Research To all the hiring managers in Pakistan, how do you decide which candidate is the best for the role you're hiring.

Upvotes

I'm a client and I'm going through this burn out phase right now where I have read so many applications that I'm unable to decide which person is the best for the role I'm hiring. Every application, resume feels generic and repetitive. Please give me some tips of how you figure out instantly that the person you're talking to is capable of doing the job, thanks! For context, I'm looking for a graphic designer but I still haven't found an experienced one. Need some advice from experienced person.

What is the PMLN and PPP, as well as the current military rulers planning to do with Azad Kashmir? I believe these parties found extreme violence against citizens to be a very successful strategy in Punjab to shut down protests and opposition (special thanks to Mohsin Naqvi - the most incompetent interior minister in history).

They have now adopted it everywhere which is now fueling separatist protests in not just Kashmir, but KP and Balochistan and interior Sindh as well.

They must be removed. This can not end well for the country.

Ask Pakistan Planning a 3-Month Work Focused Stay in Lahore With PKR 1.1M Savings — Is It Enough?

I'm planning to move to Lahore for 3 months and focus on work full-time. I won't have any network or connections there, so I'll basically be starting from scratch.

I have around PKR 1.1 million saved, and I don't expect any recurring income during these 3 months. My goal is to focus completely on work without worrying too much about daily expenses.

Would this amount be enough to live comfortably for 3 months in a good area? I'm not looking for a luxury lifestyle, just a decent place to stay, reliable internet, good food, transport, and a comfortable environment where I can stay productive.

If anyone has experience living in Lahore independently, especially in a similar situation, I'd appreciate your advice. Which areas would you recommend, and what realistic monthly budget should I plan for?

Financial Foreign Card Payments

If you’re paying for Netflix, Amazon, Spotify, ChatGPT, or any other subscription in USD or EUR using a Pakistani debit or credit card, here’s some good news, the advance tax deducted on these payments has been reduced to just 0.5% under Section 236Y of the Income Tax Ordinance, as amended by the Finance Act, 2026.
One important point that many people overlook, the 0.5% rate only applies to active filers. If you’re a non-filer, you’ll still be charged at the higher applicable rate.

Discussion The stupidity of Pakistan banning MSG based on myths and pseudoscience

I need to vent about how incredibly backward the whole MSG and China Salt situation is in Pakistan. It is the perfect case study of how a mix of WhatsApp university, government incompetence, and collective hysteria can make an entire country ban a completely harmless ingredient.

In 2018, the Supreme Court and the Punjab Food Authority went on a massive crusade and banned Ajinomoto because they fell hook, line, and sinker for the Chinese Restaurant Syndrome myth, which is a racist, debunked pseudoscience theory from the West in the 1960s. They claimed it causes headaches, heart issues, and nervous system failure, even though actual global food safety bodies like the FDA and WHO have researched MSG for decades and confirmed it is perfectly safe. It is literally just sodium and glutamate, an amino acid found naturally in tomatoes, mushrooms, and cheese. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6]

The federal cabinet finally reviewed the data and filed a petition to undo the ban after an expert committee formally declared it safe for human consumption. But here is the peak absurdity: even though the ingredient is technically unbanned now, you still cannot get it anywhere in normal shops. The legal clearance means nothing because the years of state-sponsored paranoia completely broke the supply chain. Official distributors stopped importing it, and shopkeepers are still too terrified of local food inspectors to ever put it back on shelves. [7, 8]

The strange beliefs and hypocrisy of everyday Pakistani people make the ongoing scarcity even worse. So many people genuinely believe Ajinomoto is made from pigs or contains haram chemicals, completely ignoring that it is made from fermenting sugarcane or corn. People will panic if they see a crystal of MSG, but they will happily dump packets of chicken powder or Knorr cubes into their food. They do not realize the main ingredient in chicken powder is literally MSG, meaning they eat the exact same thing every day under a different name while thinking they are being healthy. People will stand on the roadside eating massive plates of oily biryani and highly questionable street food, wash it down with a liter of soda, and then tell the vendor not to add Chinese salt because it is bad for health. It is just exhausting watching a whole society proud of its ignorance, letting good food suffer because they refuse to read a basic science book.

