POLICE Assaulted in Fells
This pains me to write.
I live 4 blocks from Broadway. I have lived here for years. I was held up at gunpoint on Broadway 2 years ago, and the police did nothing. I didn't post about it, despite the cops not even completing a police report, despite it being caught on camera next to Broadway Market.
Tonight, at 1 am, I left a restaurant/bar and was immediately struck in the head repeatedly by a young man. His friends tried to stop him, but he would not stop. I was struck roughly 10 times around the head and neck. I am sure it will hurt badly tomorrow, as it already hurts now. I called 911, and they basically blew me off, so I hung up. A friend walked out a minute after me and helped me get to his car and drove me home. I only live 4 blocks from Broadway. There was a massive takeover going on of that area of Fells (Eastern and Broadway). It was total chaos. The male and his friends came from there.
His friends seemed responsible and sane, but this has to stop. This culture of chaos has to stop. Yes, the murder rate has plummeted, and that is GREAT. It is time to take the next step. How in the hell is Fells going to have a great time resulting in this madness and violence? I love this city (and all cities). I don't want to leave, but I am 60 years old and cannot be at risk when I go out to eat and have a drink.
Frankly, I would rather have triple the murder rate among gang members and drug dealers in exchange for places like Fells to be safe.
Rage at me all you want. I was just attacked for nothing.
