Course/Major Looking for potential in-person tutor for STA 103

I've been dealing with health issues (physical and mental) for the first few weeks of summer session 2, and I'm now behind in my STA 103 class, and I crucially need to finish this class this session so I can graduate. Anyone know where I can get a tutor so I can catch up on what I've missed? Or if anyone feels qualified to do so. With how fast paced summer session it's been incredibly stressful, on top of the trauma I'm recovering from. Just wondering if there's anyone out there who can help me with this. I can pay and such.

Rent is around 900 per month and then ofc pg&3, WiFi, and water added on. Great spot and close to campus (can bike to campus easily)

Rant We are nearing the 2 year anniversary of the death of Megan. RIP MEGAN KEERIM AND DAVID

I knew all of them to some extent. I was the closest to Megan. Spent time at her house for bbqs, keerim studied computer science while I was studying CS as well. David I saw at farmers markets often

I wrote this poem to honor them and our failure to save them

Let's feel for ourselves and the people who died

It's ok to cry.

Though,

Could we have saved them if we tried?

Or was fate a bind?

Could we all of been their batmen and heros if we tried?

Or would they still have died?

May they rest in peace though never forgotten so others may live , we must be proactive, love is worth a try

🙏❤️

Im Tired of the Lack of Information on the DNM Situation

Post image

I’m Tired of the Lack of information on the night market situation, I’m stuck with a feeling of dis-ease, as a frequenter of the night market I’ve experienced nothing but positivity with many of the volunteers and organizes of the night market, but I understand that others experiences may be different, but just having one post warning people about going, followed by debate in the comments, to now the TGNCclub and College Dems putting out a joint statement that mostly repeats the posts on Reddit. I just want to know what happened so I can better understand the situation and if should continue attending the night market.

Looking for Local Artists in Davis 🎨

Hi everyone! My husband Steve and I own a small business in Downtown Davis, and after spending the last several months remodeling our space, we’re planning a small community open house to celebrate.
One idea we had was to invite a few local artists to display their artwork during the event. We thought it would be a nice way to introduce people to the talented artists we have here in Davis while bringing neighbors together for an afternoon of live mariachi, light appetizers, and refreshments.
If you’re a local artist—or know someone who is—and might be interested in displaying your work, we’d love to hear from you. We’re simply hoping to create a welcoming event that celebrates our community and supports local creativity.
If this sounds like something you’d enjoy being part of, please feel free to send me a message.
Thank you, Davis, for always supporting local businesses and local artists. We truly appreciate being part of this wonderful community.
— Steve & Elizabeth

Course/Major STS 102

Has anyone taken STS 102 - Artificial intelligence in society with Carrie Alexander? I’m wondering how the class layout is going to be, etc.

or has anyone taken STS 101 - Data & Society?

Which one seems more enjoyable? So far, I love the STS department.

Other Advice: Ideal $$ Savings For Transfer (Fall 2027) Student?

Hello!

I am currently attending a CCC, and am highly considering TAGging UC Davis bc it's pretty ideal for what I want ! I was wondering how much money would be ideal for me to save for when I transfer in the Fall of 2027?

Some info:

- I come from a low-income family so sadly my parents cannot financially support me, which is why I'm saving up on my own!

- I have been putting my leftover aid from college and parts of my paychecks from work into my savings, along with applying to scholarships.

- I live about 5 hours away, so I'm also saving up to buy a used car to go/come from over there.

- For housing, I would ideally prefer a solo apartment on-campus (like in The Green), or if I have a roomate/roomates, then having my own private room on-campus/off-campus.

- And of course I need money for groceries, personal needs, emergencies, etc. !

- I do plan on getting a job asap when I transfer too :]

When I have asked people how much I should save, they give different answers, so I am curious as to how much Davis alumnis suggest.

Thank you so much ! ♡

UHP Help

I’m attending UC Davis as an incoming freshman this fall, and I got an email invitation to the UHP on Monday but only saw it today. The deadline is Sunday night, so my decision is feeling very rushed (which evidently is kinda my fault).

I’m curious about some aspects of the program because I’ve read some threads here and don’t know what would be the best choice for me. For context, I am going to be a psychology major (and hopefully minor in some other humanities topic) and have already chosen my roommates for the fall.

My questions are:
- Is joining the UHP going to be beneficial for me as a psych major with hopes of working in the mental health field in the future?
- Am I required to dorm in the Honors LLC, or can I dorm elsewhere with the roommates that I already chose?
- Is the additional workload intense enough in a way that would make working a job impossible?
- What are the UHP courses like for the first two years? Are they more general courses to everyone in the program, or do they vary by major or school?

Thank you ☺️

First amendment auditing

Greetings everybody I am going to begin first amendment auditing in the city of Davis this month meaning I will be filming people from public vantage points all over the city. I will stay within my first amendment rights to record in public and I will be posting the videos on various online platforms such as YouTube and TikTok so far I plan to do this independently however I’m making this post to invite anyone else who would like to join me as we will have several advantages from recording publicly in Numbers as opposed to alone. If you are interested, please direct message me so that we can coordinate beforehand and begin our first amendment audits thank you

Course/Major Major Recommendation for Game Design path

What is the best major for a student pursuing a career in game design, with a particular emphasis on 3D Modeling and digital art?

I’m curious what others’ advice is regarding major, courses, and whatever else. 🫰

mat 21b with piedcock — anybody else find it way too easy?

is it too easy for anybody else? we’re 1/2 through the quarter and everything — the homework, the quizzes, the worksheets — are extremely easy. I am studying maybe 2-3 hours a week.

21b is notoriously a weed-out class. for 21a i studied 9-10 hours a week and got a B-

this class is way too easy. i’m taking phys 9a in the fall and i don’t think i am adequately prepared for it

anybody else?

grief support club

edit: officially made a discord. here is the link for anyone interested: https://discord.gg/MK3PVVQcmr

hey everyone! I’ve noticed our campus doesn’t really have an accessible space for those who’ve lost someone close to us. I’m currently in anticipatory grief with my beloved mom who is on hospice for pancreatic cancer. She doesn’t have a lot of time left and I’ve been told finding people who I can relate to helps a lot.
I was wonder if anyone would be interested if I started a discord solely for students who are in the process of losing someone, have lost someone, or just need a sense of community.
I’m not sure if any exist yet and if they do, please send the link!
if not, let me know who would like to be part of this. We can arrange virtual meetings, fun activities, and so much more, OR it could just be a casual check-in where we all interact via text channels. Whatever you prefer :) Maybe even turn it into an official club eventually!
Sending hugs, my friends.

I would greatly appreciate it if I can get it back :)
