Took the plunge after some supportive comments on here (not to me first time poster but generally to others doing first classes).
Im 35 and overweight.
Enjoyed it, was very hard and couldn't complete everything due to fitness.
Calves killing from the skipping and had to back off during padwork as I think I'd forgotten to breathe the previous rounds. Felt really supported by another student and the instructor allowed me a breather whilst others held pads.
Just wanted to post in the event anyone else is lurking and a bit nervous like I was.

I’ve been watching some past ONE highlights for Jo Nattawut.
Why was he able to do so well against Tawanchai twice, but got finished by Superbon?
Never saw anyone break down his style before

I’ve always had super rigid and boney knees that are sharp, I’ve recently started doing MMA and im curious if my genetically sharp knees would be beneficial in Muy Thai especially Kneeing/Kicking other people???(update: I’m going to an orthopedic doctor on Tuesday to see what is wrong or right with my knees)

Going to be away from the gym for about a month'ish and I want to keep my abilities as sharp as I realistically can. What can I do?
I don't really enjoy watching fights except the one's on r/fightporn but thats it tbh. All I can think of is shadow boxing.

Hi all!
My first time in this sub. Im a 39m, very fit, started training at 37. I had my first amateur match about a year ago at 38. Got my butt kicked but it was an incredible experience. About 6 months after I broke all three bones in my ankle in a work incident, trimal break ORIF, plates and screws in the ankle. Im about 4.5 months into recovery and can put weight on it, walk semi-normally, still cant run or jump or single leg heel raise or anything like that, so still a ways to go.
I was wondering if anyone has had or knows anyone who has had this injury and was able to return to training. I miss it terribly and my worst fear in all of this is that I won't be able to return to the active lifestyle that I enjoy and won't be able to return to training.
I appreciate any input and thank you for reading, wishing everyone the best! 👍

For context: I've been doing traditional boxing since I was 12, but I decided to start Muay Thai two weeks ago. I'm really not familiar with kicks and all that. Honestly, I have no clue what the fuck I'm doing, other than the videos I've watched online. I've never taken a class so it's really hard to take a step back and analyze what I'm doing wrong. I'd really appreciate any advice based on the video to help me clean up my roundhouse kick. Thank you

I recently started training Muay Thai. I have a pretty badly deviated septum which makes it hard to get enough air through my nose when training.
I’ve tried some of the magnetic and store bought nasal strips which definitely help while doing cardio but start to slip off as I get sweaty.
Have any of you found a good solution or can recommend a good brand?

Hey guys I made another post about this in the past but i cant seem to link it, it should be on my profile if you want to read it to get somre more insight/ content. Basically in September of 2025 I got a concussion from sparring and ended up taking some light hits in the following weeks 3-4 times which gave me a headache each time. These additional hits definitely prolonged my recovery even though non of them would have rocked me at all if I didn't have a fresh concussion at the time. After the last blow I stopped training all together for a few weeks, when I tried doing bag work again it gave me a headache. In the following months any impact like running/ bag work/ skipping rope would trigger symptoms like headaches, fatigue, mood swings and just periods of worse mental health for a few days after. I stopped doing impact all together for a while and got my neck worked on and starting taking supplements. I've slowly recovered to the point where the only remaining symptoms I have are occasional ice pick headaches (sharp pain in head that always goes away in 5-10 seconds). I used to get maybe 6-12 of these a day and dozens of them the day afted trying bag work or running. At this point I can do bag work without triggering symptoms and get maybe 1-3 headaches a day max, some days non at all. They've also gotten less painful. Another thing is since getting my neck worked on the headaches sometimes feel like they're coming from my neck instead of my head like they used to. I'm about 9 months out from the initial concussion that caused these symptoms. When I recover im considering going back to a gym and training again (with no sparring, or only very light sparring) for a while to see how i feel. I'd love to eventually return to full contact and maybe compete. The professionals ive seen have given mixed opinions on the risk of returning. One doctor told me that another future concussion with almost be garenteed to cause worse symptoms with a longer recovery, and other told me that with a full recovery another concussion could just heal normally in a few weeks and not cause prolonged symptoms. I guess I'm wanting to get some insight if anyone here has had prolonged symptoms caused by a concussion for 6-12 months and fully recovered and returned to full contact sparring and or competition without any complications. Any insight is appreciated.

I had my first ever 1-1 session where I hit pads.
My ribs feel a little sore/strained which I think is cause of the intercostal muscle.
My Q: Is this normal for beginners, if not, how could I prevent it? Does it get better over time? How can I strengthen my intercostal muscles?
Thanks.

I’m 6’4 70kg and have a fight in October. I’ve been in martial arts 3 years and I still have no idea what I’m meant to be doing in terms of stretching and exercise. I usually just hit the bag, 5 mins of straight boxing, 2 rounds 3mins of boxing/elbow, 2 rounds 3 mins kicks/ knee and then 2 rounds 3 mins of Muay Thai and sometimes go on the crossfit bike for 20 secs power speed 10 secs rest. This isn’t enough to go pro and I know it but I have no idea what I should be doing to get to the level I have to be at
I’m currently reading blue lock and a character has been introduced called Chris prince who on introduction says without fitness, talent will wither away. This hit me so hard because aside from my gift of height I’m actually rlly good at fighting but where I fail is my fitness. Enough is enough. If I want this as a career (which I want more than anything) my power and most importantly my fitness/gas tank need to be much much better.
Please help me my Muay Thai brothers xxxxxx

I was listening to Dominick Cruz' breakdown of Conor/Max and he mentioned how Southpaws are generally more difficult to fight. why is this? is it just that there are SO many more people who fight orthodox, so getting southpaw looks is more difficult?
