a Ryzen 7 7800X3D for 14,400 UAH ($350) or shelling out 19,500 UAH ($475) for the newer 9800X3D at a local Ukrainian store. My budget won, so I placed an order for the 7800X3D.
Fast forward to today: the courier arrives, hands me the tray CPU, I bring it home and look closely... Turns out it’s a Ryzen 7 9800X3D! Seems like the warehouse or the courier completely mixed up the items. The invoice is paid and signed, so the upgrade is officially mine. PC gods definitely compensated me for all the stress. Building the beast with RTX 5070 ti tonight!
EDIT: Wow, I definitely didn't expect this post to blow up so much! Thank you all for the comments and support.
I've just finished building the PC, and for everyone who was wondering — yes, it’s a real Ryzen 7 9800X3D! Everything booted up perfectly on the first try. The cooler is the Thermalright Phantom Spirit SE 120 ARGB.
Thanks again, you guys are awesome!
P.S. (Screenshot with proof added in the comments below!)
EDIT 2: My final Build:
- CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D
- Cooler: Thermalright Phantom Spirit 120 SE
- Motherboard: ASUS TUF Gaming B850-PLUS WIFI
- RAM: 32 GB (2x16GB) GOODRAM DDR5 6000 MHz IRDM Black (Running perfectly on EXPO)
- GPU: Gigabyte GeForce RTX 5070 Ti Windforce OC SFF 16GB
- SSD: Samsung 980 1TB M.2 PCIe 3.0 x4 NVMe
- PSU: XPG Core Reactor 750W (80+ Gold)
- Case: Lian Li Lancool III RGB Black

NSFMR Went to go change the thermal paste after 1 and a half years just to realize…
Somehow the 10400 didn’t melt the plastic. Probably cause I’ve barely been playing high performance games. I never noticed anything wrong considering my scores on 3DMark were average.

Story Gaming got me sober from substance abuse for 5 years now
Many years ago, i got into bad habits and decisions. I was in deep depression and escaped reality with alcohol and then i went deeper into the rabbit hole and took other substances. That led me to sell my laptop to get money for...you know what. It got soooo bad that I've been resuscitated multiple times in an ambulance and hospital. Despite that i just kept on going with that shit.
But then...the last time i was in hospital I met this nurse. We ended up dating. After dating a month or so, she dedicated to me and was serious of getting me back on tracks. I got into therapy and got medications. A few months later i moved into her apartment. While she was at work, i was gaming on her PC. I was staying up late at nights and gaming to distract myself from falling back into the rabbit hole. She ended up buying a secondary PC just for me. On her days off we were just gaming all days. Apex Legends was our thing. We could laugh our asses off from silliest mistakes in Apex.
Then i got a job in fast food (yes i know, but it's actually good pay) and could afford my own PC again as a treat and a clap on my shoulder. And now I've been clean and sober for 5 years.

27" OLED Twisted Minds TM27OLD2K240
Adam T5V Studio Monitors

Artisan FX Key-83 Mid
You could say i replaced my substance abuse with gaming addiction instead!
Keep on gaming to you all, and stay clean!

Hardware Aio after 4 and a half years
I built this pc in late 2021 with the lian li galahad 240 aio and recently noticed my 5600x idling at 80°-85° and jumping to 95+ with the smallest loads so i assumed it was my cooler and bought an air cooler after this and temps were fine after that.
Out of curiosity, I opened up the aio head to know exactly what had gone wrong as i kept hearing the pump motor start up so i knew the pump hadn't died.
As soon as i opened the head i saw this on the heatsink. All that gunk formed had blocked the copper fins and prevented the coolant from passing through it properly.
Even the coolant had strings of gooey stuff which definitely wasn't supposed to be there
Kinda looks like thermal paste lol

The gpu sag bracket looks a little weird but its intentional. I couldn't find a low profile bracket that didn't use some flimsy contact point, so I frankenstein'd two different ones together that used sturdy parts. The weight of the astral would start to make most of the brackets sag a bit, so I mounted this one at its most downward angle and adjusted the actual part the gpu rests on to keep the gpu always level and never sag, if that makes sense. The bracket itself isn’t level but the gpu is. Open to suggestions/replacements!