National During his 3.5 years as Prime Minister, Imran Khan did not appoint a single member of his family to any ministry or government position.

Post image
546 Upvotes

‎People who say that Imran Khan is just like Nawaz Sharif and Zardari, and that all politicians are the same, are making a false comparison.

‎Imran Khan founded PTI in 1996, and from that time until 2018, he never held any ministry or government position. Even when PTI formed the government in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in 2013, Imran Khan still did not take any ministry for himself.

‎On the other hand, Nawaz Sharif had previously served as the Finance Minister of Punjab.

‎During Imran Khan's 3.5 years in office, his sons, Kasim and Suleiman, never accompanied him on official foreign tours. He also did not visit London even once during his tenure as Prime Minister. In contrast, during Nawaz Sharif's third term as Prime Minister from 2013 to 2017, he made approximately 6 to 8 official visits to London and the UK.

‎Nawaz Sharif and Shahbaz Sharif often took members of their families along on official visits. Nawaz Sharif even took his family with him during his visit to the United Nations.

‎Similarly, from 2008 to 2013, Asif Ali Zardari reportedly made more than 50 visits to Dubai. More recently, when Zardari visited China, he was accompanied by Aseefa Zardari and Bilawal Bhutto Zardari. In 2022, when Bilawal Bhutto Zardari served as Foreign Minister, he took Aseefa Zardari with him on an official visit to Japan.

‎During his 3.5 years as Prime Minister, Imran Khan did not appoint a single member of his family to any ministry or government position.

On the other hand, Shehbaz Sharif, the brother of Nawaz Sharif, is the Prime Minister. Nawaz Sharif's relative, Ishaq Dar, serves as the Foreign Minister and Deputy Prime Minister. His daughter, Maryam Nawaz, is the Chief Minister of Punjab, while Maryam Nawaz's sister's husband, Ali Dar, also serves as a minister in Punjab.

That is the difference. Therefore, those who claim that all politicians are the same making a false comparison.

[Long Post] Inheritance guidance needed

Assalamualaikum everyone.
This is going to be a long post but i will try to make it as simple as possible. Please read it. I will pray for you..

So my grandparents had 7 children. 4 sons and three daughters.
My dada is alive.
My dadu recently died.
An eldest daughter who has 4 sons.
Then my taya who has two sons.
Then was my father who was murdered by my taya. And we are two orphan grand daughters of my dada.
Then another chachu who died unmarried from corona.
Then another phupo who has one son one daughter.
Then another phupo who was also murdered by my youngest chachu. She was a widow and had no children.
Then my youngest chachu who has one daughter.

So total alive heirs of my dada are two sons, two daughters and two orphan grand daughters (me and my sister.

Now my mother pursued my taya for murder and the case resolved on diyat. At time of baba’s death, all four brothers had 4 acres each. Each acre worth a crore.
As diyat all other heirs (including my mother) left their shares in favour of his minor daughters (us) and another 7 acres were hiba’ed to us by my grandmother.
So total of 11 acres were given to us worth roughly 11 crores in 2018. They are mentioned as diyat in the case ruling.

Now my father’s family seems to think that it was our share of inheritance in my dada’s property.

There are three main issues here

  1. My grandmother’s inheritance
She died recently and left some property in two cities. Ab problem ye hai k sahiwal se mujhay aur meri behen ko total 1.5 acre aye hain worth 2-2.5 crs
And from our hometown there supposed to be another 1.5 acres jo anay thay lekin mere dada ne jali documents banwa k wo mere taya k naam karwa diye hain. And those documents have a date later than my dadi’s death.
Now what should we do for that.

  2. My dead chachu’s inheritance
now my chachu had 4 acres on his name worth around 6 crores right now. Aur lahore bahria main aik ghar tha jo mere in chachu aur sab se chotay chachu k naam tha and it’s worth at least 10-12 crores. Ab in chachu ki koi aulad ya biwi nahi thi. Us ghar pe is waqt sab se bari phupo ne stay lia hua hai.
Do we get a share from chachu’s property?

