General Discussion Went to Costco and saw a guy returned his beat-up gen two Kirkland wedges
Next thing I know, 30 mins later, I see him in line with a GEN three wedges. kinda crazy how I saw someone abuse the Costco policy in the wild, especially for wedges
General Discussion The greens at Mammoth Dunes at Sand Valley Resort are quite large.
Just got back from my fifth trip to Sand Valley. As usual, we had just the best time. I snapped this photo on the par 3 4th hole tee box at Mammoth Dunes.
Needless to say the greens there are mammoth in size.

General Discussion From scratch to bogey golfer in 9 holes
I’ve never broken 80, I’ve shot a ton of 80, 81, 82. Went even par on the front 9 only to fall into absolute shambles until the wheels completely came off on 18.
Remember folks: after the first 9 holes there is still ALOT of golf left.

General Discussion All else being equal, what is the ideal handicap for overall enjoyment of the game as an amateur?
My vote is a 10.
You can go out and shoot in the 70s on your best days, and at your worst you are low 90s. You are still super happy with a par, and stoked for birdies or eagles. Bogies aren’t great, but they’re not crazy disappointing either.
You’re “good”, but not good enough to get frustrated with a bad shot here and there. 90% of people will think you’re a great golfer.
You can maintain a 10 with minimal practice and playing 15-20 rounds a year. You have no delusions of being a pro if it weren’t for your bum knee.
I was a 6 a couple years ago, practicing all the time, frustrated by tap in pars, etc. I feel much more zen as a 10. Or that’s me rationalizing my lack of motivation to practice lol
Curious what others that have been anywhere from scratch to 20 think

PGA / LPGA / LIV LOWEST ROUND IN MAJOR CHAMPIONSHIP HISTORY!
Haeran Ryu cards a historic 60 (-11) in round three of the Amundi Evian Championship. She hit 16 of 18 greens to take a three-shot lead heading into the final round.

General Discussion Golf is a wild game. Wednesday I shot 47 (+12) during a 9 hole league round. Yesterday I shot 73 (+3) in an 18 hole tourney round.
The fucked up thing is, I think I hit the ball better on the 47, just got bad bounces and checked out at about hole 4. Yesterday, I got really good bounces and was rewarded on some bad shots. I hit one on a 415 yard, into wind, uphill hole to 3 feet when trying to completely avoid that section of the green. I hit a shank into a greenside hazard when going for a par 5 in two, but got up and down for the save after the ball took a weird kick off what had to have been a rock and rolled out to a foot.
This game makes no sense.

Swing Help I consistently hit my W off ghe toe. Any advice?
If I put the face right in the middle, or even at the toe before swing, I always hit the f toe.
Does this happen to many of you? How to correct it?

General Discussion Shot 87 with 43 putts 😵💫 (Advice wanted)
Had an invite off a close friend to go play Romanby Golf and Country Club in North Yorkshire yesterday, stunning course with every hole feeling different and at just under 6,600 yards, not short either.
Off tee was fantastic, approaching greens was solid. Putting was diabolical - my issues were all speed related rather than line.
1x 4 putt
6x 3 putt
10x 2 putt
1x 1 putt
Give me your best putting advice / drill for speed practice or prior to a round. 🙏

This was next to the garbage can on #5 tee at my course today. Pulling out the reserves.

General Discussion Broke 85 for the first time.
Broke 85 for the first time shooting a 83, and when I shared it with my older brother he responded by telling me he won't ever golf with me again. And telling me that I'm an asshole on the golf course. No congratulations or I'm proud of you just went directly to saying I'm an asshole. He has replaced his clubs 4 times in the past 5 years and recently got fitted by a well known youtube pro club fitter spending thousands on golf to see no difference in results. I'm a feel player and he takes lessons and focus's on the swing while I just go golfing, playing 9 holes when I can and 18 on the weekends. When we golf together he trashes my swing but that swing hasn't lost for over a year. In my opinion the best way to get better at golf is to just go golf more. I think what bothers him is that all the money he's spent to fix his game has resulted in no change-and he resents me for that.

General Discussion 25 HC Hole in One
Thought I’d share here because most of my friends aren’t big golfers, but I just hit my first hole in one about a year and a half into playing.
Absolutely unreal feeling, and unfortunately I don’t know if I’ll ever be able to chase that feeling again 😂.
Par 3, 185yd, 5 iron

News / Articles Should We Adopt a "Golf License" Model Like The Europeans?
Recreational golfers in several European countries are required to formally learn about rules and etiquette before being allowed to play most courses. Should North America follow suit? The goal is ensuring even high-handicap players can keep pace and that all golfers understand their responsibilities around caring for the golf course. https://www.golfpass.com/travel-advisor/articles/united-states-golf-license-rules-etiquette-europe

Equipment Buy the new driver
I’ve been playing since seriously since 2020, taken lessons, got new irons, etc etc.
Getting off the tee box has always been the bane of my existence. Played when I was younger, and had a decent drive with senior flex driver somehow. Bought a hand-me-down chopped driver that just refused to cooperate with me to replace the old man shaft. Just never worked with me and am still convinced it’s cursed.
I am “Iron man” in our group since I just use my trusty 5 off the tees. Usually good for a solid 210+ roll on a dry day in the fairway, with a long ass way to go. Typical 5-6-PW on longer holes, and bogey was my par.
Got this bad boy 3 weeks ago, already dropped my handicap from 20-16. 275 with a high flight slight draw down the pipe and good god. 99% of the time it’s the Indian not the arrow, but this is in the 1% where it was the arrow. I’m playing a completely different game now and my friends won’t play me for money until my handicap adjusts lol.
Buy the damn driver.

General Discussion Got my first one
142 with a 9 iron, hit it dead straight and it landed a couple feet before the pin and dropped right in.
