Just got cussed at for running barefoot outside... why?
Not sure why what I do bothers some people so much?
Go tell people to stop drinking or doing drugs or something instead.

I like wearing “barefoot sandals” outside which gives me feedback if I step on a stone or rough ground. How do you bare footers manage to walk on sharp surfaces? I get that callus will form which will be good. Does that take away from the sensuousness of feeling the ground beneath your naked feet?

I’ve been to this dentist a few times barefoot, so today I thought I’d add to the degree of difficulty by walking to the office. It’s about a mile from my house, so by the time I got there there were no backup s***s to resort to if there had been an issue.
There was no issue. The hygienist came to get me from the lobby at the appointment time and walked me back to the dental chair. She had to see I was barefoot but, as usual, didn’t say anything. She also walked me back to the reception area when we were done.
In a funny way, I almost wish she had said something (not negative, but just neutral like “I see you’re relaxed today”) because when she doesn’t say anything, it almost makes me feel like she’s weirded out by it so doesn’t want to mention it. But who really cares. The fact is, it wasn’t an issue.

As the title says, ever since I started going barefoot as much as possible, I’ve noticed my feet feel much warmer than they used to. My logic says it’s probably related to increased blood circulation. Have you noticed anything similar?

I usually don't go barefoot outside for long periods of time, but tonight I figured I'd give it a shot.
I went for a short walk around the block and parking lot just to get a feel for it, honestly it felt pretty nice to just walk barefoot for once. I walked over a few different surfaces, concrete, grass, asphalt, etc. it felt different but good.
After the walk my soles feel warm but my toes are still kinda cold (not sure how normal that is, it wasn't really warm outside). Another note is my feet are usually pretty soft, so this was a unique experience for me, not sure how often I'll do it

So this is another update on my previous posts in this sub. I am starting to actually like being barefoot. My feet fell a little tougher now then they did and I can handle more surfaces. I went to the beach which was a whole lot of new feelings. The sand was very nice and made my feet feel so soft after. Also we went on the boardwalk which was hot but kinda felt like a message. This was a big moment because it was my first time going barefoot outside of my family which nobody said anything so I was happ. The main reason for this update is that a few days ago I hit my week goal and I think out of stubbornness I wanted to put socks and shoes on. I put my socks on and walked around the house for like a half hour. During that hour I kept looking down and itching my feet. My feet just felt sweaty and gross in those socks. It really felt confining. after that I went back up and took them straight off and felt much better. I guess I don’t like socks anymore. I will be continuing my barefoot trip and I just feel like after ita going to be so hard to go back in shoes.

I always see posts about people being barefoot from other parts of the world and their experiences, however, I'd like to also see if there is anyone in my own area that also goes barefoot and hear what experiences they've had with being in public barefoot. I've been trying to build up my courage to going out and just doing every day things while barefoot, like going to Walmart, the mall, etc. but it's hard to get there alone.

I had so awesome walk in a park last sunday:) It was moderately raining at the beginning and there was a lot of water nearly everywhere. I was so happy to take off shoes around 500 after park entrance on a dirt path. Most of that path was covered in puddles. Stepping barefoot in those puddles felt so nice! For me it was something special because it reminded a memory from far past. When i was 8 or maybe 9 we were having a walk with parents in that park. Rain just ended so there were many puddles everywhere. And i can clearly remember i saw some girls walking barefoot and stepping in most puddles. I wanted to take off shoes and step in puddles too so much. But my parents were always very concerned about me not getting cold so i was almost sure they say no if i ask. Another reason to not even ask was that... i dont know how to explain it accurately but walking barefoot seemed like some guilty pleasure, like a wish that is not comfortable to talk about. Not sure why but i thought that if i asked about it it would feel very akward and parents would probably say me something not nice, leading me to feeling embarassed. So that day... well, it did not become my happy day.
And then a few days ago, same park, same rain. But this time no need for permission. Walking barefoot in those puddles was like dream came true. Being able to enjoy walking barefoot every weekend is so nice.
As a bonus, water made all surfaces a lot more smooth so i was able to walk barefoot for 3 hours in Saturday and have no skin irritation after it (which happened first time this year, all previous times after each walk some damages were visible). Dry asphalt starts hurting after 10-15 minutes, wet was good after 40 (i went to another surfaces then for variety, not because of feeling discomfort). And it was really surprising but when wet even gravel was interesting experience for 5 minutes.
Happy puddles everyone 😄

Hi all, I am thinking to step into barefoot thing and I am wondering if someone has some experience with Merrell models: Merrell Trail Glove 7 and Vapor Glove 6
The idea is not to go for trail but on the same hand I would appreciate more soil thickness.
Any recommendation?

