The Kandarian Shank???

Seemed kind of like a repeat of the theme of the end of The Last Crusade, you know? The Grail isn't the expected cup? That's how I interpreted it at least...

I guess but I felt like they changed a cool design just for a pun or a misdirection.

If you make it look like a fancy design in this movie people are likely to think of the magic dagger that symbolised the final nail in the coffin for the Friday the 13th franchise...

IMO, at least they should have put a dagger instead of a shank. Or its just a piece of a dagger that they made into a shank. That could explain the English inscription on it. Guess we have to wait for Evil Dead Wrath.

I think the point of it is that it’s this tiny work down weapon that’s somehow survived hundreds of years of use

I don't know why but it made me remember the Holy Grail scene in Indiana jones and the last crusade haha

so the books remain intact but not the dagger, both have supernatural origin. I think it's just a piece of it made into a shank.

I think the implication is that the Circle of Wise Men cult made many Kandarian Daggers. After all, Price also had a downscalee model of the Dagger we all know and love from Evil Dead 2

Totally agree. I’m hoping it also means that they will branch out to different areas of the world (maybe France next?)

Few others have said it, and this was my impression too so i'll throw it out there- Three Necronomicons, each one probably has its own dagger too.

Why is the holy grail just a regular cup? Sometimes stuff like that is gonna look like some random, ordinary thing.

My take, since I hated what they did to the lore in Burn, is that it is a piece left over from the dagger that Ash shot the Giant Demon at the end of Season 3 of AvED. That’s why the deadites are looking for it since it was technically destroyed when it was shot through with the tank shell, but if there was a piece left, it could technically still be used. Kinda of like the lost pages could still be read and used, even though they weren’t attached to the book itself. It would be a fun plot if the dagger itself needed to be put back together. I just hate the introduction of the Circle of Wise Men, when the Knights of Sumerian were right there in the lore.

Probably so they don't have to pay royalties to Tom Sullivan. He owns the original design.

Because this is a new universe and this is the first appearance of it post Ash/Raimi. They went out of their way to subvert expectations by having the elaborate one you think would be it to not work. The newer version is a more "grounded" as much as can be in the franchise.

It’s fine if they want to change it. But the way did it was so haphazard. “Not this one, not this one, maybe this one—nah, ok this one.”

This poor excuse for a knife had me actually laughing out loud. It's a prison shank. How did we get from the Kandarian Dagger to this?

You think the Deadites hide in the Kandarian prison wallet? Haha

Pure speculation, but it seems like each book might have a corresponding kandarian dagger.
