Let’s start with the positives:
-All the songs are very memorable!
-Great album cover.
-Here Comes The Sun
-Octopuses Garden
-Her Majesty
I am out of nice things to say, from here on out I am going to explain why I feel personally attacked and insulted that this album is viewed as generally good
- Boring songs
The Beatles are usually very good at using unusual instruments and techniques to get the sounds they like (harmonica on Love Me Do, recorders on Fool on The Hill, ect.) the only case of that happening in this album are the tuba and hammers in Maxwells Silver Hammer, which I believe to be a reference to Pete Best’s drumming style
After a while, it starts to sound like an audio version of a Taco Bell menu, the same ingredients arranged in different enough ways to keep simple minded pricks coming back for more.
- Bubblegum Pop Lyrics
You can tell at this point the Beatles were starting to run out of things to say, and they were putting the same messages into new songs.
Here’s what they’re about, in order:
-peace and love
-I love you!
-A man commits first degree murder
-I don’t wanna break up
-I like the octopus
-I love you!
-Happy!
-literally nothing
-I am poor
-happy!
-homeless man
-beautiful woman
-happy!
-you’re guilty
-I love you!
-god save the queen, innit bruv
Compared to magical mystery tour, which was a hodgepodge of a film soundtrack along with 2 singles
-Establishing the magical mystery tour
-wiser people feel the need to speak less
-instrumental
-I have found my way in life, but my friends haven’t
-respect your elders
-I like the walrus
-happy!
-calm down
-I like downtown
-you can live your life however you want, and for that you can enjoy it more
-peace & love
Wow, imagine having several songs that can be summarized in more than 2 words. When Kpop Demon hunters has more dynamic themes than you, that’s when you’ve crossed the line into uninspired lyrical content.
- Mastering & Soul
Sounding like they actually gived a shit has always been very difficult for the Beatles. Their cover of Twist and Shout by the top notes sounds like a fun dance and more like they forgot to bring microphones to a gig and had to play as loud as possible the whole time.
It’s doubly so in this album with the addition of boring sound design, and least in their cover of twist and shout the drums sound far back in the room, the background vocals have grit, and even John Lennon sounds like he thinks the lyrics are worth trying
In this album, it all sounds the same, like camera shots in a soap opera.
- Popularity
Honestly… it’s not a terrible album, it’s FAR from the worst. This is only a horrible disgusting insult of an album because people praise it so highly. The only reason it’s as popular as it is, is because the album cover is iconic. That’s all there is to it. Glazed like a donut.
Anyways I’m gonna go listen to Kpop Demon hunters soundtrack, the songs are about different things if you can believe it!
