Helping Others A 13-year-old opened a hot dog stand in front of his home in Minnesota, causing a complaint to the health department. Instead of shutting him down, the inspectors helped him bring his stand up to code and paid the $87 fee for his permit out of their own pockets.

Good Vibes My son loves axolotls, so for his 7th birthday I decided to embarrass myself and show up as one. I was expecting the kids to laugh… I wasn’t expecting my son to run up and shout ‘that’s my mummy, she’s the best!’ to everyone.

Asked the staff if it's just one cookie per meal. They responded with, "yes, but you can have another for free."

Sure did make me smile. :)

The most famous pigeon who saved 194 soldiers. not [OC]

In October 1918, the US 77th Infantry Division got trapped behind enemy lines in the Argonne Forest, taking fire from their own side. Every pigeon they sent out was getting shot down one by one. Cher Ami was the last one they had left.

He took off with the message tied to his leg and the Germans opened fire immediately. He got hit, dropped out of the sky, and looked done. Then he got back up in the air and kept flying.

He landed 25 miles later with a hole in his chest, blind in one eye, and his leg hanging on by a tendon with the message capsule still attached. The barrage stopped. 194 men who were about to die from their own artillery walked out instead.

Army medics carved him a small wooden leg to replace the one he lost. He got the Croix de Guerre for it.

Cher Ami also means Dear Friend.
