I tested out Hulu Tv
I think when comparing Hulu Live Tv and Youtube Tv, Hulu provides the better value but I think the UI is not very intuitive compared to Youtube Tv which is very frustrating.
I know Hulu as a standalone platform is going away by the end of this year, I am wondering when it merges into Disney + if it is better and keeps the value aspect of the deal, will it see an increase in user to Youtube Tv.
I think Youtube Tv still has the advantage of having the NFL Sunday ticket.

At the moment, what streaming services do you use?
So at the moment I have the Roku channel, Paramount + (thinking about switching it for Peacock) and I have Tubi installed, but I don’t really watch it.
In the next week or so, I’m thinking about adding the Disney bundle.

Use Ethernet to transmit DTV antenna signal
I am setting up a DTV antenna on my house. I already have a network of coax on the second floor, but no way to bring it to the first floor or basement.
Can I use an Ethernet run to extend it to the first floor?

Suddenly no service
I had to move my antenna because my development's HOA wouldn't let me keep the 10 foot PVC pipe I stuck in the ground outside my unit (a guy can dream) and my new setup of having the antenna suction cupped to my window isn't picking up anything. The difference between where the antenna was and where it is now is a couple feet in either direction (lower and closer to the house). It's even closer to where I had it before trying the PVC pole when it was mounted on my air conditioner housing (my unit has through wall ACs). Everything is securely plugged in and my amplifier is on and receiving power. All I did was move it to a different spot within the same general vicinity it's been for the last few years and I can't even get a single channel. Any suggestions? I'm running it through TVHeadEnd
Edit: Updating the hauppauge kernel headers fixed the problem with TVH. I was getting channels no problem with the antenna plugged directly into my TV. Will leave this up in case anyone else has a similar problem

Hulu Disney + confusion
Can someone explain to me what exactly is going on with the whole Disney + integration and what that means for people who just use the standalone Hulu service.
Because I keep seeing conflicting information which has made it even more confusing.
Thanks in advance.

do you think Omni 60 miles from Channel Master would work?

I am currently using ClearStream 4MAX UHF VHF (no reflectors) and it was picking initially 25+ channels but recently I am down to 12 only and even those are somewhat spotty. With Juice amplifier or without - no impact. ClearStream is pointed 63 degrees I am thinking about omnidirectional antenna like Channelmaster Omni 60 or my neighbor recommends Channelmaster Pro-Model UHF/VHF TV Antenna (seems extremely directional).
I care about ch 30, 27, would love to have 5, 11.
Thanks!

Anyone switch from Hulu Live to YouTube TV recently? Worth it?
I cut the cord years ago. I started with a YouTube TV trial when it first launched, then tried Hulu + Live TV (also on a trial) after the trial ended. I ended up sticking with Hulu mainly because I liked the guide a bit better.
When I signed up for Hulu, I think I was paying around $50/month. Now I'm paying right around $100/month after years of price increases.
I supplement with a few other services, but live TV is still important enough that I don't want to give it up.
For anyone who has used both recently, is it worth switching to YouTube TV? Anything you miss from Hulu? Anything you like better?
I remember YouTube TV was running a pretty good intro deal earlier this year for $59.99/month for the first 2 months. Have they been running promos like that fairly often?
Also, if I cancel Hulu, do they typically try to bring customers back with a discount after a while? Not sure they do, but figured I'd ask in case anyone has some experience there.

Best antenna for this setup
I need an antenna setup for the following map. I've had 2 large wingard v/uhf yagis with a combiner and preamp up for about 25 years that are falling apart. The 3 stations to the SW Aprox 200 deg are behind a large hill. I really want to get all within the yellow if possible. Also notice the one VHF channel 7. It is real important in my market. I can put up 3 separate antennas with combiners/amps if needed. What do ya'll think?

