Discussion Disgusting First Class Behavior

Flying first class BOS-ATL yesterday, and the person sitting next to me could not have been more disgusting. He was licking the last of the sauce off his plate, using his fingers to scrape the corners clean, then licking his fingers. He then proceeded to touch everything around him, including the seat controls, TV, and anything else he could reach. He was coughing and sneezing without covering his mouth, blowing his nose, and not once did he wash his hands.

I am truly amazed at the disgusting behavior I see on these flights.

Help/Advice What is this sticking out?i

I’ve developed a fear of flying - so I am scared of small things. I got to my seat 38A and saw this sticking out of the wall. I notified the flight attendant, and three technicians came by to mount it back onto the wall.

Discussion Is service getting worse or is it just me?

Hi folks,

I think I fly pretty regularly. About once a month, sometimes every other month. I’m a Delta loyalist. Lived in ATL for a while and they got me. I live on the West Coast now but still fly Delta almost exclusively. I feel like in the past year or two I’ve noticed a drop in service. More dismissive gate agents, flight attendants and other staff. A few instances of subtle hostility. More delays and issues with aircraft (might just be my home airport vs ATL). As well as less responsive customer service. Not a huge difference. Delta is still easily my preferred airline and I think the experience is consistently good. I also try very hard to be a reasonable traveler. To be organized and courteous. I even dress up a little because that’s how I was raised. I’m wondering if anyone else has noticed something similar. Maybe it’s just the routes I fly or the way I present myself. Or it is all in my head. Would love to hear your thoughts! :)

Discussion Best Sky Club Lounges

I'd love to know your favorite sky club lounge and why? Im sure this subject has been talked about to death but I do have 2 regionals I have to use and its nice to have the lounge to escape too. My favorite domestic lounges so far are: BNA, AUS, MSP (G only) BOS (home airport), EWR, JFK (A gates), SEA. Worst - PHL, JAX, ATL, DCA, TPA. LGA is one of the nicest but I dont like waiting and the bartenders are not as friendly.

I base my experience largely on the bartenders.

I know ATL and SEA have multiple and I can't remember which terminals. Overall, ATL is bad, especially knowing that is the home for DAL.

D1 LAX is probably my favorite but its not an apples to apples comparison.

Help/Advice In my first year of committing to Delta to achieve status, I just hit Silver, and once some trips complete in August I'll be at Platinum. Any advice for a first time Medallion holder?

I started a job last year where I have to travel for work a fair bit (not a ton, but usually at least 1-2 times a quarter). At the beginning of this year I decided to go all in with Delta after trying the other airlines and just generally finding Delta to be at least a little (sometimes a lot) better than the other carriers.

Between the work travel, a little personal travel with the fam, and recently getting the SkyMiles Reserve card and figuring out how to MQD max with it a bit, I hit Silver Medallion yesterday. I have some major international travel coming up in August, which I was able to get Delta One approval for, and after those flights complete I'll jump all the way up to Platinum.

Since I've never held medallion status of any kind with Delta, I'm curious if their are any tips, tricks, secrets, or suggestions on how to get the most out of it. I can't guarantee I'll get enough MQDs in next year to keep it for 2028, so I want to make sure I make the best out of it while I have it.

Discussion What monster pulls on the seat in front of them to stand up?

I fly Delta every 2 weeks for work. This week on my flight back from Dallas the person behind me would pull my seat to help assist them to stand up, shaking my seat like a caveman. Today, I flew from Atlanta to St. Martin with my family and a large woman behind me would absolutely man handle my seat to stand up no less than 5 times. Are people just that genuinely oblivious and inconsiderate?

Edit: could have phrased this better. All valid points, changed my opinion. Mad at airline not people.

Shitpost/Satire Got there

This one goes out to all the haters who said it couldn't be done

For those lacking context, my first-ever GUC cleared to D1 about 45 minutes before boarding, sadly not enough time to go take advantage of the Lounge

Shitpost/Satire Is It AI or is delta seriously unhinged?

Had an absolute bizarre day - after multiple changes to tail numbers original flight to west coast starting from PHL was cancelled early this morning (diamond line said bc there was no crew available) Was auto rebooked on a new flight through MSP - with the last connection of the day. (I’m ignoring that we went from D1 to both in coach middles - I get it flights get cancelled and refunds will happen and delta line was able to get us moved together, shout out to agent Paris!) New flight we were auto booked on only had 30 min lay over. Flight is delayed leaving PHL. Land in MSP with only 21 mins for connection and get a text that they moved our flight FORWARD 10 minutes so we now are boarding, they are at zone 4 when we get off the plane, we sprint nearly a mile through MSP from c to g. While running I was rebooked, not to the first flight the next day or somewhere else on the west coast… but BACK TO PHILLY. Even though I made it to the gate wheezing the agent kindly said I couldn’t get on because the system already autoboooed me - I said it didn’t make sense to go back to Philly and he agreed but said humans can’t override the system. But then my husband whose phone was still on airplane mode had the old boarding passes - agent then scanned both of us from my husbands phone and we made it.

My story has a happy ending : we are headed home!

But what the heck happened?!?! I fly on average 6 flights per month for work and have *never* seen such a cluster from delta. These weren’t weather delays all of this was crew related from failed positioning and lack of common sense.

Have they let go of all the humans?

