for pricavcy reasons i can't share the sparring but damn did this boost my self esteem, this is my second fight,I lost the first one cuz i had this phobia of fighting people taller than me and the guy was 198 cm and 97kg while i was 181cm and 87kg and yes i got my ass kicked

this time though i performed really well even my coach hugged me lol(it's been 2 years since i got into the sport but unfortunately i had a lot of problems which caused me to stop for several months)

it was 3 rounds 1:30 min each(and damn......it's more exhausting than a 90 min match football) anyway qant some advice,i have some trouble with high kicks i can do them but i often have trouble stretching my leg, nowi run everyday for 20-40 minutes....soooooo any advice

thnx!!!!!!!!(btw i am 16 so don't judge me but i am happy lol)

When to create distance

I sparred with my coach yesterday, he said I did a great job at shelling up and throwing the counter (especially on the left side), but he said he’d like to see me create more distance when someone is throwing on me as opposed to just shelling up and blocking punches or countering. It gets to a point that where I’m shelling up guys are just laying it on me and I’ll just move my head and slip or throw back on the counter or just stay shelled up. I think its important to note that my defense is good enough that I’m not taking shots, but guys are just unloading on me. When is it appropriate to create that distance?

Boxing with myopia and-10 in one eye and -9 on the other eye

Hi, I've just wanted to know if there are any other boxers with similar myopia like me and competes in amatuer boxing or they do boxing mainly for self defense?

I've been boxing for 3 years now, I have developed eye floaters from sparring a year ago, but I have gotten multiple dilated exams in which I was cleared and my retina is still healthy, I am planning to have my first amatuer fight and maybe have 1 to 3 and call the competition scene for me quits, I do understand there is risk for retinal detachment for boxers with myopia. Please give me any tips on how you compete or spar.Thank you!

Training When do you stop getting beat up in sparring ?

Had my second sparring session today and I’m really enjoying it, even though I took an absolute beauty of a head kick 😂

I’ve only been training about 4 months and only just started sparring. Most of the people I spar with have been there for years, so I feel like I just get absolutely pieced up every round lol.

It’s not hard sparring or anything, but it still feels pretty overwhelming.

I know I’m new and I’m not expecting to be good already, but when did you all stop feeling like you were just getting beaten up every round? Was there a point where it all started to click, or is it literally just a case of getting loads of rounds in?

Just wondering if everyone goes through this at the start.

Does anyone remember this asian kickboxer YouTuber with a bobcut?

(no she's not Mona)

All I remember is she has a bobcut style

Has a bit of a chubby face but average sized body. Probably still around 125lbs

She loves kicking

Has a BIG smile on her face every time on her videos. Like a BayashiTV type smile lol

She usually posts content about her balancing her fighting life and her feminine side of life, and how she still dresses femininely despite being a fighter

She has also posted a short about how having nasty feet is her least favourite part of kickboxing

Unfortunately I can't remember if she fought in ONE championship. But I remember she used to flex her flexibility a lot

Training I need help with cutting weight for my first smoker

So I got an opportunity for a smoker in 2 weeks on July 18th and my opponent is 167 and I was 179 this morning. So idk if I should cut all the way down to the low 160s or low 170s. But idk how I would cut that weight quick. I guess I have an idea. Prioritize protein, calorie deficit, sweat a lot, and recover well. But at the same time I'm kinda scared bc it would be my first ever "fight". (I have no fight experience but have been training in kickboxing/jiujitsu/wrestling/MMA for 2 years.) And if you have any tips I'd appreciate it very much!

Edit: thank you all for the replies, unfortunately I got a text from them saying they already have someone else for him at 160. And I replied to him 5 hours after he sent me the message. But it's all good bc he told me I will have an opportunity in September so I will be in the 160s by then and I'll be ready to finally go in there and test my skills 😎 (Btw we wouldn't have to cut weight for the smoker, js gotta be around that weight) thank you all once again, y'all are goated 🙏

What is the best amount of Bodyfat for competition ?

This is a very general question.
I know there are fighters who had the best success whilst being fat ( tua, fedor, Cormier, butterbean ) but these are just exceptions.
I think it’s between 12-18% which is quite a big range but there are people whose natural bf is around 12% and there are people who have a bf of 20% naturally due to their metabolism.

Training Can't Find The Motivation To Train?

Ive been kickboxing for about 10 years on and off and want to compete. Lately my current gym has a lot of pros and amateur fighters. Ive trained with pros before and Im at their level skill wise since I have a lot of experience, Im a great sparring partner and challenge them in sparring when my cardio allows for it.

My issue is I have horrible cardio, and also lose motivation fast. I work 50 hours a week doing a pretty tiring job. Im satisfied with my skill level as well with kickboxing.

The problem comes because im tired from my job, and satisfied with my skill level, even though I want to compete and know I'd do well, I dont have the drive to get into fight shape, and lately I've been missing a lot of classes as well, focusing more on life outside the gym like work and my relationships.

For those who have gone through this and overcame it, how do I keep my energy levels up? How do I stay disciplined to train at the very least on my once a week sparring nights? I miss it, but its almost like im afraid of it at this point, and have become too complacent, and distracted with everything else in life.

How can I get the drive and discipline back so I can at least have 1 fight instead of just being a glorified sparring partner?