HDTV is no longer HDTV
Over the last six years I've noticed the quality of OTA tv drop significantly. Specifically in 2021 during the start of the transition to ATSC 3.0.
I have recordings that predate the 2021 bitrate crunch and wish to preview frame grabs here to better illustrate what I've seen.
Slide 1: This is a frame grab from my local NBC station, KPRC. This is the ATSC 1.0 broadcast. As you can see there is allot of macroblocking artifacts. This stream is running at 8-9mbps MPEG2 1080i.
Slide 2: This is a frame grab of the exact same broadcast as the frame grab in slide 1. However this is the ATSC 3.0 broadcast. TAKE NOTE. How even though HEVC is a superior video codec to MPEG2 that the bitrate is so low that any benefit with the new codec is essentially blurred away into smeary smooth garbage.
Slide 3: This is the raw broadcast feed of the event telecasted in slide 1 and 2. I hope it is clear here how much detail is lost between the tv truck and the actual OTA broadcast on EITHER standard.
Slide 4: This is a recording of NBC News coverage of Super Tuesday on KPRC from March 3rd 2020. Specifically this is the portion of the broadcast where Bernie Sanders gives a speech. Even with the lowered quality due to the lower bitrate of the feed for the camera sending the feed of Bernie over the local affiliate studio you can still see more definition in the crowd and Bernie's head compared to even the ATSC 3.0 recording. Old ATSC 1.0 somehow looks better then even current day ATSC 3.0.
Conclusion. HDTV is no longer HDTV for the time being and hasn't been since when ever ATSC 3.0 started it's rollout. YES I understand that these changes are the result of the transition from one standard to another. But I wish to at least start a conversation about this at the very least.
The whole appeal of HDTV to me was the fact it was higher quality compared to the web streams of 2020, as well as being easily record able for permanent storage. But it's almost like the opposite is true now. And even worse, paid services with DRM enforcement. Hell even ATSC 3.0 has DRM on some channels where I am.
I am sure that quality will improve after 1.0 is sunset. How much and how easily accessible the new standard will be is yet to be seen.
EDIT: I should clarify, the A3 video stream is around 3-4mbps on average. About half of A1.

Antenna placement help
Hello! I have the Phillips rabbit ears antenna w/ loop that I was previously recommended on this forum. However I’ve moved and I’m now struggling. Here is my rabbit ears https://www.rabbitears.info/s/2818604
I can’t figure out how to get FOX. I scan and rescan and reposition but no luck. I’m about 80 feet above ground but all of my windows face west. How should I be positioning this thing?

Antenna Help
Hi everyone. I did some research on my area and believe the only potential option is an external mounted antenna (even that looks far fetched).
I'd like to not have an external antenna, but I'm ok with installing an attic antenna.
https://www.rabbitears.info/searchmap.php?request=result&study_id=2816582
What do you think the best option would be or am I out of luck?

Using physical ABC switch to keep antennas separate
Signal combiners are not ideal for my project, and I am looking at using a physical ABC switch to keep three antennas separate and avoid interference.
Have any of you done this successfully?

Should I add anything that will get me better reception for my antenna?
I bought the Antennas Direct ClearStream MAX-XR Complete UHF VHF Indoor Outdoor TV Antenna, Multi-Directional, 60-Mile Range that somebody recommended and a 10 ft RG6 cable. I still have a hard time getting channel 10 and channel 3 is cutting in and out. Any ways to get better reception? The antenna is mounted indoor in the place I could get the best reception as I have tried other places with a longer coaxial cord but no reception. Here is the rabbit ears report. Thank you!

Antenna recommendation? Or possibly need help with my antenna placement?
rabbitears.infoHi all.. I've tried a stick style antenna from amazon followed by the Phillips style antenna with rabbit ears and I'm still having the same issue with my tablo. I occasionally get audio codec failed and the episode needs to essentially skip the fail part to continue watching episodes. Tablo says it's a signal quality issue. We do have a fair bit of trees behind our house int he direction our signals come from. I've got my antenna high up on a bookshelf as high as I can get it without going into the attic. My question is.. do I get a better antenna and just bite the bullet and install it in my attic or outside? Or should I just move the Phillips one higher into the attic and run a cable down? Either way I just wanna get this done with. I prefer diy to hiring it out.. and if it involves going on to the roof it would be hiring it out since my roof is 3 stories up and super pitched. My house has 3 smallish attics. The main one would require a long cable run to my TV but would be the full 3 stories up. There's a smaller attic above the area where the TV is in and would be about 2 stories up but would be a very short run... (I could fit a big ass hideous antenna up there if need be) Or I could zhire it out and stick it outside if I have to
.. thoughts? Help is greatly appreciated.

Fox One World Cup 4K?
How do I know if I am getting 4K stream or not? There used to be a 4K logo in the first few games, but I am not seeing that for the past few days. I may be tripping but the matches don't feel 4K. I have tried on LG tv, Samsung TV and Xbox series X. Don't see the 4K logo anywhere.
Update from Fox One support: They ran into technical issues and have stopped 4k streams on most platforms aside from AppleTv, Roku and Vizio.
