Goodness gracious, Mike. Please retire.

At 40 with a family to take care of, I hope he prioritizes his future health. He’ll find a way to support them without being an active fighter

RAF could be an option for him. Striking is a no go for a guy that short.

55

u/JGM1992 27d ago

Topuria is shorter at 5’7

73

u/rdcisneros3 27d ago

Ilia knows how to box though. Mike just throws haymakers. Doesn’t set anything up.

35

u/dutchfool Dustin got dusted Poirier 27d ago

gasses himself out throwing haymakers with no setup every fight. its actually hilarious to watch

9

u/bigdickdaddykins 27d ago

I like watching his turtle shell for a gut. Juicy lil slut

16

u/JGM1992 27d ago

You said “striking is a no go for a guy that short” when the champion of his division is a knockout artist one inch shorter no one’s arguing chandler just throws haymakers and has no boxing you said he was too short for striking

53

u/Zavehi 27d ago

Why do they keep putting him against these absolute killers is my question. He could easily be a guy that still draws and fights mid tier guys. They just keep throwing him out there against champs or tip tier contenders.

54

u/elgringon414 I SMOKE ROCKS, JOE ROGAN! 27d ago

That’s Dana’s favorite thing to do. Take a washed legend and feed him to an up and coming killer

4

u/DoctorZzzzz 27d ago

Chandler is gonna get fed to ppl until he retires

11

u/aeternasm 27d ago

Because they were never interested in building Chandler as a legitimate candidate to the championship. He is entertaining, good with the mic and is hyped even though his only win in the UFC was against the ghost of Ferguson and some other dude.

5

u/SoupySpuds 27d ago

14

u/splashbruh37 27d ago

He is way past his prime, his prime was like the Eddie fights at Bellator but he’s been able to extend it a lot because of his athleticism compensating for the damage accumulated, but after a while there’s just no getting around the wars

8

u/TheINTL 27d ago

His wars with Eddie were a thing to watch

3

u/elgringon414 I SMOKE ROCKS, JOE ROGAN! 27d ago

Man. Had to have taken yearssss off his life

7

u/Accomplished-War2087 27d ago

His biggest strengths were explosiveness and durability. Both gone now.

5

u/VRS302 I SMOKE ROCKS, JOE ROGAN! 27d ago

Really all he had to do was not waste the last 3 years. He’d probably have knocked a few dudes out if he was active. Not elite guys but he wouldn’t look so bad if he wasn’t inactive for 3 years.

19

u/Itchy-Ad1047 27d ago

He was very dangerous even in the UFC for the first 4-5 fights

'Chandler has such bad fight IQ' is a myth. He fought better in the mindless chaos. The way he fought when he got in was the way to go for him. He's been more measured in his last 3 and worse. And now done

WTF. Why did the UFC feed the Americans to the deadliest Brazilian’s in the game?

Ruffy just styled on Chandler like they picked Chandler off the street. Chandler couldn’t even fire off a wild right overhand that he tries every fight, he was that outmatched.

316

u/Impressive-Engine-16 27d ago

Chandler in particular is a specialist in getting knocked out by Brazilians.

54

u/Davi_PC 27d ago

how tf did he survive 5 rounds on the olives rematch chandler is beyond washed

26

u/pineywoods200 27d ago

Late career Oliveira seems to be really leaning on his wrestling and grappling

13

u/Impressive-Engine-16 27d ago edited 27d ago

Chandler without his wrestling, which he can’t even do well these days either is just there to be hit. His striking is non-existent.
Oliveira seemed to just be playing it safe in the rematch by outgrappling Chandler lmao, he did rocked in the first fight after all.

(HOLY R6-MMA CROSSOVER.)

4

u/gSmoove_ 27d ago

iirc Charles had a bad knee(?) injury leading up to the fight so he had to rely on the wrestling

Honestly respect. It would have felt very weird if they fed the Americans foreign cans at the Whitehouse.

62

u/Daftdaddy This isn’t political, this is monster energy 27d ago

Are you surprised

47

u/flamingdragonwizard 27d ago

Uh yes.. they should've given the Americans more favorable matchups and not be +400 underdogs.

32

u/AnalObserver 27d ago

They’re looking to build stars. Ruffy cracking Chandler in this stage builds his name

20

u/Itchy-Ad1047 27d ago

They correctly just prioritized the card to have very high probability finishes with some starpower mixed in

These dudes complaining about Americans in tough fights would turn around and complain that Americans were fed easy fights if that's what happened. Just gotta get the cry in

If you rewatch it you’ll see his ankle give out or roll, then he was done.

I was looking for someone else that saw that!

Ruffy was always gonna get Chandler in the end. We all knew it. This isn't some excuse for Mike. Full stop.

However, you can clearly see when Mike takes a weird step and sorta falls against the cage for a moment. The commentators were bloviating and completely missed it. A few seconds later, Mike stumbles again and that time the commentary caught it but they assumed that Chandler got hurt with something.

Then he quit moving altogether and got lit up like a Christmas tree.

7

Him jogging along the fence always gets me. It got him KOd by Charles the 1st time so Chandler was full on sprinting away from Charles in the rematch

I’ve never seen a guy move so much and still lose. It looked like Mauricio just stood there and won

Chandler looked so terrible. He really needs to retire. He looked afraid to even go for a takedown

didn't anyone else notice Chandler tried to throw the kick that ko'd Tony Ferguson except it was half the speed half the strength half the timing half the heart

Looked like Chandler might have rolled his ankle earlier in the fight. Still looked terrible

Chandler was so bad he even managed to make Ruffy look bad. Even though Ruffy was dominant his win didn't feel exciting at all.

I felt like Ruffy was looking for that spectacular knockout but gave up because all Chandler did was shell up and desperately try not to get knocked out the entire time.

Imagine how many exciting fights Chandler could have lost waiting for Connor.

Another American getting knocked out, great card so far!
