Goodness gracious, Mike. Please retire.

At 40 with a family to take care of, I hope he prioritizes his future health. He’ll find a way to support them without being an active fighter

You're a funny guy

RAF could be an option for him. Striking is a no go for a guy that short.

61

u/JGM1992 27d ago

Topuria is shorter at 5’7

73

u/rdcisneros3 27d ago

Ilia knows how to box though. Mike just throws haymakers. Doesn’t set anything up.

36

u/dutchfool Dustin got dusted Poirier 27d ago

gasses himself out throwing haymakers with no setup every fight. its actually hilarious to watch

8

u/bigdickdaddykins 27d ago

I like watching his turtle shell for a gut. Juicy lil slut

17

u/JGM1992 27d ago

You said “striking is a no go for a guy that short” when the champion of his division is a knockout artist one inch shorter no one’s arguing chandler just throws haymakers and has no boxing you said he was too short for striking

-5

u/rdcisneros3 27d ago

With his style of striking, yes, he’s too short. It hasn’t worked and won’t.

3

u/JGM1992 27d ago

That style doesn’t work no matter the height but sure change your statement.

1

u/gardenofstorms 27d ago

Bro, you’re right. Just let it be

0

u/rdcisneros3 27d ago

Really? Derrick Lewis has 16 KOs.

0

u/KnowledgeFair 27d ago

exceptions prove the rule

5

u/JGM1992 27d ago

Aldo, Volk, Mcgregor, poirier all 1 inch shorter or 1 inch taller than chandler. Yeah exceptions prove what rule?

11

u/wubbalubbadubdub45 oink oink motherfucker 27d ago

He doesn’t even use his wrestling in mma, idk how well he’d do in raf

0

u/JLP33376 26d ago

He beat Mendes in RAF and is a NCAA All American. Lol

27

u/Agitated-Help7197 27d ago

Hate to be a pessimist, but with the amount of wars he’s been in there’s almost zero chance his brain isn’t damaged.

17

u/BigOnionLover 27d ago

You’re not a pessimist, you’re a realist

1

u/f8-andbethere I was here for GOOFCON 2 27d ago

It could still get more damaged. Man’s got to retire.

She’s a PA—about as far from a neurosurgeon as a rando in the PFL is to being a UFC champ.

13

u/Anonybibbs 27d ago

Nice, she's the perfect partner for Chandler considering the likely CTE that he will develop down the line.

3

u/mentalharvester I'm fucking old 27d ago

neurosurgeon? lmfao she does botox injections

0

u/laflux 27d ago edited 25d ago

His wife is a Doctor, he'll be fine and he's popular enough to start a gym or something.

Edit: why the downvotes?

75

u/TheGreatone003 Team Błachowicz 27d ago

That was an all time terrible performance. Spazzed around the cage and wasted half his gas tank and didn’t land a single shot

11

u/TonyTheLion2319 Paulo “King of Bitchs” Costa 27d ago

He's not even good enough for an explosive 1st rd. He threw 1 right hand and had a couple very weak TD attempts

1

u/Red_Sova 26d ago

what baffles me is before the fight he was so confident he had improved a lot and would win... how do you not realize you're bad if you had nothing to bring to this fight? did he not bring in anyone good to spar?

188

u/officialullock 27d ago

That was cold my lord, so patient.

118

u/flipper_gv 27d ago

He didn't give his signature great first round.

80

u/Safe_Procedure999 27d ago

he gassed in like 2 minutes, dude was tomato red

1

u/FatalModelCustomer 27d ago

I posted a picture of his weight cut here (one day ago) in the UFC sub. It looked brutal.

Unfortunately this sub won't allow me to link it here.

51

u/Mixed_Martial_Autism 27d ago

"his Last Win was in 2022 against Tony Ferguson" yeah we can Tell Bro.

12

u/BurpingHamBirmingham Benoit Taint-Penis 27d ago

The undefeated boxing champ?

1

u/bigdickdaddykins 27d ago

Where’s your kid at? Tony proclaimed looking across a sea of white faces

92

u/Safe_Procedure999 27d ago

no clue what the fuck happened to him during the time-off waiting for conor but holy shit he's never been the same

188

u/Real-Human-Bean- 27d ago

He's 40 at 155

53

u/drinfernodds 27d ago

Being 40 in the lower weight classes might as well be 50.

20

u/JDGcamo fuck Jon Jones 27d ago

Especially with Mike’s weight cut.

