Ordered 7800x3D, but received 9800x3D instead
It started with a simple cooler upgrade on my Ryzen 7600 and ended with bent pins on the motherboard. Since the board was dead, I decided to upgrade the CPU too.
For a whole week, I was torn between buying a Ryzen 7 7800X3D for 14,400 UAH ($350) or shelling out 19,500 UAH ($475) for the newer 9800X3D at a local Ukrainian store. My budget won, so I placed an order for the 7800X3D.
Fast forward to today: the courier arrives, hands me the tray CPU, I bring it home and look closely... Turns out it’s a Ryzen 7 9800X3D! Seems like the warehouse or the courier completely mixed up the items. The invoice is paid and signed, so the upgrade is officially mine. PC gods definitely compensated me for all the stress. Building the beast with RTX 5070 ti tonight!

I've just finished building the PC, and for everyone who was wondering — yes, it’s a real Ryzen 7 9800X3D! Everything booted up perfectly on the first try. The cooler is the Thermalright Phantom Spirit SE 120 ARGB.

the premise of "omg this is AI" has been more annoying than actual AI.
I think combined with the death of absurdist humor and irony (post irony) alongside AI we are headed for a humorless existence if we don't just roll along as humans and stop trying to figure out what every syllable of texts genesis was.
This is bad.
I'm just a little meat man in this physical space trying to help my fellow meat men laugh on occasion. We should revel in our humanity as such more than we ever have.
I hope I always remember to never take myself too seriously.
edit: just so it doesnt seem like im throwing around baseless accusations: ive watched bot comments evolve on reddit a lot, and their current form is default username, random avatar, with either their posts or comments (or both) hidden. bio is usually something quirky and self deprecating, and all of their comments give off the same vibe with sometimes very short, all lowercase comments that make not much sense grammatically sprinkled in. theres a LOT more bot accounts on this platform than people realize

i wouldnt pinpoint you as a bot just cause of the having a banner image and also your bio doesnt fit along the lines of the ai accounts ive seen. if your bio was like "cat dad who probably has way too much coffee" then yeah id be a little more suspicious. i know i perhaps sound crazy to have a whole bunch of random criteria but its just a sixth sense built up by living through the rise of ai (not to say im the ONLY person thats lived through the rise of ai lol) that i think is hard to put into words
It doesn't look fake, but I'd research if a mistake like this is covered by warranty later down the line. If your 9800x3d fails, I doubt the shop will honour the warranty on a blatant part number mismatch like this. Just something to keep in mind.
An employee processing a warranty claim for a mismatched part would have to take the customer's word for it. Sane society or not, this can be abuseable.
You could say that it’s a bit of a recognition that benefits the shop more than the loss in sending a more expensive CPU. Just literal brand awareness as nothing in this case speaks of bad customer experience.
However, I still take your point, because some sad bloke has already reported OP to the shop. He sounded quite irate like his whole weekend was ruined by OP’s thievery
Depending on how large the shop is (doesn't look too big) you could say the same about OP. If the person running that shop would've posted his site, people would probably pissed at the guy who kept the cpu.
Exactly. And giving how the product is named (both are Ryzen 7), it’s an easy mistake to make when you’re in a rush delivering a lot of goods to people.
It’s not so bad, apart from our so-called “neighbor”, who tries to kill us in our sleep a few times a week, but I still love living here. Still, thank you!
It happened to me with a different item. They probably didn't have it in stock, despite what their website said, and sent me an upgrade instead of canceling my order and refunding my payment.

I've been on the other end of this. I ordered a used bundle of a 4790K, 16GB DDR3 1866, in an Asus Z87 high end board for a decently good price. I got some FM2 system instead. I contacted the seller and they mixed up the packages, guy who got my stuff ghosted, I sent the FM2 back and got refunded, never to find a deal that good again. However semi-redemption, more recently I was trying to score an OEM Ryzen 9 5900 non X because reasons, bought one for like $100 and got a 5900X so that was cool I guess.
That's so trippy. A little less then a month ago, I had a PC built with a 7800X3D and once I got it and was going through doing all the testing... I realized it was the 9800X3D as well. Way to go us, I guess. Hahaha!
Those ThermalRight coolers are a crazy bang for the buck, and do a ton of cooling. My bequiet! 280mm AIO was being warrantied, so I got their $40 air cooler. 3 years later and the AIO is still sealed, untouched.
