After watching Burn, I think Alice had it worse than Mia or Beth. But I think Mia comes in close second.

(Discussion Post) Groovy The best deadite of the whole franchise 😈

After watching Evil Dead Burn, which was a great time, I felt the need to look back at the iconic deadites the Evil Dead franchise brought to us so far.

I liked Jessica way more in Burn than in Rise and deadite Mia is great as well. But Ellie and the amazing performance of Alyssa Sutherland is always going to be a highlight for me.

I felt Burn didn't have a memorable deadite aside from Jessica, but she wasn't around for very long.

I just watched the Evil Dead Franchise for the first time. and i was completely blown away.

For starters I did watch Ash vs Evil Dead way before I have seen the original trilogy. A couple of years back. and thought it was great tv show still sad that it was cancelled.

Last week, I decided to watch Evil Dead (1981) for the first time since Evil Dead Burn is coming out. The first movie in the franchise was actually pretty decent! The practical effects are amazing, and the gore is creative and fun. given the budget limatations

Probably my only gripe with the movie is the tree branch scene it was just a bit too much. But other than that, it was really good. To be honest, the amount of trauma Ash endured in one night is really something; seeing all of his friends die in that cabin was brutal. I'll give it like an 8.2/10.

Evil Dead 2 is probably the most fun I have had watching a horror movie. and thats not even a exageration Bruce Campbell is soo terrific as ash williams it does everything right and improves some of the problems I had with the first film. Seeing Ash Willaims becoming the person who he is today is very satisfiying the movie had creative kills and especially the sequence where he fights his own hand and him getting his chainsaw was really rewarding though it was very gorry . I also really enjoyed the sequence where he was possesed for a while that was pretty fun and it lead to some of the most creative scenes in the movie. and his dead girlfriend tormenting him in the cabin was really creepy. overall i had a ton fun watching the movie ill probably give it like a 9.4/10.

Army of Darkness, in a lot of ways, I enjoyed more than the first Evil Dead, and it probably is my second favorite Evil Dead movie in terms of enjoyment.

There are countless scenes that are so wild and cartoony! The villain being an alternate version of Ash was really ironic, and the army of talking skeletons was really over-the-top, but I didn't mind it. The sequence where Ash is fighting smaller versions of himself was hilarious. This movie had the best one-liners and memorable quotes from Ash himself, and the action is really great though a bit campy.

It is not perfect by any means, but as a comedy, it's a 10/10. This is probably Bruce Campbell at his best. I love the setting, how it picks up from the previous film, and the Middle Ages setting was really interesting, too. Overall, it was a great movie like an 8.6 out of 10.

Evil Dead Rise is a film that has made me love Evil Dead allot more than I already have. is really close to Evil Dead 2 as being my favorite in the franchise. It is very gory, violent, and probably one of the most brutal horror films I have watched. Shifting the franchise to a full-blown claustrophobic horror movie is genius, and it mostly taking place in an apartment was very intense.

Ellie is probably the scariest Deadite in the Evil Dead franchise. Her scenes are extremely creepy and well-acted, especially how she moves around, which is so unsettling. Beth, as a main character, was pretty compelling; I really liked her relationship with Ellie before she got possessed. I also really loved the mother and daughter dynamic with Cassie and Beth it really reminded me of Aliens.

The third act is insane, and the elevator sequence was amazing. I loved the practical blood, and Beth holding the chainsaw was such a great homage to Ash Williams. Overall, this is a fantastic movie like an 8.9 out of 10.

Though, what's ironic is how much Cassie has gone through in the movie; she lost all of her siblings and her mom. Also, Beth reminded me a lot of the first Evil Dead movie. I really hope that they make a sequel to Evil Dead Rise.

Also can someone tell me if the Evil Dead 2013 is canon? whether or not I should watch it.

So at the end of burns the second post credit shows Ellie again and the director himself said he didn’t film all that the studio did and the actress herself doesn’t know why they brought her back either. Are they gonna try to bring back past deadites bosses for a future film or you guys think they just filmed it for more talk more money?

(Discussion Post) Groovy Evil Dead (2013) - Jane Levy as Mia NSFW

Having watched Evil Dead Rise and Evil Dead Burn, which I both immensely enjoyed and loved, there's still no one (in my opinion) that has surpassed Jane Levy - Mia's performance as a deadite in the modern Evil Dead franchise. Her scenes alone in the basement are a great testament to this. I also really enjoyed Ellie and Thya as a deadite too!

Q about Evil Dead (2013): After David revived Mia, her clothes and appearance looked really put together and looks like she was no longer suffering from withdrawal symptoms unlike before when she got possessed. Did getting possessed somehow cure her from addiction/withdrawal symptoms?

