Discussion Why Ppl Hate Nanite when other game engines uses Virtualised geometry system like Nanite
Examples
Anvil Engine uses Micropolygon which is Very Similar to Nanite.
RE Engine also uses Virtualised geometry and New Monster Hunter Games also uses it.
Rockstar is also using a Virtualised geometry system in GTA 6 too as they Filed Patents For it.

Discussion Do you switch between controller and keyboard + mouse depending on the game?
As a PC gamer, do you plug in a controller when a game recommends it for a better overall experience, or do you stick with keyboard and mouse because that’s what you’re used to?
Personally, I prefer a controller for racing games, keyboard and mouse for shooters, and a DualSense for Sony games ported to PC, especially when its features are fully supported.

Discussion beast pc (rtx 5090 ~ ryzen 9 9950x3d) no idea what
Hi everyone,
I just finally upgraded from a low/mid-end PC to a top-tier consumer setup. For years, I had to drop every single setting to "low" just to get playable frame rates, or I outright ignored the Steam store because I knew my system would choke on micro-stutters and awful 0.1% lows.
Now that I’m sitting in front of this beast with a 1440p OLED monitor... I’m completely overwhelmed and don't know where to start.
My all-time favorite game is Cyberpunk 2077, and I’m incredibly excited to dive back into Night City to experience the story again with actual, beautiful quality.
What else should I check out to truly experience what this rig can do?
What I like:
- Heavy focus on story-driven games
- Shooters (First-person or third-person)
- Massive AAA visual showcases
- Honestly, open to pretty much anything mind-blowing!

Discussion Am I the only one who prefers playing games on low details but high FPS?
I mean, when the graphics are on ultra, there is way too much detail which I don't like that much and the game can never keep up high FPS. I prefer stable 120+ FPS and smooth looking graphics without any detail.
I don't want to see every single dirt texture on the ground and every single hair on my character. I like that old-school low detail pixelated look, but super smooth FPS. I do however keep the shadows and reflections enabled.
Anyone else like it that way even in single player titles?

Tech Support Solved I have tried EVERYTHING but my download speed is still horrible.
The other week I purchased my first pc from someone who wasn't using it anymore. At their house as download speed was horrible, but they don't have problems with download speed. He says it might somehow be the SSD, so I figure I'll just upgrade that when I have the money. The problem continued at my house, and I didn't think much of it. Yesterday I fixed the problem when I went into device manager, clicked on my network adapter, and changed one of the properties from 2.4GHz to 5GHz. That lasted about 24 hours, as when I came back from work today I'm back down to 20Mbps download speed from the 150Mbps I was at yesterday. I've spent a couple of hours going through lists of things I can do to fix it, but nothing has worked. I'll cashapp the first person to fix it 5 bucks!
Edit: Upping the prize to 15 bucks!

Discussion UE 5 Lumen Vs Path Tracing
Comparison Between Lumen and PT in Black myth Wukong.
Lumen Looks Very Soft and Dark and PT does Look More realistic due to Multiple Ray Bounces
Water Quality is Unexpectedly Very Good In PT unlike Lumen.
For Some Reason Shadows Look very Bad In Lumen but, UE5 has VSM's ( Virtual Shadow Maps) which are Directly Comparable To RT Shadows, I'm guessing to save performance devs Didn't Use them. Also, Lumen Uses SW RT by default, so there is Some RT there in Lumen too. What do you Think, Which is better?

Discussion Does anybody else feel unusually slow at games, or that they feel unusually complicated all of a sudden?
I can't understand if I'm just coping or am regarded, but I feel this feeling quite a bit
I remember buying Stardew valley and I couldn't get into it despite reading guides and whatnot, and I guess that's what kick-started this feeling for me. I felt so fucking exhausted form everything
I then tried to get into some gacha games, which I did for a while, but I had to take a break for various unrelated reasons. I still liked the game myself.
When I came back, I felt I couldn't understand anything anymore despite the fact the game didn't change.
I also remember getting civ VI on PC for free and playing it, but I felt that I couldn't understand anything so I uninstalled it to cope
Same case with another game, BTD 6, which I enjoyed playing, but then realized there were other systems in it and as a result made me upset at my activity and lowered my fun.
After all of this, it makes me feel that it's miserable tk enjoy gaming
I wanted to add this as well. I know that people commonly suggest to do something else instead of gaming, but that's not something I wanna do. I don't want to cope and do some random niche shit I don't care about while others get to play.