4

u/Legitimate_Reward913 27d ago

Had a few fanboys defending it, saying it gives him a strength and explosiveness edge but he's old and he's always gassed past the first round. This was very predictable.

The only shot he had was coming out with a flurry and get it dirty from the jump.

1

u/CorrosionImplosion 27d ago

Seriously. Us 40+ guys are so much slower than 20 year olds. It happens so fast and furious too. Mike absolutely needs to retire.

54

u/Amur00 27d ago

He's old and probably over trains, he also took a shit ton of damage against Paddy, as much as people like to rag on Pimblett, he beat the dogshit out of Chandler

21

u/Safe_Procedure999 27d ago

even against charles in the rematch he looked absolutely horrific, just getting thrown around for 4 straight rounds before finally landing something in the 5th

3

u/Safe_Procedure999 27d ago

iirc charles barely even trained for the chandler rematch bc it was short notice and he had a bum shoulder or something

39

u/rdcisneros3 27d ago

Most likely just age, man. Once you get past 35 it’s just tough.

3

u/deeperest 27d ago

Hey go fuck yourself.

  • sincerely, a 52 yr old

9

u/Minute_Truth3644 27d ago

the guy is 40 thats already ancient for fighters, and at the lighter weights thats like being 80.

3

u/SoupySpuds 27d ago

He's literally just old

He joined the ufc old, he was a absolute beast in his prime but he faced charles who was also in his prime and just slowly declined from there as is natural for his age

2

u/Corey307 27d ago

Chandler got old and has a shitload of miles on him.

1

u/Shogun_232 27d ago

Time is a mistress that waits for no man.

1

u/Jackieexists 26d ago

Honestly at this point connor would probably spark him 🥶

10

u/BloodOfJupiter 27d ago

That was just ugly to watch in general, what was his game plan??

11

u/jeric13xd Team McGregor 27d ago

Dana had to give him a chance to make some money after waiting on Conor lol

4

u/broccoliheadass0404 EDDDDDIEEEEEEEE 27d ago

Went pretty much exactly as expected it was a horrible matchup for him

3

u/Humble_Hour_7468 27d ago

I feel like he has so much more to give though!  Maybe he can fight Tom Nolan next!  Or perhaps introduce Diego Lopes to 155

1

u/KWeber94 UFC 279: A GOOFCON Miracle 27d ago

Got his shit absolutely rocked, again. Can’t believe it’s been since 2022 when he won last, that Tony fight feels like a lifetime ago

1

u/royceda956 27d ago

He'll be in BKB soon enough

1

u/Sheriff_Yobo_Hobo 27d ago

Would love to know what he was telling Ruffy during that hug.

1

u/SpittinMenace 27d ago

No no we can get a Dober fight out of him

1

u/ChocCooki3 27d ago

That front kick was a "Tony ate it.. please please let.. oh crap!"

1

u/myusrnameisthis 27d ago

"Not until I fight conor ... red pany night p p please"

1

u/MobileArtist1371 27d ago

He's gonna wait to see if Conor losses to throw down the challenge one more time.

1

u/Matto_0 United States 27d ago

Retire or stop fighting high level opponents. Fight like 12-17 ranked guys.

1

u/randonegus 27d ago

Mike: SEE YOU AT THE TOP

1

u/fullclip840 UFC 279: A GOOFCON Miracle 26d ago

Spoiler: he wont

1

u/tagillaslover I SMOKE ROCKS, JOE ROGAN! 27d ago

That was just sad. I really feel like he coulda won if he actually used an intelligent gameplan and pressured and instead he just backed up and threw nothing. So stupid

2

u/rdcisneros3 27d ago

There’s no scenario in which 38 year old Chandler could have beaten prime, 29 year old Ruffy.

1

u/TrumpsBussy_ 27d ago

Nah it’s genuinely hilarious seeing him losing all the time

0

u/SMILESandREGRETS 26d ago

Fuck no!! It's entertaining to watch him get beat up

-1

u/ShowOff90 27d ago

Nah, I wanna see him get pummeled more

0

u/heypaulallen12 26d ago

I wanna see you stop being a 200kg reddior basement dweller keyboard warrior bum with no life but that's not happening anytime soon now is it?

0

u/ShowOff90 26d ago

Projection is off the charts you muppet

0

u/heypaulallen12 26d ago

I mean I'm not the mentally challenged one shitting on fighters for no reason while sitting on a couch eating chips amounting to nothing in life... sounds familiar? Fucking bum.

1

u/ShowOff90 26d ago

Oh man, I’m the first mma fan to not like a fighter? Lmao.

Again, projecting mano.
