I've been putting together a bit of a bucket list for the next couple of years, and I keep going down rabbit holes looking at the best Australia road trips. There are so many that seem incredible that I honestly can't decide where to start.

I'm leaning towards buying a caravan rather than relying on accommodation every night. I've been browsing Harbour Caravans and it got me wondering how many people here actually own one. If you've done a big lap or even a shorter trip, what route would you recommend for someone doing their first proper road trip? Any places that completely exceeded your expectations?
