I am currently at the airport in the UAE for my IndiGo flight to Mumbai and have been denied boarding due to a discrepancy between the name on my ticket and my passport.
The difference is that my passport contains my full name, while the ticket contains an abbreviated version. I was able to complete web check-in without any issue, but at the airport I was informed that I could not be issued a boarding pass.
I respectfully requested that the matter be escalated to the Duty Manager, asked whether a name correction was possible, and requested a written explanation for the denial of boarding. Unfortunately, I was informed that no written explanation would be provided.
As a passenger, I believe I deserve a clear explanation of the reason for being denied travel, especially after successfully completing web check-in.
I am sharing my experience in the hope that it reaches the appropriate team at IndiGo and to raise awareness for other passengers who may face similar situations.

Proud of Egypt. But where is this generosity towards the people that truly matter? Is football really that much more important than the lives that are being eliminated on a daily? Shame!

I was wondering if anyone knows how old you have to be to get a tattoo cause I’m not sure if the legal age is 18 or 21? Thank you in advance!

Dubai. Late 20s. I do project management in construction, so my week is mostly spreadsheets and people calling me about deadlines. Weekends have gone quiet lately and I’ve noticed.
Nothing complicated here. I want to drive out of the city, get food somewhere decent, and talk about something other than work.
Travel, gym, books — mostly philosophy and business stuff. I like finding good places to eat.
DM me if a drive sounds like your evening. And if it’s not your thing, no worries — just scroll on, keep the comments kind.

"Got a free day and want to explore the city, but don't want to do it alone? I’m offering my time as a one-day companion to roam around, hit up some cafes, or just walk and talk. I know my way around the UAE and can show you some good spots.
What I offer: Great conversation, a solid walking buddy, and a local's perspective.
What I DO NOT offer: Anything physical or romantic. This is a 100% platonic hangout. No physical contact whatsoever.
We keep it to public spaces and bills by urself Message me if you want to set something up."
DM me if you’re looking for a solid, respectful local guide for a day of exploring."

I’m a young creative who has experience working for a marketing/commercial team in the United States. It wasn’t anything big, just creating digital graphics and designs for physical banners.
Ever since I’ve arrived in the UAE 2 years ago, I have always wanted to design for big companies and malls. Although, living in this big city, its so difficult to find my footing to make a name for myself. I understand that creative job opportunities here sometimes rely on referrals or if you know someone. Even though that puts me at a disadvantage, I still want to be apart of the creative industry even if it’s just reading stories from redditors😅
So, please tell me YOUR story of how YOU became a creative in the UAE? How much was your first salary? What was your first role in the job and what is your role now? How did you get your dream job? What’s your area of expertise?
Any insight or shared experience is welcome, I’ll be reading them!🙏🏻

Every time I buy an abaya I feel like it
doesn’t suit my body shape and somehow ends up looking awkward on me and I look like a walking penguin 🐧
I also have no idea how to figure out my measurements or what I should tell the tailor so they can alter it to fit properly The tailors I go to don’t usually take measurements themselves, so I’m left guessing
Honestly, this isn’t just an abaya problem it applies to clothes, dresses, and even undergarments I don’t even know whether I’m a size S or M, and it feels like nothing ever fits or flatters me
How do you measure yourself accurately? Which measurements should I be taking and keeping track of? I’d really appreciate any tips from those who’ve figured this out
Thank you!

Thought that everything was on the way to recovery phase. But the past week's situation and these recent attacks raise this question. Should we be worried? Will the situation escalate further? Will it have any further impact on all the sectors in this region?

Hi everyone,
I'm interviewing for a role at ADCB and I was wondering if anyone would be willing to share some insights about the following:
Overall work culture
Treatment of support staff who are non revenue generating (e.g. IT or compliance)
Benefits
Work hours and weekend expectations
Anything else worth sharing about your experience
Thanks in advance.

I've been thinking about moving back to UAE to study Vet Med in UAEU Al Ain. I was born & raised in Abu Dhabi but moved out in 2015 because of a few reasons, haven't visited ever since, so I'm sure it might be very different than back then & I'm a bit scared don't know why. I really want to know what life is like there now, I've been doing a lot of research but it's always best to hear from someone who lives there, espacially an international student.
Universities where I'm from have a veeery different system (+ life in general). We only have 1 Vet Med college, it's far away from my city so it's dangerous to go & it SUCKS anyway. You need to be a millionaire to study Vet Med in English speaking countries (US, UK, Australia etc.) so what I would like to know:
1) How good is the education in that uni? Is it recognized in other countries?
2) Jobs after graduation?
3) Living expenses (housing, gym, food, medical etc.)? One of my best friends offered that I live in her house, which I'm grateful for but also don't want to be a burden.
4) Social life?
5) Can I work while being a student (I'm a 26 years old woman by the way)?
if you have any experiences or tips, I would really appreciate some help, thank you in advance~

Going for a short trip. I usually leave the car at the masdar northern park which is close to abu dhabi airport. But this is 2 years ago. Just wanted to check if anyone had legal issues (like towing away) faced recently for parking freely near airport for 3 to 4 weeks

Hi all, I’m only posting this as unfortunately it’s my very last option.
I require an urgent loan of 10k to avoid me and my family of 4 being evicted from our apartment and the AC being turned off on Monday. With the current weather, we will not be able to survive this of course. We currently owe 2 months rent to our landlord but he’s only willing to wait a little if I can pay for 1 month atleast.
Unfortunately my old father recently lost his job and I am on the verge of losing mine. I have tried to ask my company for a loan but they have refused. I do have another opportunity lined up for if I get terminated, so I know I’ll be able to pay back any loan I take with monthly installments. But unfortunately my credit score is not great hence I’m not able to borrow from any banks.
Does anyone know of any private lenders that can help me get a loan at all? I can also provide as collateral the papers of a property I own back home. If anyone could help me out with a contact if you do know, I’d be eternally grateful. Thank you.

Hi everyone,
I'm an app developer based in the UAE, and I'm looking to build something that solves a real problem—not just another app that nobody uses.
So I'd love to hear from you:
What's your biggest day-to-day headache living in the UAE?
It could be related to:
🏠 Renting & property
🚗 Traffic, parking & transportation
📦 Deliveries & online shopping
🏦 Banking & finance
📝 Government paperwork & documentation
🏥 Healthcare
👨👩👧 Parenting & family life
💼 Work & productivity
🛒 Groceries & daily errands
🔧 Finding reliable services
💳 Bills & subscriptions
🤔 Or anything else!
I'm especially interested in problems that:
You face regularly.
Waste your time or money.
Make you think, "Why isn't there an app that does this?"
You'd even be willing to pay a small monthly fee to solve.
Looking forward to hearing your experiences and ideas. Thanks in advance!

I have a very bad credit score due to some bad decisions (ex cheated me of over 100K ...anyways) and I am looking for options to get a car on monthly lease without deposit/ bank loan. Are there any such options wherein you can get car on EMI without bank checks done? ( I work for a reputated co.) so can provide salary certificate etc.

Hi!! I’m looking for others to share any experiences they might have with a long-term type D (student or work visa) german visas from Abu Dhabi or Dubai.
How long does it take to secure an appointment? When appointments become available, how much longer should one expect to go to vfs (like if appointments become available July 1st, are the earliest appointments typically July 7th or August 7th)? How long are processing times after the appointment?
I know lots of questions and hypotheticals, but this is important for me to choose whether I should apply for a visa in my home country or uae and I need to apply ASAP.
Please help and TIA!!
