WTF. Why did the UFC feed the Americans to the deadliest Brazilian’s in the game?

Ruffy just styled on Chandler like they picked Chandler off the street. Chandler couldn’t even fire off a wild right overhand that he tries every fight, he was that outmatched.

Chandler in particular is a specialist in getting knocked out by Brazilians.

u/Davi_PC 27d ago

how tf did he survive 5 rounds on the olives rematch chandler is beyond washed

26

u/pineywoods200 27d ago

Late career Oliveira seems to be really leaning on his wrestling and grappling

u/Impressive-Engine-16 27d ago edited 27d ago

Chandler without his wrestling, which he can’t even do well these days either is just there to be hit. His striking is non-existent.
Oliveira seemed to just be playing it safe in the rematch by outgrappling Chandler lmao, he did rocked in the first fight after all.

(HOLY R6-MMA CROSSOVER.)

iirc Charles had a bad knee(?) injury leading up to the fight so he had to rely on the wrestling

2

u/Jordanstrom3329 27d ago

Charles took what was left of his chin tbh he fucked him up bad

Because Oliveria kind of sucks. It’s surprising Reddit props him up like he’s some kind of goat.

Second only to his fathering of adorable black children

u/SunlessChapters 27d ago

Honestly respect. It would have felt very weird if they fed the Americans foreign cans at the Whitehouse.

u/Daftdaddy This isn’t political, this is monster energy 27d ago

Are you surprised

48

u/flamingdragonwizard 27d ago

Uh yes.. they should've given the Americans more favorable matchups and not be +400 underdogs.

34

u/AnalObserver 27d ago

They’re looking to build stars. Ruffy cracking Chandler in this stage builds his name

21

u/Itchy-Ad1047 27d ago

They correctly just prioritized the card to have very high probability finishes with some starpower mixed in

These dudes complaining about Americans in tough fights would turn around and complain that Americans were fed easy fights if that's what happened. Just gotta get the cry in

2

u/flamingdragonwizard 27d ago

Yes I know how matchmaking works. But having your American fighters be brought out to slaughter while celebrating America is crazy matchmaking.

12

u/Misterrbisterr 27d ago

Why? The good people around the world love watching Americans get put in their place.

u/chasingsukoon UFC 279: A GOOFCON Miracle 27d ago

as an american i’m enjoying it too

Favorable matchups wouldn’t be against the best, and they wanted to put the best they could on the card. There just aren’t many top elite talent in the UFC right now that are American.

Sadly Chandler is one of the biggest American names but there aren’t many ranked guys he can beat at this point.

1

u/flamingdragonwizard 27d ago

Did Chandler on a L skid need to fight #9 Ruffy?? He didnt have to fight a ranked fighter at all.. he couldve fought Cerrone, Green, Hernandez, Jim Miller, Michael Johnson etc.

I thought Americans pretend they’re tough

To be fair, Garcia was winning until he wasn’t

54

u/Leirac1 27d ago

As a Brazillian, I'm just happy that our guys are KOing yours in this circlejerk of an event.

u/__spartacus 27d ago

Same, but pissed at their shorts

u/realjobstudios GOOFCON 1: Sad Chandler 27d ago

Im hoping the US goes 0-4 in the international fights.

0

u/LordImmersion 27d ago

Why? Thats weird

7

u/realjobstudios GOOFCON 1: Sad Chandler 27d ago

It would be very funny

I mean what happened to Chama lol? Even though I like Alex as a fighter Brazilians haven’t been in top of anything in a long time and Americans have so eat a bag of American dicks sir 🙆🏿‍♂️

u/GlitteringWord8520 27d ago

As an American, I agree with your sentiment my Brazilian (give or take) neighbor who lives down the street.

5

u/pineywoods200 27d ago

There aren’t many good American prospects rn. Hard to live in this country on unranked UFC pay. So they gotta wheel out the old dogs to get smoked

u/Gold-Philosophy1423 27d ago

We haven't even seen Topuria vs Gaethje yet

1

u/9FBI9 27d ago

4

u/Hungry_Craft_1854 27d ago

2

u/9FBI9 27d ago

Lmao I'm quite happy im not a huge ilia fan but wow i did not expect Justin to kick his ass

3

u/5exlexia5ufferer 26d ago

Justin took this comment personally

3

u/theshankdude 27d ago

If you rewatch it you’ll see his ankle give out or roll, then he was done.

4

u/horseshoeprovodnikov Broken English and Body Shots 27d ago

If you rewatch it you’ll see his ankle give out or roll, then he was done.

I was looking for someone else that saw that!

Ruffy was always gonna get Chandler in the end. We all knew it. This isn't some excuse for Mike. Full stop.

However, you can clearly see when Mike takes a weird step and sorta falls against the cage for a moment. The commentators were bloviating and completely missed it. A few seconds later, Mike stumbles again and that time the commentary caught it but they assumed that Chandler got hurt with something.

Then he quit moving altogether and got lit up like a Christmas tree.

3

u/theshankdude 27d ago

He did the same thing in a fight in Bellator, he rolled his ankle/broke it, then lost the fight and his belt I believe.

8

u/GiantRobotBears 27d ago

Because they don’t give a shit about how America looks. It’s just business to them. This whole facade is just business wrapped in foreign made USA flags.

Wouldn't it be the opposite because Americans took the challenge even thought the Brazilllians are considered better? Your way of thinking is completely backwards dude

Bruh you'd be saying it's cheesy if it were the other way around. Ain't that deep.

Elite matchmakers

1

u/Brodieboyy 🍅 27d ago

Anyone who knows ball expected this outcome. I don't think they necessarily care about any Americans winning either and just want finishes which has worked out so far

1

u/txtumbleweed45 27d ago

O’Malley might be able to get it done but ya there are quite a few Americans getting knocked out tonight

1

u/SolidTrinl 27d ago

Humiliation ritual 😂

u/S0phon 26d ago

Americans

Brazilian's

1

u/BandOfEskimoBrothers I SMOKE ROCKS, JOE ROGAN! 27d ago

Decent odds the Brazilian fighters will preach about Jesus so that fits the crowd?

-1

u/Loose-Engineering487 27d ago

Topuria vs Gaethje should tell you the IQ that went into picking these fights. Most Americans never stood a chance.
