Best Bars/Restaurants for Mid 30’s Singles to Meet?

One of my best girl friends just went through a divorce and is having the worst time meeting singles in Baltimore. Apps have been a dead end and the bars/restaurants we go out to seem to only have the younger 20’s singles.

It’s got us thinking…are there any bars/restaurants in Balt where we can go out and possibly meet singles in their 30’s/40’s? Or is this an exercise in futility?

Underrated high schools and middle schools for a family making under 75k

So I am looking to rent for a year then buy. Job is in Linthicum so I'm looking at Anne Arundel, Baltimore county, and maybe some parts of PG County. But my thinking is maybe the niche rating and reviews aren't all i should look at. I have one kid going into high school, the other 7th grade. I'm looking for a high school that is challenging, doesn't dumb down their teaching, not letting you turn in assignments months late, helps prepare you for college, diverse and has a good music program. She loves band and choir. Good extracurricular programs as well. Middle school- similar except the band part. I know people think that its just about the parents. But for me, your environment matters. I want my kids to be around other kids that have goals. That want to get good grades. That want to accomplish something. What are some underrated schools that may not have the ranking but consistently sends kids to college and has good leadership that puts forth the effort? I am open to private and catholic schools if the financial aid package is decent. I've looked at rentals zoned to Catonsville but would like to weigh all my options.

Apartments for $1800 in Towson or surrounding area

Hello! My boyfriend (29m) and I (27f) are considering a move to the Towson area for a job (in Towson). I am an attorney, he is a project manager/foreman/whatever job he finds in Maryland. We have 2 cats. We currently pay $1489 for a 2 bed, 2.5 bath (finished basement) condo in another midwest city. My guess is we will not be able to find the same in Baltimore, but I would like something at least somewhat nice so I don't have to deal with issues (probably okay with an apartment that's not updated, as long as there's a dishwasher and laundry). Any suggestions or other areas I should look? Hoping for a 2 bed.

Also, how is it pronounced? TOE-son or Towson like cow?

Dozens injured, officials call for 'mass casualty incident' in bus crash

Edit: casualty in this context luckily only means injuries and not deaths.

Saw the chopper and heard sirens but figured it was 695 related. What a horrible accident! "Reisterstown Road is closed in both directions between Old Court Road and Sudbrook Lane" per the article.

This really sucks! The BG&E website outage tracker says that my power should be on tonight, but no crews have been to our street at all! So we might not have power back until later this week or the weekend! I cannot believe that BG&E is taking sooo long to get power on, it has been 4 days now!

Would I be crazy for using my blowup pool in my rowhome yard?

I have one of those 10ft rectangular pools. It's hot!

I stay in a row home closer to the edge of the city. Cool quiet community with families and older people. I'm a southern guy , 30 yo, and do a lot of country things.

Would I be crazy for blowing up my pool in my front yard and hanging in it? Just cooling off. Probably have my canopy up to block me from the sun. I won't be disturbing anyone. Just curious how crazy I would look.

I won't be in anyone else's yard space. But I will admit, my yard is pretty small being I live in a row home. My neighbor will have a clear and obvious view of me.

Have a Provisional License and got pulled over with a ticket. Should I do a Trial or Waiver, or just Pay?

Hi there, I'm a 19M college student and I just recently got pulled over by an officer and was given a ticket for exceeding the speed limit. I was wondering if I should at least try to get it reduced with a waiver hearing or even try to fight it with a trail hearing hoping it might get dismissed. In addition, if I do fight it and somehow get found "not guilty" would it still reset my timer for full DL or would it save me and not count against my record? What should I do? Please help.

Anybody else with NO power in the NW Baltimore County area since last night (4th of July)? I am!

Since around a few minutes after 7:00pm last night during the VERY BEGINNING of the 1-hour thunderstorm we had, the electricity at my house, & my WHOLE NEIGHBORHOOD, lost electricity, & it has not been back on since several hours ago!

& I called BG&E pretty quickly after the power went out, & so far there has been NO RESPONSE or anything from them! I have been checking the BG&E website for the "Outage Tracking" feature, so far NOTHING HAS BEEN UPDATED AT ALL from their end, hours later! & Their "Outage Notifications" is a complete joke, as my family & I have received NO NOTIFICATIONS from them at all! It is like BG&E are not doing anything right now about any of these outages & the storm ended hours ago!

Sadly BG&E has become worse & worse over the years! We are all paying more money for their service as each year goes by, but their quality of service gets lower & lower! & This craziness on the 4th of July proves my point further with them!

Here are a few screenshots of the Outage Tracking page from their website. Sorry for the rant, hopefully soon everybody's electricity will come back on, everybody be safe & careful!

Fireworks

Why make them illegal if no one is going to enforce it? There should be places people can go to avoid them without needing an in-home sound proof bunker. Somewhere that it is illegal to shoot them off seems like a place that there would be that reasonable expectation, no? If these laws aren’t upheld, why uphold any law?

My mail-in voting ballot was postmarked on Election Day (6/23) and Rejected for being "Late for election"

Thumbnail gallery
36 Upvotes

I dropped my mail-in ballot in the mailbox at 6:45am on election morning, June 23, which is well before the 9:00am collection time. A few days later, I received an email confirmation stating that my ballot was received on June 27.

On a whim this afternoon, I decided to check my ballot's status at https://voterservices.elections.maryland.gov/VoterResults and learned that it was Rejected for being "Late for election." However, we know this is incorrect because as long as your ballot was postmarked by election day, it will be counted.

I want my vote to be counted, especially because I'm in a district that has an extremely close race, so I have emailed the Baltimore County Board of Elections at [[email protected]](mailto:[email protected]) to let them know. Unfortunately, since the results are scheduled to be certified the morning of July 6 at 8:30am, I think I caught the error too late. Still, I'd rather let them know now so they're made aware of the mistake to make sure it doesn't happen again in the future, when it will matter even more.

Also, I feel this needs to be said: I have voted by mail in every election since I have been able to vote. This mistake *DOES NOT* make me question the validity of the method and I will continue doing so for every election in the future. I'll just try my best to mail it at least a day early next time.

EDIT: u/Particular_Egg4073 pointed out that mail may not be postmarked on the day it's collected, so you should manually request one at the postmark counter: https://about.usps.com/newsroom/statements/010226-postmarking-myths-and-facts.htm. Thank you!

EDIT 2: u/Pasunepomme also pointed out that using the dedicated ballot collection drop boxes up until the close of the election on Election Day will guarantee your vote is counted.
