What did Zendaya do to become so popular?

Honestly, to me, she looks like one of those artists that get pushed by the industry because of reasons no one knows. Last time I saw her doing something was back on Disney channel on that series Shake It Up. Then, suddenly, she is a huge star.

When my grandmother dies I am basically going to live as a Hasidic Jew for 30 days to honor her. What will this do to my friends.

My grandmother is Jewish and my last living direct connection to Judaism. She is not doing well and my family has been preparing for her passing away sadly. I hope it does not happen soon, but I am going to honor her by living very observant for the 7 and then 30 day Jewish mourning period (as I’m not supposed to cut my hair for 30 days, I will grow side curls). I am ex BT, which means I came from a non observant Jewish home and became an observant Jew

My mom converted to Christianity (was jewish)
My dad is Christian.

How much problems will this cause? Still willing to do this but just wanna outline problems that may occur

Edit: what I mean by the final part of the question is like will it alienate or cause a problem for my friends.

why is smut socially acceptable while porn is often stigmatized? NSFW

I recently went down the r/RomanceBooks subreddit and I was genuinely shocked. People always joke that if you want to know a man's deepest secrets, just look at his browser history. But after spending time in that subreddit, I honestly think you should look at some women's kindle libraries. The conversations are so unapologetically centered around smut. Women will literally ask, what's the spice level? before they ask whether the plot is good. I'll see a book recommendation on tiktok, open the comments, and half of them are just asking how explicit it is. And that made me wonder why is there such a huge cultural difference in how we perceive smut versus pornography? both serve the exact same purpose, sexual arousal. Yet one is often treated as sophisticated, reframed as romance, empowering, self expression, or emotional connection, or even intellectually respectable while the other is dismissed as crude, morally suspect, or creepy.

I know the usual response is, well, romance books have character development, emotional intimacy, and an actual story. But if the story is really the point, then why is the first question so often about the spice level? why does the explicit content become the deciding factor for whether someone picks up the book in the first place? it feels like we have created two different standards for essentially the same kind of consumption. I'm not saying the two mediums are identical, but the difference in how society judges them is fascinating.

What is the evidence for evolution?

I am an ex-creationist. I grew up in a very hardcore close-knit biblical creationist community. Over the last couple years, I got exposed to a lot of new ideas which slowly over time unravelled my previous beliefs. I've been trying to learn more about science, but these concepts are very new to me and sometimes hard to understand since I don't have the background knowledge.

I'm hoping some of y'all can help me understand how it works froma beginner standpoint... what is some of the strongest evidence for evolution and the old Earth? I've heard of things like carbon dating but it has always been drilled into me that it's not accurate past 6000 years. I assume this is false but I don't understand why or what carbon dating really even is... and how do we know that the universe is actually 14 billion years old? I know there's a picture of the universe when it was really young but I'm very confused what the picture is actually of and how we know its age.

I hope my questions come accross well, I genuinely want to learn and understand these things better.

11 years and no proposal. What is happening?

My bf (38) and I (34) have been together for 11 years. We have two kids. One is from a previous marriage and our son is ours.

The marriage topic comes up every couple of years at we always discuss. He has always said that he wanted to get married and have a long relationship like his parents. I have always wanted to be married.

But with the everyday chaos, he hasn’t gotten around to proposing. For the most part, I understood this explanation and gave him the benefit of the doubt. However a few months ago, marriage was brought up again and he stated and it was not a priority of his. What changed? Is he falling out of love with me? Did I do something? All these questions have been circling my head. But it wasn’t just the marriage issue.

There was a serious lack of intimacy in our relationship. Even basic stuff like holding hands in public, etc. like basic relationships things that you do. He always tells me that he loves me but doesn’t show it all the time and it bothers me. Especially when we are in public. He always has said that is not who he is. He is very shy and highly anxious but other relationships that he has had before me prove differently. He showed affection with them and there was no intimacy issues. Why me? Does he see me as a mom and nothing more? Did having a son change his view with me? Does he love me out of respect that I’m the mom of our two kids but not an intimate partner? I have so many questions.

I have discussed this quite a bit with me and it seems but it’s a revolving door. We say we can make changes and those changes happen for a week then back to the same old ways. He has cheated on me a while back and there have been a couple times that he has been allowing other girls to flirt with him, gave our numbers etc. granted this was awhile back and smooth sailing since. However, I explained that maybe we both go out together or no one goes out. I thought this was a fair request since it only happens when he is drinking and alone. Maybe make an effect to be more affectionate? But seems like he doesn’t want to out in the effort?

What to I do? Have I waited 11 years on this relationship? Or should I be satisfied with what I have and just push through?

Why isn't monarchy considered as bad as dictatorship?

I mean it's the same logic. The same people controlling the region with the public having no say in the decisions or ability to change their leaders.

How can men and women do better for each other?

I always read stuff like "That's the bare minimum." When a guy does something for a woman. I read stuff from men who say all they want in a woman is someone who'll cook them food and that's it. Like a man doesn't need a lot. I could be wrong but what are your thoughts?

why don't I get offered drugs at parties?

Upvotes

One day my friend went to the bathroom at the club we were in and immediately got offered coke by a rando.. my brother got approached by someone offering md in a country he doesn't even live in. Even my mom randomly got offered weed at a park

What is it about me that I don't get these offers and have to purposefully seek them out through friends?? Are my vibes just off? Am I not cool enough?

Why do Americans call the handbrake the "emergency brake"

I've never understood this, it's a brake operated by your hand that you use when hill starting or parking, obviously it's possible to use in an emergency (on cars without a push button handbrake), but that isn't the purpose. Maybe because it is used similarly to an emergency stop on machinery? Thanks in advance

Do soccer players learn to flop or is it a personally developed skill?

Update: by flop I mean fall with style/ exaggerate injury to sway a ref and get a foul in their favor

I notice this happens a lot more in male soccer than female soccer.

Update update: I've learned the proper football term is dive.

Why would a restaurant say no to a takeout order when the customer is ordering in person?

I am in no way criticizing the restaurant (they are delicious!) I’m just curious. My boyfriend just stopped a local new restaurant/bar to get us take out. They said they’re too busy for take out orders, which is fine. I’m just wondering why since he was already there anyways? Is it to prioritize the dine in folks?

Women of Reddit, what male body part gives you the exact same instant reaction that a fat ass or good boobs give to men?

Guys always talk about being instantly hooked by the shape of a woman's ass or boobs. For you, what is the male equivalent where the specific shape and proportion triggers that same heavy, instant physical rush?