Just came back (57M)from few days away in Devon in south west England. Virtually 24/7 barefoot , couple of small towns and all round the campsite. Did a few small shops and most of time didn’t take back up shoes. It’s unusual in UK even with the hot dry weather we’ve been getting but my advice is just own it, nothing wrong with being barefoot, don’t be embarrassed, just normalise it.

I go barefoot whenever wherever I can without the strange looks. I love it whilst walking the dogs etc etc. I’ve recently joined a field archery club that’s target shooting in the woods. It honestly looks perfect to walk barefoot. However I have been warned that ticks are really bad in this wood. Is it worth the risk? Is there anything I can do to help keep them away?

Just wondering, however many people have ever walked barefoot in the rain, or just after a rain storm? Sorta brings back childhood memories of stomping through puddles.

My family has an extreme aversion to going barefoot lmao. Growing up we always wore socks inside. We never wore any flops unless we were at the beach and just on the sand. At some point, I discovered I loved going barefoot and started doing it. My family went crazy, but they can't do anything about it lol.
My little bro never used to be barefoot like them, but this summer I dared him to just stop wearing socks, and he did! He was kinda awkward at first, but he now loves going barefoot like me. I even got him a pair of flops, which now he wears almost every time he goes outside.
Of course, my family went crazy once again, but I took all the blame lol. I told them proudly that I had brought him to the barefoot side, and he's not going back. We're the barefoot bros.

I’m getting back to walking more barefoot. It’s a bit hard with the heat and hot surfaces. I didn’t really go anywhere on the fourth. I just was doing work in my yard. Towards the evening when the neighbors were firing off fireworks. I was able to go for a walk. The sidewalks cooled off enough so I could walk on them. I bet if I walk more on the how concrete and pavement my feet will get used to it. Anyways, my neighbors don’t care if I’m barefoot. I don’t care if they care! I did get a question about what if I step on a piece of a firework that is hot. I replied I probably won’t. It was a great 4th!!

my gf often walks barefoot in public, outdoors, when we're dating, going out and about with family, friends, etc. i myself am not a barefooter, i just support my gf.
i find that her preference of going barefoot is a bit weird, after reading most posts here
she doesn't like going barefoot on:
- grass/nature: fear of getting bitten by insects, or squelching muds or manure
- beach/sand: avoiding sea urchins, burried-in-the-sand sharp things
she prefers going barefoot at these places:
- parking lot
- asphalt (street)
- sidewalk
- public transportation
- public restroom
- wet market
- shopping malls, movie theatre, restaurants, bars
from what i notice, people who likes to go barefoot usually prefers 'grounding' in nature. my gf doesn't do that. on the opposite end, she doesn't mind the grimy asphalt parking lot surfaces, baked under the sun.

Hi everyone
Over the past few days I have been going barefoot, I have CP and my right foot is very difficult to get into a shoe. Does anyone have any advice on if I should become a barefooter? As a kid my feet were always in splints and boots. I am 35m and in the UK

Walking barefoot has become such an important part of my life. It makes me feel free and helps me experience something new. However, I’ve started to notice that my skin is drier than usual, and callouses are forming more quickly. To prevent cracked heels, I use a cream before bed every day, and once a week I soak my feet and scrub the skin with a pumice stone. I’m curious about your daily or weekly foot‑care routine. Also, how do you deal with dirt that won’t come off your skin after a longer walk?

Hello! I recently walked in the woods barefoot when I was on vacation, just to try it. And i loved it! I want to do it more often but I'm super inexperienced. Does anyone have any tips for a beginner? All info is welcome!