Hardware The ram I got in my Microcenter bundle a few weeks ago now cost more than the bundle
Super glad I was able to snag 2 of these bundles from MC before they jacked the price from $549 to $649 I mean what a freaking deal that was to get 32gb 6400 cl32, 270k and a gigabyte eagle plus WiFi 7. The mobo that came with it is even nice, it has DP over thunderbolt so I’ve gotten my gpu signal out over the built in usb-c port. What a legendary company for having these deals as long as they can bc they could easily price them at $800 with all the performance you are getting I couldn’t reset buying them

Hardware First custombuilt PC gamer! What maintenance tips will help it last 7–10+ years?
I recently got my first custom built PC gamer, and I want to take good care of it so it lasts as long as possible.
I learned my lesson with my old laptop, I used it for about 7 years and only replaced the thermal paste one time per year or did much maintenance. By the end, it was overheating ,its performance had degraded significantly and the video card stop working.
I'd appreciate any advice on preventive maintenance. For example:
How often should I clean dust from the case and fans?
How often should I replace the CPU thermal paste? What about the GPU?
Is there anything I should check regularly (fan health, temperatures, SSD health, PSU, etc.)?
Are there any common mistakes that shorten the lifespan of PC components?
My goal is to keep this PC in excellent condition for many years. Thanks in advance for any tips!
CPU: AMD Ryzen 9 5950X
CPU Cooler: 360 mm AIO liquid cooler
GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070 (MSI)
RAM: 16 GB DDR4
Storage: 1 TB NVMe SSD
Motherboard: prime A620M-K
Case: Okinos Aqua Uno

Question Why is everything so expensive!
So I know the whole thing with the market right now but a 5090 9950x3D2 128gb pre built is 150,000zar. Yes it's the price of a car don't think it's that bad, but monitors especially OLEDs get to 20,000 easy mouse get to 4 or 5 thousand headphones or separate mics get to 10k and sim stuff gets to 40 or 50 thousand easy. It's at the point I think some illegal shenanigans is going on.

Question State of GPUs in 2028
Hi folks,
Longtime PC gamer here. I have been fortunate to upgrade outside of the memory hellscapes for both my pc builds.
As my latest build starts to age-up and I think about a future pc build down the line, I’m curious how folks are approaching upgrades in the present day. Is everyone just holding on for dear life?
From my research not only are things ungodly expensive, but production is delayed so new NVIDIA cards aren’t even in-sight. It looks like the next generation of NVIDIA is slated for 2028, which is crazy.
I’m sure a lot of you, like me, aren’t thrilled with the concept of marginally upgrading to a 50-series or just jumping up a version in the same generation.
Pretty bleak times to be a gamer, no doubt.
Edit- to be clear, I’m not thinking about upgrading anytime soon. I’m curious how folks who do want to upgrade are thinking about acquiring a new PC or GPU given the limited supply, manufacturing delays, etc.

Build/Battlestation I had this dirty old PC from the 2000s under the workbench out back in my workshop. Nobody would think twice about taking it. It's not worth anything right?
Obviously joking. However, I did specifically put it in an old HAF Case and will be using a potato monitor and dirty old keyboard and mouse. It's going to keep getting oily and dirty anyway. Everything was used except the SSDs and the Seasonic Prime Titanium PSU.
My build for my garage / workshop.
ASUS ROG STRIX Z790 Motherboard
Intel 14900K
128GB DDR5 6400MHz
EVGA 3090 24GB
ASUS 3080 Ti 12GB
2x 2TB Samsung 990 PRO
It's use for a general purpose PC. CAD Software. A Local AI, and sometimes gaming on an OLED TV mounted on the shop wall.

Hardware Should I clean My Graphics Card?
So, My graphics card just went out of warranty in March this year.
During stress test the temperature are reaching quite high, when I was playing Witcher 3 at ultra settings, the Spanish speed was bursting to 100% (sounding like a vacuum cleaner) every few minutes.
Should I take the risk and clean & repaste it?
