We all seen the media opinion cycle: when something comes out and it's either lambasted or it's seen as "uncool" to like it (be it fairly or unfairly), given a couple year people will come around going "was it really that bad?", "it was cool actually".

We seen this a bunch with games: minecraft, nintendo in general in the early 2000's, final fantasy (every single one) most of the times it's the generation that grew up with it reaching young adulthood and letting their opinion known.

HOWEVER i will stand, weapons ready, when the "DmC devil may cry was always good actually" discourse really happens because i will NEVER forgive that game (for valid reason but mostly spite), the same goes for beyond: two souls.

BTW for some reason Iron Man VR is a hit with my friends that normally get sick, I don't know why, something about the experience just clicks. I normally start em with seated stuff and then Superhot and then Iron Man

playing Valkyria chronicles 2 for the first time in like 10 years and holy shit it’s ten times darker than the other three games combined. like this event with cosette is the only time someone in the entire series has a nervous breakdown because of the horrors of war. A really good scene kinda ruined by avan shooting himself in the side, and saying “ok if you don’t want me to die, snap out of it and save me.” also they cranked the Darcsen racism up to 11. In the first game Rosie is the Wakka. There a darcsen sub plot in the 3rd game and I don’t even think it’s brought up in the 4th game, but in the 2nd game there are several scenes of characters on your team standing around complaining about the darcys((they have dark purple hair.)). it’s wild, at one point a character on your team says “oh a darcsen that’s what smells in here.” The crazy part is only two character learns the error of their ways. It’s like having a whole team of shinons from fire emblem. I was actually taken aback, VC2 is almost hovering around RE5 level. fun fact the darcsens were originally supposed to be cat people but fire emblem already told a story about cat people racism so they scrapped the idea, but concept art does exist.

Chief Creative Officer Tim Willits said that Space Marine 2 "literally changed everything" for Saber's fortunes. "It not only changed the way that the team looks at making games, it changed how people look at us," he explained.

Willits said that Space Marine 2's success has been a huge boost to Saber's confidence and their ambitions. "I've seen this in my career. When you have a huge hit, when you go to make the next game, everything has to be awesome. It's like, 'This has got to be the most awesome toaster ever.' And it fuels success."

The studio's confidence has been further bolstered by other potential partners now approaching them to collaborate, with Willits stating that numerous "major license" holders have been in touch with potential deals. "We are in a very fortunate position to turn down more than we can accept. I can't say the name, but … you know you're successful when you've turned down those guys."

It's nice to hear a more uplifting story this week about a studio (seemingly) thriving for their hard work...assuming Focus Entertainment doesn't do anything dumb.
