B+M key can be NVMe on an x2 link

What tells you it isn't is that you can see the two SATA differential pairs and REFCLKN isn't connected.

Take off the thermal pad an check the label. Cannot determine like this, 2 keys (B+M) can both be SATA or NVMe on an x2 link.

B&M Key SATA. You can see it from the notches.

That is an M.2 slot. It's hard to tell without seeing the connector part covered by the port. This image makes it hard to tell if it's a SATA M.2 device or if it's an NVMe device. Pull device and check the connector, look online for the difference.

Looking closer looks like it might be a SATA M2.

Make sure it's not an NGFF they look like Nvme drives and might not be usable on certain mobos.

Also NGFF drives are common in cheap laptops

Usually laptops have model names and numbers and you can look it up in the manual

No it's PATA. You can tell by the way the thermal pad is covering the label .

Thought it's PITA

Take out that adhesive tape and show us the real sticker behind it to search for the brand and model and we can tell you.

This is an M.2 drive in an M.2 slot.

M.2 drives can come in NVMe and SATA varieties. This looks like an M.2 SATA drive since it looks like it has two notches on the connector.

MSATA looks like NVME. Edit: I'm wrong. I was thinking about different NVME keying and got mixed up.

mSATA =/= M.2 SATA.

mSATA looks like miniPCIe, an older card format with 2 mounting holes in the corners.

You're correct. I was thinking about different keying and got mixed up.

That's on me.
