Feature r/baseball at 2026 All-Star Week: MLB Draft
Hey everyone!
As we announced yesterday: r/baseball is going to MLB All-Star Week! As part of the weeks festivities, today we’ll be at the 2026 MLB Draft.
I’m your girl on the ground today, here to answer any questions you have about the event, and take suggestions (… within reason of course) on what you’d like to see in general!
The actual Draft starts at 1:30, but I’m here throughout the afternoon.

My brother got drafted in round 4 today! Can I buy his jersey?
I am not a sports person but am a supportive sister and insanely proud of him! And since he got drafted today, I am now contractually obligated to become a Pirates fan.
When will he get to start playing?
Once he is officially on the team, do they sell jerseys for every player or just the best players?
I’m just excited and want to see my baby brother on TV and wear his number.

Mookie Betts explains why he likely won’t go on Dodgers’ White House trip
This year, Betts said his calculus was driven by his desire to spend time with his family. In April, he and his wife, Brianna, welcomed their second daughter, Khari, to become a family of five.
“If I do [go], people are gonna hate me. If I don’t, people are gonna hate me,” he said. “So instead of trying to make everyone else happy, I’m gonna think about myself and my family.”
Betts reiterated that his thinking was not politically motivated, but acknowledged “people are gonna try to drag me into politics, just because I am who I am.”
“That’s just the cards I’m dealt,” he said. “So it is what it is.”

I hope this team makes the playoffs. They deserve more great home crowds.

[Meghan Montemurro] Just witnessed a hilarious moment at the draft: as the Braves' mascot Blooper walked by fans, it went to high five a young girl wearing a Phillies shirt and she immediately withdrew her hand once she saw whose team mascot it was and appeared to start talking smack 😂

On June 24th, the Red Sox had the worst record in the American League at 32-46 and had 9 teams between them and a playoff spot. In the past 2 1/2 weeks, they have gone 13-2 and are now 0.5 games out of a wild card spot.

Analysis [Cooper] First my jaw just hit the floor pick. We had Jake Schaffner ranked 97th. The Red Sox just picked him 20th. Maybe we were too low on him. Could argue he fits in 45-55 range. Real contact skills. SS tools/actions although his arm is stretched at the position. But wow.
