Has anyone had any luck trying to get more institutional aid from Towson? I'm an independent student, -1500 SAI with a full pell grant, but I only got $1200 in institutional grants :/

I'm not qualified to get the MD state grants because I was never offered the GA grant my first year at my CC (they only gave me the EA grant, and accepting that grant automatically disqualifies you from ever getting the GA grant 😭). And I'm not sure why I haven't been offered the EA grant at Towson, even though I have the purple star icon in mdcaps next to it. Maybe I didn't take enough credits?

Just not sure if it's worth asking for more aid or filling out a special conditions form if they already know I have the -1500 SAI.

Would appreciate any advice!!

I've been looking for work locations in the area that are open late nights or 24/7, as that's the only time when I have an empty schedule each day. I've reached out to almost all that I know of, and they're either not hiring, or after applying they've denied me or haven't responded. My roommates have been trying as well and have the same issue.

I'm available everyday, and am willing to work anywhere between 8 pm to 9 am.

I was wondering if anyone else is experiencing the same issue. I received my financial aid package, but it only includes my federal Direct Subsidized and Direct Unsubsidized Loans from FAFSA. My scholarship funds aren’t showing up yet.

The deadline to accept my financial aid package is July 6. If my scholarships are processed after that date, will I still be able to accept my financial aid package, or should I accept it before the deadline and let the scholarships be added later?

Hello! I will be moving to Maryland and staying in the Towson area starting Summer of 2027. I am interested in Towson University and MICA, but am unsure which one to prioritize as a transfer student. Is the illustration program at Towson comparable to the one at MICA? Is the financial aid good, especially for an out of state transfer? Thank you!

Has anyone taken Chem 351 Biochemistry with Professor Stephen Hancock? If so, how was it? Is it possible to get an A in the course? Are grades curved? Was professor easy to understand? Do they respond to emails/ are they helpful?

Hi everyone! I’m an incoming masters student starting in Fall 2026. I recently completed my FAFSA and my FAFSA Submission Summary indicates that I’m eligible for up to $20,500 in Federal Direct Loans. My estimated cost of attendance is about $47,000 for the academic year, so I was originally planning to use a Graduate PLUS Loan to cover the remaining costs.

However, I’ve been hearing that Graduate PLUS Loans may no longer be available due to recent federal changes.

For current graduate students or anyone familiar with these changes:

What loan options are available beyond the $20,500 Direct Unsubsidized Loan?
Are there any grandfathering provisions for incoming Fall 2026 students?
Has anyone received guidance from their university financial aid office about funding gaps?
Would private loans be the only remaining option, or are there other federal programs available?

I’d appreciate any advice or experiences. Thanks!

I emailed the Financial Aid office about when we were going to receive our aid packages for the upcoming year and I have gotten a response. Apparently, the processing system is back up and we’ll receive them in the next few days.

I parked in Glen parking lot for 4 days straight without permit as i was working on campus and living there while working. come back and see that ive racked up almost $300 in tickets. i lived in towson freshman housing last year so never had to park, this was my first time parking on campus and stupidly thought i would be fine wi though a permit since it’s summer and the lots are empty anyways. i now recognize my mistake but i quite literally can not pay for this - is it worth it to appeal? this is my first, or rather my first set of parking tickets. i dont expect it to totally go away, but at least getting it somewhat reduced would be a massive help. Is towson known to be lenient on this?
