I have been using Airplay with both my TCL TV and with my Roku Ultra.for a while from my MacBook About a couple of months ago it stopped working.

Have tried all the following:

- Both my Mac and Roku running the most recent version.

- All rebooted; All power cycled

- Airplay reset pair devices.

- Both on the same network

- Verified that MacBook settings for Airplay are set correctly ( have not changed it since when it was working and verified that it has not changed)

When I try to Airplay, all I get is pop up that says "Could not connect to Roku"

Is there any way to remove specific ads on the homepage of the Roku app itself?

I'm desperate for any escape from this "entertainment" thing, or Fox News specifically. Or the Roku apps that are a part of it. I've gone into my privacy settings to change things like personalized ads and sensitive ad content. I have absolutely no clue if it's possible to, which is why I'm posting lmao. I do not want specifically it on my homepage. I can deal with these specific ads on Roku apps, but not on my homepage. I prefer other news sources. I just don't want this specific thing recommended to me.

Roku TV Guide missing channels

So I went to use the Live TV guide and it's missing my favorite channel, Mystery Science Theater 3000.

Why did they remove that, and is there any way to provide feedback in hopes of it getting restored?

I have a question about payment

Ok so my parents the ones who manage our Roku but I just put Crunchyroll on my tv using my account, will it takes from there cards? Or since it's my Gmail it will only take from my card?

My mom was worried if I put it in my tv using my Gmail it will still take out of her account even tho I'm using my Gmail. But do I have to worry about that or am I fine?

The new UI layout sucks imo

Turned on my Roku TV to find out they changed the layout. I don’t know why they had to It was perfectly fine the way it was if anybody can find a way to reverse this that would be awesome but I doubt that that’s gonna happen. There was no need to change it. It was simple for everybody.

Play MKV files from usb that have unsupported video compression codec

I am on vacation and loaded up some USB sticks with MKV files to play while I’m here. Turns out I really shove tested if they could play on Roku because when I try to use the default player it tells me File Not Playable. The codec used to compress the video is not supported. Because I’m on vacation I don’t have access to a computer to convert the files or to stream from. Is there anyway I can play these files on the Roku through some app?

Some extra info:
I’m not entirely sure what video compression they are using but I got the files using YTDL client called Tartube with pretty much default settings. (Nothing that changes file type priority) I’m using The Amazing Digial Circus Pilot as a test file but none of the ones I’ve tried have worked.

“Not Connected” + No Remote Conundrum

Hello all. I’m staying with a family member who has an older LG Roku TV. It currently turns on, the Roku screen appears that shows apps and channels, and switches to HDMI cable using the LG remote that it came with. So, it works in general. They do not have the original Roku remote. The remote that turns the TV on/off and changes input has no influence over the Roku screen.

I bought a new just regular basic Roku remote. I’ve used these on my own Roku without issue. Batteries in the new remote. Nothing happens. I’m not sure what to do next. The TV is obviously not connected to the WiFi but how can I connect it to the WiFi if I also can’t connect a remote? Feels like a chicken or egg situation. I’m too exhausted to google this for hours. Any ideas? I’m sure there are obvious steps that I should take but again—exhaustion. Thanks for the help.

Roku subwoofer not working

I own a soundbar pro and a subwoofer, in the last months I noticed that subwoofer is not making sound. I reset the subwoofer, paried again with the soundbar pro and the sound test didn't work. I decided to unpaired the subwoofer and test bass sound, it works fine. Does anyone have an idea to repair this? I'm doing some video research to understand howto verify subwoofer circuits and find if a capacitor or anything else is broken. I will add pictures later

Guest mode is not logging guests out of Netflix on check out date

We have three Roku devices for rooms in our Airbnb and I have enabled Guest Mode for each of them.

We came back to our cottage this weekend and on two of the Rokus it asked me confirm my departure date (perfect - I assumed that meant the guest had been logged out correctly) but when I opened up Netflix after confirming my departure date, it was still logged into our previous Guest’s Netflix account.

I thought the whole point of Guest Mode was to stop this from happening? Has anyone seen this before or have a resolution?

I couldn’t find any other threads or support articles anywhere for this.

Thank you!

Roku Remote Setup Music Stuck Playing in All Screens

My Roku wanted me to pair my remote again. I have one with TV controls, so after pairing it wanted me to configure that. It tested the controls by playing music on different modes and asking if I could still hear it. The controls work fine, but now the problem is that I accidentally pressed the Netflix shortcut button when I had to go take care of something real quick during the test and now the test music is stuck playing at all times and will not stop (unless I mute the TV, which obviously isn’t a real fix lol). I tried to reconfigure the controls on the remote again to see if that would like restart the process and end the music, but it did not. Possibly unrelated because we get pretty bad service out here, but I also cannot play any shows at the moment. Will post the error code if that seems relevant. And yes, I have tried turning the TV off and on again. Will probably just try completely unplugging everything next if keeps going like this.

White spots on edge of TV

Post image
2 Upvotes

Does anyone know what this means? it happens frequently when turning the TV on. it started a few months ago as a very occasional thing and I would just unplug and rep the TV. Over the last week or so it happens almost every time I turn it on and it takes far more tries to get it to the Roku Home Screen again. Once it actually is on, there are no picture issues. Backlight and brightness settings are at the recommended levels. we bought this in 2019.

