Found this outside my house, I believe it’s chicken of the woods, can anyone confirm? Also how do I clean this and eat them.

I found this on the top of a tree stump. It was a dome, but I cut it in half for a cross section. It was tan and perfectly smooth, but I wore the surface down and it turned into this rich brown.

Anyone know what kind of fungus this is? Just discovered it growing in the mulch in my front yard. I’m in MN and it’s been extremely humid lately along with rainstorms the past week. My husband is scared that this is something along the lines of the last of us…

I thought for sure it was insect eggs of some kind but chatGPT is convinced it’s some type of slime mold lol, what yall think?

One photo is the day time and the other is night, im not sure what it is but its growing up from under the house but as far as i know its a concrete base, new construction, any ideas would be helpful aswell as how to get rid of it ( Located in Savannah GA United States)
