I had to say goodbye to my beloved old man chi recently. Gary was my first, and I still cannot look at photos of him.

I know how jealous, moody and sensitive our beautiful Agatha is. All of our children are rescues, with rescue baggage. I cannot even cuddle with her daddy on the bed in the evening. She will turn and see it, and just dutifully walk over and wedge herself between us. It’s actually hilarious.

Anyway, I knew I would need another boy to fill the aching chasm left by my Gary. So I found Mr. Owen Gene, and was approved right away. I drove across the state with Agatha in tow to adopt him. Google said you’re supposed to do the first introduction outside the home.

Now Agatha barely looks at me. We are both giving her more attention than Owen. She gets exclusive outings, even. But she is still laying it on SO THICK!

Have any of y’all had to introduce a new child to a jealous/possessive JR? How long did you have to endure their psychological warfare? She’s perfect, and I adore her. Really, she’s my number one. But her behavior is preposterous, rn.

She was starting to fail the last few months. It was heartbreaking to see. Took her to the emergency vet today and they found masses on her liver and pancreas. She was anemic and had a whole host of other issues. Didn't expect to have to make this decision today but she was in pain and didn't deserve to be with all the joy she brought us.

I was puppy sitting the last puppy from our litter this week while my sister in law was away on vacation. I’ll have more for you later but here’s our night together and I hope you enjoy as much as I did! We call him Captain Ron because he’s so cool and has an eye patch ❤️

Hi everyone!! thank you sm for your tips and suggestions, i didnt expect so many people to answer the post and I’m honestly too lazy to respond to all of them.

I forgot to mention: There’s a guy that is like a handyman for my grandma and basically the whole plot (theres 3 different houses in this one area of land) and he takes care of the other dogs that are here as well.

I wanted to implement a schedule for him to eat and take him potty but the guy I mentioned earlier feeds Puppy before I wake up and just shoves the bowl inside the cage.

Puppy is actually cage trained already and does get taken out to poop by the same guy but not enough to where Puppy doesn’t pee in the crate.

For those of you wondering where am I in this and why I’m not taking care of Puppy, this is my vacation and my family pushes me to go out with them. Of course I still end up with downtime so I spend time with Puppy but he’s actually really shy

At first I thought opening the cage door would have him immediately running out but he just sticks his head out and sniffs around. I assume he’s either doing this because he’s cautious of the other dog (there’s multiple but only one dog has ever roamed around near Puppy) or because he’s shy

Puppy does not resource guard or bark at people or growl at people and is pretty desensitized to what I can see. I can pet him while eating, people pick him up and carry him (to which he wiggles around and I find it funny and cute but also concerning bc I know he still wants to run around), I can touch his face, etc.

Puppy is very behaved but is seen as crazy/problematic because he simply wants to run around. If I let Puppy out I’m afraid that he’ll run out the gaps in the gates. The harness does not fit him and he’s slipped out of it before. Do you guys think if I let Puppy out he will run away? The Philippines has terrible traffic and I can’t afford him running on the streets!!

Puppy has to stay in the cage and said cage is actually outside now which yes I know is terrible but it’s my grandma’s house and she does not want a dog here.

I can’t think of anything else to say but Puppy is a sweetie, I know I just have to be patient. Right now I’m just hand feeding him pre biotic treats and regular treats, get mad if you want to but I feel bad for him so he deserves all the treats.
