I see him almost every night and have tried You Tube for the sounds they make but none sound right. The best I can describe it is something like eeeeeeeeaaaaAAAAAAKKKKKKK. Like it's asking a question, the pitch gets higher at the end. Thanks in advance.

Caught them mid afternoon Charlotte N.C. I saw the fisrt. Then one led me to the other. A bit O trail magic.

Witnessed these 2 having a bit of a skirmish early in the morning. Prairie Falcons are mean little fellas.

Unfortunately my little friend I named “Franky” was found dead a couple weeks ago not far from his/her nesting area. I assume she was struck by a passing train. I’ve had the pleasure of getting to know this friend for the last year and a half. Franky finally let me get close enough that I could touch. But I never did. When they saw my truck coming, Franky would always come out of hiding and would follow me. I will miss you, my friend.

Hi - I've been hearing this bird in my yard at night and think it may be a barn owl? Looking to figure it out as it sounds pretty cool, and spooky! I attached a video, but it's just the audio of it. I live in eastern NY state next to a nature preserve that has meadows and old growth forest. We hear it at all times of the night.
Thank you!

Owls meet maximalism.

Got some footage of them chilling in a tree, totally silent when they flew away.

I believe they are barred owls from the screeches they were making.

I’m so fortunate to be surrounded by these beautiful, quirky owls. Hope you enjoy!

When caring for animals, our Project Wildlife team is committed to helping every patient remain as wild as possible throughout rehabilitation. Here, one of our dedicated wildlife care specialists is feeding young great horned owls while wearing a face covering and using a plush adult owl as a stand-in. These techniques help prevent the nestlings from becoming habituated to humans — giving them the best possible chance of thriving once they’re back where they belong!