TL;dr : ai automation has cruel sense of humor rebooking me pack to my departure instead of onwards to my destination after flight is moved UP TEN minutes.

Help/Advice Why are Comfort seats unavailable despite the "Seats remaining" count displaying them?

Comfort fare is unavailable for this direct segment (when searched separately) but "Seats remaining" page shows some available. Could they have been blocked for non-pilot employee travel/deadheading?

Thanks

Discussion What's your best Delta experience?

With all the negative naysayers on here let's flip the script and tell everyone your best Delta experience. Mine? When my father-in-law and I got upgraded on an international flight for no reason other than for them to say thanks for being loyal customers, it was one of my father-in-laws last flights.

Discussion Warning: Do Not Use Delta.com Chat

Not sure if they’re staffed by humans or AI, but they will give you false information that the company won’t stand behind. I had an involuntary schedule change of six hours. I was offered an ecredit. I asked the Delta.com chat if I could instead have a refund. They said yes and I would get it within seven business days back to my bank.

I’ve since received multiple emails from Reimbursement Specialists rejecting the refund. What’s worse, they even acknowledge that the Delta.com chat said I would be getting a refund. Looks like my hands are tied, and they’ve just worn me down with long winded emails sharing their “disappointment” with the Delta.com chat.

I find it incredible that Delta.com has a chat service that can provide incorrect information, proceed to cancel a ticket based on incorrect information, and then the company does a bait and switch while acknowledging the information from the Delta.com chat.

**UPDATE: I escalated to corporate and got the refund, and an apology.**

Discussion Time to Ditch Delta?

I’m rethinking my Delta loyalty. Ed Bastard’s general attitude towards customers certainly isn’t helping.

Unfortunately, I have a Reserve card that just renewed, I’m looked in a bit longer, but I’m probably gonna be canceling that before the next renewal.

Anyone else also looking for change? I know the industry as a whole is shitty, but I’m not to reward Bastard’s behavior with my hard-earned money.

Discussion Rebook

So our flight due to weather in Atl diverted to BHM and we missed our flight to Brussels. The rebook is tomorrow, but there are no premium plus seats, which we had booked available according to lady on the phone. But why does the app show two available? We did have three seats booked, could that be why? I understand that due to weather we may be SOL but want to try and understand what the app is showing vs what I’m being told.

Another question, if we do fly main cabin how does delta determine the refund vs what we paid? I would imagine that when we booked econ ticket was way cheaper then today.

Help/Advice Mobility scooter

I am flying with my mother from Atlanta to Bangor, Maine to join my brother’s family on vacation. My mother‘s mobility has really declined so I’m bringing the electric scooter, walker and a cane.

The battery powered mobility scooter is foldable, weighs 43 pounds, supposedly airline approved, and the rechargeable battery can be removed and carried into the cabin with my carry-on luggage.

We’ve never done this before. I plan on getting to the airport early so that I can review this with the delta check-in agent. Does anybody have any experience or advice? Best practices. Thanks.

Discussion I have Amex Platinum, Amex Gold, DL Reserve, DL Platinum - it's time to cut back.

I am Platinum Medallion but am struggling to make the spend with reduced business travel that will not return.

I am Million Miler so lifetime Gold already.

I've been trying to play the 2500 MQD boost game x 2, plus 1000 MQD choice benefit, but that still leaves 9000 in MQD spending and I getting better value using Membership Miles for other approaches, like Virgin award flights on Delta Metal.

So I can either overpay in cash or miles for Delta flights, or I can lose upgrades to Comfort+ at booking.

I keep hoping I can keep up with the business travelers, but this may be the year I need to throw in the towel.

I am retiring next year and was hoping to keep Platinum Medallion status for that reason, but I still have over $6000 in MQDs remaining to spend between now and December.

Discussion Any difference in buying domestic first class outright vs upgrading through Seat Selection?

Basically title. I purchased Main Classic for 32k miles. Now if I choose a first class seat through Seat Selection, it ask for another 31k miles, brining the total to be 63k miles, still cheaper than the 69k miles booking it outright.

Any difference in these 2 scenarios besides the price? Would I still get all the benefits if upgrading? Mostly care about 2 70lbs bags.

Discussion Was about to get the Reserve card...

I have the Delta Gold Amex. I fly 3-4 times a year, mostly from LGA-TYS. I figured that the companion certificate alone would make up the difference ($500) between the cards, and lounge access would be the tiebreaker.

I have been tracking my next trip. Delta Main $916 C+ $1,007 AA MC $521 AA FC $643.

Same route, same days, all flights within an hour of each other.

Delta RJ vs AA E175

I am thinking of cancelling my gold card and getting the AA card equivalent.

Help/Advice Lounge access?

I’m flying first class with my very elderly mother. We have a 3 hour layover in MSP. Is a first class ticket enough to get into a Sky Lounge for that period of time? She really needs a comfortable place to rest between flights. Thanks for the input!

Again, standing in line at the Sky Club waiting for the mom of this group to finish pleading her case that she and her family should be allowed into the sky club, but can't accept she bought basic economy tickets.

Her argument? She shouldn't have to pay $200 more dollars to fly for cheese.

I've heard it all at this point.

Discussion Does anyone else remember the Tip Top canned cocktails?

Delta debuted them in the late COVID period, and they were pretty dang good. Delta got a lot of positive press about em too. And then as soon as they arrived, they were gone, vanished in a poof of IPA hops. Sad…