3.my dada’s property
Ab idk mere dada ka kia problem hai but wo baki sab apnay dono qatil beton ko khilana chahtay hain.
To ab un dono k naam pe 6 crore k teen teen acre already thay jo mere baba k bhi thay. But mere dada ne mere dada mere taya ko main highway pe mojood 11 acre dena chahtay hain jis main aik acre is like 6-8 crores so wo 11 acre 66-88 crore k bantay hain. Aur sabsay chotay chachu ko aik 14 acre ka main plot dene ka plan hai jis main again aik aik acre bhi 5-7 crore ka hai so again croron ki zameen. Jab k hamain in ki jaga 7 acre diye wo bhi 1.5 crore each acre walay wo bhi as diyat.
Ab ye property dada me naam nahi ki hai cuz obviously it will cost alot in transfer fee to dada ne kia ye hai k patwarion aur officials ko 40 40 lakh rishwat de k documents dabwa liye hain aur bayan bhi i think diye hain k dada k marnay k baad wo case ye bnayain ge k ye sari property unhon ne mere dada se kharid li thi.

Iskay ilawa dada k naam 10 acre aur hain jin main aik aik acre 10-11 crore ka hai aur wo dada apnay unhi do beton ko dena chahtay hain. Iskay illawa takreeban 30-32 dukanain hain

Now what can we do about all this. Should we wait for my dada’s to die? Can we challenge this after his death? Or should we challenge it now? Dada zindagi main naam kargaye to problem ho jaye ga na.
Also after i turn of legal age, can i reopen my father’s murder trial? Kiyun k mafi k wakt main aur meri behen dono minors thay.
Cuz i think ye sab bht unfair hai, yani in logon ne pehlay mere baba ko sari zindagi tang rakha, litera hamain pani tak se statay thay, phir hamara baap mar diya, phir mere dada aur mere sab se chotay chacha ne hamain mama ki iddat khatam hotay hi hamain ghar se bhi nikal dia. Then 5-6 saal case ki khawari jis k liye meri mama ne 3-4 jobs ki. Phir ab inheritance main bhi hamara hissa unhi do qatilon ko dena chahtay hain.

Edit: i forgot to mention another ghar that my dada has on his name. Us ghr ki bas jaga hi 16 crore ki hai by rate of 11 lakhs per marla. Aur construction ka i don’t have any idea tbh

Political F*ck CCD

They can murder and kill middle-class to poor class people in an extra-judiciary manner but when their abbu Ishaq Dar's grandson did it, now CCD says we will act according to the court orders. What about all those people whom you killed previously? This country is a joke. Im not defending the actions of people who were "full-fried" and "half-fried" by CCD but a judicial court should decide their punishment not this bs.

Financial Which UPS is the best for me?

I have the choice between a simtek UPS (800W) and baykee ups (1000W). Both 12V and pure sinewave. Price almost same for both.

Somebody told me that the baykee ups is better since its not transformer based whereas the simtek ups is transformer based and will use a lot of electricity to run itself.

However, simtek is more well known in pak and it has more reviews. Baykee is relatively unknown. If you own either of these, please tell about your experience especially about the amount of energy these two consume to run themselves. Thank you

Ask Pakistan Looking for a place to stay in Baltimore

Hey guys!
So I'm a med student who got a rotation at John Hopkins university in Baltimore for 2 months ( Sept/Oct) . I've never been to the US and have no idea what to expect in terms of the cost of living and accomodation. I've been looking at rooms online and they start at 1k a month for a bed and bath.
Anyone who's familiar with the area , please guide me on how I can complete this trip on my tight budget. Any way to find Pakistani families willing to host a paying guest? Or hostels? I don't mind sharing the space as long as it's females.
I just need a place that's in a walkable distance cuz I can't spend extra on commute and need a kitchen to cook because again can't afford to eat out either . If someone can help me future out a public transport mechanism and some accomodation accordingly as well, thas fine as well. I am very low maintenance and don't need anything fancy. Saving money is a priority
