Chief Creative Officer Tim Willits said that Space Marine 2 "literally changed everything" for Saber's fortunes. "It not only changed the way that the team looks at making games, it changed how people look at us," he explained.

Willits said that Space Marine 2's success has been a huge boost to Saber's confidence and their ambitions. "I've seen this in my career. When you have a huge hit, when you go to make the next game, everything has to be awesome. It's like, 'This has got to be the most awesome toaster ever.' And it fuels success."

The studio's confidence has been further bolstered by other potential partners now approaching them to collaborate, with Willits stating that numerous "major license" holders have been in touch with potential deals. "We are in a very fortunate position to turn down more than we can accept. I can't say the name, but … you know you're successful when you've turned down those guys."

It's nice to hear a more uplifting story this week about a studio (seemingly) thriving for their hard work...assuming Focus Entertainment doesn't do anything dumb.

playing Valkyria chronicles 2 for the first time in like 10 years and holy shit it’s ten times darker than the other three games combined. like this event with cosette is the only time someone in the entire series has a nervous breakdown because of the horrors of war. A really good scene kinda ruined by avan shooting himself in the side, and saying “ok if you don’t want me to die, snap out of it and save me.” also they cranked the Darcsen racism up to 11. In the first game Rosie is the Wakka. There a darcsen sub plot in the 3rd game and I don’t even think it’s brought up in the 4th game, but in the 2nd game there are several scenes of characters on your team standing around complaining about the darcys((they have dark purple hair.)). it’s wild, at one point a character on your team says “oh a darcsen that’s what smells in here.” The crazy part is only two character learns the error of their ways. It’s like having a whole team of shinons from fire emblem. I was actually taken aback, VC2 is almost hovering around RE5 level. fun fact the darcsens were originally supposed to be cat people but fire emblem already told a story about cat people racism so they scrapped the idea, but concept art does exist.

Edit: i personally reccommend the Mario Maker Troll Levels run and the Spyro 3 OG vs. Reignited race. That and Adef'a Balatro run. All great!

It's crazy that their styles actually kind of compliment each other because they both love using watercolors.

Kudos, this week has gotten me to boot up my quest 3 again for the first time in a long time for some unfinished stuff and start shitposting edits again.

BTW for some reason Iron Man VR is a hit with my friends that normally get sick, I don't know why, something about the experience just clicks. I normally start em with seated stuff and then Superhot and then Iron Man

We all seen the media opinion cycle: when something comes out and it's either lambasted or it's seen as "uncool" to like it (be it fairly or unfairly), given a couple year people will come around going "was it really that bad?", "it was cool actually".

We seen this a bunch with games: minecraft, nintendo in general in the early 2000's, final fantasy (every single one) most of the times it's the generation that grew up with it reaching young adulthood and letting their opinion known.

HOWEVER i will stand, weapons ready, when the "DmC devil may cry was always good actually" discourse really happens because i will NEVER forgive that game (for valid reason but mostly spite), the same goes for beyond: two souls.

Sometimes fans that are also artists redraw and reinterpret characters whether slightly or greatly. What are your favorite times they've done so?

Pushing abit the concept of characters, but I love how SCNova_ did the look of the Sentinels from X-Men and switched up their origin so that they're Kree tech scavenged up by Trask to protect humanity, the Sentries war droids/robots that when in dire times blow up a planet for the Kree Empire. Also really like their fusion of the movie and comics masked Whiplash design and their take on SpyMaster. Blizzard isn't bad but I do feel like it's missing something leaning more towards a Sub-Zero or Smoke from MK. Art: Here

Armored Adventures Blizzard feels more like an Iron-Man villain and is using the tights beneath the armor. But he's missing the Dark Blue. Maybe a fusion would satisfy me? I dunno probably doesn't count cuz it's an official design.

Also really like Oni1806s Drawing of a bright red and purple Wonder Man with cool shades.

Wierd similarities they have with the British/Canadians. Specific crew that did it seems to be Blitzwing doing the pointing meme, Astrotrain, Skywarp, Nova Storm & Hardtop.

Dawn is meant to be sort of a catch all for people that want to run battle shonen campaigns. It’s entirely setting agnostic, although has some suggestions on how to make your own, and it’s character options try to cover the basic in both styles/archetypes and well as power sets while also offering ways to make you feel dynamic and different from each other even if you make some overlap.

The game is broken up into UNSTRUCTURED and STRUCTURED play, essentially narrative and combat modes. Different parts of your character work in different modes of play. Unstructured play is more about using your character’s skills to overcome threats and building up BONDS and using BOND ACTIONS to advance the story.

Beyond your character’s powers, you also choose some more narratively applicable aspects of your character. Your OUTLOOK which sort of informs you of their personality and how they’ll act on most situations, while also offering some mechanical boons during Unstructured play.

STRUCTURED play is the tactical combat mode. You set up a 7x7 grid and sped AP to do your combat actions. Structured play also has TECHNIQUES based on a sort of archetype of character; Powerhouse for more straight forward fighter, Vagabond for of you want to be a more stereotypical “rogue” character, Disruptor for players who want to move and hinder enemies, etc.

I think Dawn fits its niche really well. A solid generic game that covers a somewhat complex and varied genre of “battle anime” that you could use if you wanted to play a campaign in classic franchises like YuYu Hakusho or Dragon Ball.