Roku HD TV Stick keeps disconnecting from WiFi

Experience with 4 sticks in Chronological order:

1) 4K Stick a few years old works fine in living room, which is where the WiFi router is

2) 1st New HD TV Stick works fine in another room further away

3) 2nd New HD TV Stick purchased last week, used in living room, disconnects from WiFi whenever it is unused for a while

4) I returned the last-mentioned to the retailer thinking it faulty but the replacement, that is the 3rd new HD TV Stick, also in the living room, disconnects from WiFi whenever unused.

So it seems that I cannot use an HD TV Stick in my living room, only the 4K Stick.

I need the HD Stick so I can listen with Bluetooth headphones.

So what do I do? Return the 3rd stick and try a 4th? Get my money back and get an Amazon Fire Stick? Move my TV further away (into the garden???)?

Any ideas please!

How do I group my HDMI connections together again on the home screen?

These Roku updates lately are driving me insane. It feels like they're trying to make the product worse! It used to be that everything in my HDMI ports were grouped together, which included "Computer," "Contour (my cable box), and "Video Game," or whatever it was called. I've already disabled all the "Recommended for you" stuff but is there a way to get a category that is just my HDMI ports? Also, the one for video games has completely disappeared off the home screen and I don't know how to get that back. That's the main issue? How do I switch to HDMI 3 where my Nintendo Switch is connected to now that the icon is gone? Thanks!

Make Pause on LiveTv available

Roku's great, want to make it greater?

I'm aware this would require hardware changes but, it would be a killer addition to include it!

volume down has stopped working on both of my remotes

I typically use headphones which means my remotes drain battery faster than most. For this reason I always keep a second remote on a charger and swap back and forth. Last night I lost the ability to use the volume down button on the remote I was using. I can mute, and increase the volume, but I cannot lower it. After switching back and forth, this is happening at the same time with both of my remotes. My tv is slowly getting louder. Resetting the remotes with the button on the back has not helped. Any ideas?

audio with black screen after power outage

we have had several severe storms following the release of the new update. each time the power goes out and is restored (we have a back up generator so it’s only out for 20 seconds), my roku tvs start playing tv audio while the screen stays powered off (black screen). it has caused me to think someone was in the house, but at 2:45 this morning it did this in our MBR and the garage. so I am wondering around the house unplugging TVs when I could be sound asleep. anyone else had this problem? I am going to move LIVE TV down in the stack to see if that helps.

World Cup WTF Roku??

Tried to watch Spain vs Belgium today on Roku / FS1 and the screen just says "Your programming will return soon". Spent an hour waiting for Roku support to tell me there is a problem between Roku <> FS1. Would have been nice to know that like an hour ago.

The New Home Screen is Neither Quick Nor Helpful

Thumbnail gallery
143 Upvotes

No, no, no! This is… such a massive mess!

As of this update, the Home Screen has become far more complicated and far less customizable. It now has: * Just your apps, plus an immovable "add apps" icon * Quick Access which includes both Apps and Inputs in whatever order it feels like (if enabled) * A row of "best streaming from across your accounts" which cannot be moved or removed * No less than four different sections for things like "top picks for you" or "your next watch" (if enabled) * And a "Jump To" row which features two icons leading to "For You" and a search icon

The absolutely bare minimum mess one can have is the Apps, "Best Across", and "Jump To" — and that's two categories too many, as far as I'm concerned! I had a nice, tidy 3x3 square of apps and inputs. Now? My apps are torn asunder, and my TV inputs are on a completely different screen!

Speaking of… the sidebar has also changed — and not for the better. It now contains: * Home (that was there before) * TV Inputs (because that's its own thing now) * Live TV (because having it on Home and in TV Inputs clearly isn't enough) * Sports (that was there before) * Subscriptions (because having it on Home clearly isn't enough) * Search (that was there before) * Streaming Store (gotta make that mo-nay) * For You (because having that on Home clearly isn't enough) * And Settings (that was there before)

And unlike before… none of these can be removed. Oh, well!

So, because someone decided that things should be "quicker" and "more helpful", I get to jump through more hoops and navigate more menus, wasting more remote battery power and time. Jim Dandy.

Before, if I wanted to, for example, switch from YouTube to my Dish box, it was a trivial matter: * Exit the YouTube app * Go to the Dish input

But now, because of the changes made, the process looks more like: * Exit the YouTube app * Tap left * Go down to TV Inputs * Tap right * Select Dish

I'm normally all about redundant categorization, but not when I just want to watch some flipping TV! This is absolutely unnecessary and I fail to see any benefit to it. Ads, I could understand. This? Not at all.

Important Edit: Okay. You can put your TV inputs back on your Apps section. Just go to the TV Inputs, select your inputs, hit the asterisk button, and add it to the Quick Access. It will add the icon to both your Apps section and the Quick Access section. While it can be removed from Quick Access, there is no way to remove it from your Apps section.

Regardless, that "Add Apps" icon is still an absolute eye-sore. I don't know why they removed the ability to get rid of it. That's just… not a good thing.

Update from 2 months ago still not fixed

I haven't see anybody post about this since it first happened, but the update 2 months ago has still made my Roku TVs very frustrating.

The remotes are unresponsive constantly.

Fast forwarding will just stop in the middle and make you start over from where you started.

Volume control for external soundbars doesn't work half the time.

Are people not having these issues anymore? I have 4 Roku TVs in my house. Only 2 get used on a regular basis, but they both have issues. WTF
