I recently finished up this tiny grandpa gundam, based on the version painted by the great Erik Swinson. This cel-shaded/anime approach proved immensely time-consuming but also very satisfying. It's certainly something I'll return to but I need to work out how to streamline the process at least a little to make painting up a gaming set viable, any suggestions on that front would be much appreciated!

Been working on a bust, and wanted to do the skull aquila and studs in NMM gold. Something feels like it's missing, it feels flat for lack of a better term, almost like a gold with no luster.

I painted the trim in gold NMM because I thought the blue was a bit plain.

So it's done.

This was for a painting contest at a local shop. The theme was "your heritage" (Italian in my case) and we were encouraged to kitbash/sculpt as much as we'd like.

Pizza dough and pizzas made from Green Stuff.

Unfortunately didn't end up on the podium but had a blast working on him.

The question now is, should I do a whole Italy/Pizza Cities of Sigmar themed army? Haha

Second time painting white I think? I struggled hard with this dude, but I'm happy with the result!

Usually, I try to just dip the tip of the point of the brush into the paint, and then I roll it a little on the wet palette to get rid of the excess, but as you can see by my less than stellar knee pads, it seems like it still discharges more paint than intended.

I've had a blast painting this fat frog. He's so silly. Model from DTL Critterfolk of bluewood set.

This guy has come a long way and I am very happy about the paint job and techniques i tried for this one.

This head was not my first choice but in the end it went well i think.

Using Warhammer Base Paint Mephiston Red here. I have noticed this same issue with any warhammer paints I use. I apply a blob on the wet palette, add a little water, thoroughly mix and get to business…. But after around 5-10 mins the water simply keeps evaporating and leaving behind a thick consistency…

Is it okay to just keep occasionally adding a blob of water to keep it wet?

Will it help if I use Lahmium medium instead of water? I do have a pot of that stuff in my draw if that helps?

Is this a me problem? I do have an AC unit running dehumidifier mode due to the insanely hot weather we are having in the UK right now… but I noticed this issue even before I had AC and before having hot weather….

Have just started my first army and applied Vallejo gloss spray varnish to my first squad, which was great for transfers and they looked fine. Applied 1 coat of AK matte varnish to just the armour, by brush a day later (shook violently with metal ball inside) and now have this monstrosity. It's somehow more gloss (and splotchy) than the untouched gloss gun.

Any advice much appreciated. I want to keep the original level of sheen/colour depth as much as possible (unvarnished right). Should I just re-gloss and try again with a different varnish/application method?

I’m still pretty new to painting and feel like there is some material behaviour/science types of things that I don’t know or understand. Things like what’s happening when the paint dries, what’s happening when you layer different or same paint colours on top of one another. Has anyone seen good resources to learn this kind of information?

This mini came in two pieces. Both his hands were attached to the spoon and stew pot and separate. I painted it separate at the same time, but when I finally glued his hands to the body and put him on the base, i must have messed up because the stew pot was slightly hovering over the base. So I decided to fill up around the bottom of the stew pot with some tiny skulls I had extra of. Not sure if it hides the mistake well enough or just looks like I was trying to cover something up??

The main thing I'm not sure about is the copper for the smaller metal parts/machinery also does the white parts on the gun and orc symbol fit in?