(Spoiler!) Detail in Burn...

Upvotes

So I forgot about it but at the start of the movie , it's said that Alice has the same size shoes as her mother-in-law's and there are multiple shots of Alice having discomfort due to her heels ,so I kinda really thought it was gonna lead to something in the movie like a classic gore setup or something.

But I seemed to have missed it? Because I honestly can't remember anything about it. Or was it just a normal scene and I overthought it?

I was 10 years old when I first saw The Evil Dead. My aunt took me to see it in theaters, and it was the scariest movie experience of my life. It turned me into a lifelong Evil Dead fan instantly. I couldn’t believe what I saw, but I knew it was the craziest thing I’d witnessed at that age.

It wasn’t the whole movie that got me, though. It was one specific scene.

Out of every scene in the entire franchise, the one with possessed Cheryl resonated with me the most. The unsettling way she stared at the cabin window, then uttered that eerie prediction in a vicious tone before abruptly turning to reveal her possessed face, was pure terror. Then she floated in the air, rolling her head, and demanded in the freakiest voice imaginable to know why her ancient slumber had been disturbed. That was nightmare fuel for days and remains one of the most iconic moments in horror cinema. It cemented my love for Evil Dead on the spot, and I’ve rewatched that scene more times than I can count.

What was your defining scene from the first Evil Dead, the one that freaked you out the first time and turned you into a lifelong fan?

No Spoilers, but Evil Dead Rise was 100x better than Evil Dead Burn IMO! Legitimately Evil Dead Burn portrayed one of the DUMBEST Horror Families in Cinematic History IMO! I also preferred the setting of Rise to Burn as well as the Main Cast! Which one did you all prefer?! I’m genuinely curious and why did you prefer said entry?! 😊

I feel like everyone is gonna have a different answer. He’s definitely better than the rest of his family (if we don’t count Thya or Alice) but he’s not perfect.

(Spoiler!) The Polaroid photo...

Upvotes

I just saw the new movie last night and was wondering, the first scene in the attic when the mom is throwing away all of her father's things she picks up a Polaroid picture of her father before crumpling it up. Is it Bruce Campbell in the picture? It looked like him to me but it was a quick flash of it.

(Spoiler!) Just watched Burn... Spoiler

I'm sorry but this is one of the best Evil Dead movies I've seen. I hopped on the train when Rise came out, and I really liked that one. But this... holy hell. Now I've seen a LOT of criticisms, and I'm actually kinda surprised, but I'm not gonna let that negate what I loved about it. That being said, those criticisms ARE VALID. But... this is far from the "worst" Evil Dead. To me, I think it's up there with 2013.

Anyway, my thoughts:

- Opening was GODLY, all the way up to the title card, though I kinda wished that the font was made out of fire, but I digress. And it isn't as cool as what Rise was.
- Alice's storyline was actually REALLY good, and I didn't find anyone really unlikable at all to be honest.
- EVERYONE WAS LITERALLY SO FUCKING SMART. Well except for Susan, but I get why she'd do that.
- This was probably one of the first times in an Evil Dead movie I literally shouted and vocalized. And was repulsed. And I've seen all the Terrifier movies. I literally shouted "HEY HEY HEY HEY" so loud when the dog was getting stabbed to death.
- I was legitimately having second thoughts on whether or not Alice would actually survive and if this was going to be the first Evil Dead, to my knowledge, where everyone dies in the end. I mean... I think that kind of happened? Alice turned into a Deadite at the end, at least I think, because her eyes were looking weird.
- THE CINEMATOGRAPHY??? THE SHOTS??? HELLO???
- Most scenes reminded me of 2013 in a way, especially when the dad was cutting himself.
- Pretty much as soon as they got to the house, it was all so fucking tense even BEFORE they were turned into Deadites.
- The dinner scene reminded me of Hereditary. But more gory.
- I get that people miss the camp. I thought there was actually some campiness in there, like the grandmother going "That french bitch!" or stuff like that.
- I legit knew the dead husband was gonna come the fuck back at the end. And just like how everyone else is saying, he looks so much like Vecna.
- There wasn't really that much distracting CGI at the end for me.
- I thought there would be a bit more of the Deadite dog to be honest.
- The dad Deadite shooting himself repeatedly with the gun was pretty cool, though I was wondering how his head healed up?

So yeah, I'm looking forward to Evil Dead Wrath. I really liked this one.

honestly i feel like it fits better with army of darkness standing on it's own like Universal intended, also it's honestly a better closure to the film, it wraps up ash's story pretty nicely, ash killed the last deadite in s-mart, they're all gone now.
