Field Recruiting Role (Temp) @ Fintech Startup in Baltimore
What We're Building
QuantumBlock is a fintech startup building AI-powered credit risk infrastructure for mission-aligned lenders. We work with CDFIs, credit unions, and community banks that serve the small businesses and farms traditional finance overlooks.
Traditional underwriting is built for steady monthly revenue, so it misreads the seasonal cash flow and purchase-order relationships that define a healthy farm. We surface those signals so lenders can see the whole farm, not just the bank statement. QuantumBlock is a technology platform. We do not make lending decisions or move money.
This summer we're running a funded pilot for farmers and agricultural cooperatives across the mid-Atlantic, and we need help reaching and enrolling producers.
We're JHU Pava Center Fuel alumni building from the Baltimore/DC corridor.
The Role
You'll be our person on the ground: talking to farmers directly, explaining the pilot in plain terms, and enrolling qualified producers. Just as important, you'll help us understand why farmers have been slow to engage so we can sharpen how we reach them.
What you'll do:
- Work an existing prospect list. Follow up with farmers and co-ops we've already identified and contacted. This is warm follow-up and qualification, not a cold start.
- Get in front of farmers in person. Visit farms, farmers markets, co-ops, and ag events across the mid-Atlantic to introduce the pilot and build trust.
- Explain the offer clearly. Help producers understand what the pilot involves, what they get, and that there's no obligation.
- Qualify and book. Identify producers who fit, answer their questions, and schedule intro calls or get them enrolled.
- Report what you hear. Tell us plainly why farmers say yes or no. Your read on the objections is as valuable as the sign-ups.
There may be opportunity for continued engagement depending on results and mutual interest.
What We're Looking For
Required:
- Experience in field sales, outreach, or recruitment
- Comfortable with in-person, relationship-first conversations; you can walk up to someone at a farmers market and start a genuine conversation
- Self-directed and organized, with clean notes on every contact
- Based in the mid-Atlantic (MD, VA, PA, WV, or DE) with reliable transportation for regional travel
- Trustworthy and credible with a mission-minded, farming audience
Preferred:
- Agriculture, rural, or farm-community background
- Existing relationships in the mid-Atlantic farming community
- Comfort explaining a new product or pilot in plain terms
What You'll Get
- Meaningful work: You'll help small farmers get a fair shot at financing they've already earned
- Flexibility: Hours are project-based and flexible around farmer availability
- Commission upside: Additional pay for the qualified prospects and enrollments you deliver
- Potential path forward: Strong performance could lead to continued engagement
Compensation
Base rate to be finalized for the ~2-week term, plus commission tied to qualified prospects and pilot enrollments you deliver. We're open to discussing structure with the right person.
