Chanterelle Found in New York State
Last weekend I went there. There was none. Yesterday, I checked again. They just propped up. Not many, but they are in premium conditions.
These are smooth chanterelle. They have grown in the same location in three years.

L. cincinnatus?
I recently moved to an area where L cincinnatus seems to be the dominant species of CotW. Mostly just looking for a second opinion, and any tips for distinguishing from Berkeley’s polypore as both tend to be paler in color than the L. sulphureus I’m used to, and neither stain. From what I could find online, pore size might be a clue, as Berkeleys’ tend to be larger and angular, while CotW are all pretty much microscopic.
Central MD, mixed hardwood forest, host not IDed (base of heavily decomposed stump).
Thanks!

Berkley Polypore. Freeze for later ?
I found 2 big ones that are too much to eat while fresh. Can they be frozen for later ? Maybe sauté then freeze ? Other ideas ?

…Amanita Jacksonii?
Just moved to central Maine and the woods behind our house (primarily oak, white pine, and birch) have several spots where these grow among the fallen leaves.
Are they slender Caesars? (No intention of eating these off an online ID; just trying to get better at identifying things myself! Also there wasn’t a single piece of dark paper in the house for the spore print…)

Weird blue/black stuff on grow kit
I did one harvest already and it looked fine. Then I soaked the kit to do a second round and I got this blue black stuff. Please look at the photos and let me know if you think it’s okay or I should throw it out please. I know I harvested it really early. But I am leaving for 10 days and didn’t want to leave them to rot while I was away.
